 Yes, Flemeth's motivation.

So it seems pretty clear that Flemeth will assist Hawke in one or more points in his story, possibly even as a party member .  The quesiton is, why?  I'm pretty sure I'm not making a great leap assuming shes not motivated by the goodness of her heart, she has all the altruism of an Ayn Rand protagonist.  I suppose Hawke may factor into her plans somehow, she is old enough to have quite a few.  Of course, boredom is also just as likely a motivation, helping (or hindering) Hawke's progress though the story may just be a game for her to play while other plans "mature".  In the end despite all that we learned about Flemeth (mostly from Morrigan, not exactly trustworthy), pinning down why she would help a "penniless refugee of the blight" is likely a fuitile anyway.

She's just trying to get back to the Alpha Quadrant.

Flemeth is actually a character we know very little about, her motivations are therefore rather difficult to predict. all we really know is that she's a very powerful and very old maleficar who enjoys being cryptic and mysterious. hopefully we'll learn a little more about her during DA2

ROTFL! Well put! Yes, whatever Flemeth is doing, it's entirely for her own reasons. And it would take a very brave or foolish Hawke to romance her.
Sidenote: Ayn Rand is forever linked in my mind with the Ayn Rand School for Tots in The Simpsons, and those scary babies lining the walls sucking on soothers. ;)

Yeah, we know next to nothing about Flemeth's motivations. Sure, she seems to venerate power, but for what purpose?

Romance?  This lady is just a few steps short of being the Cthulu of Thedas, somehow I doubt she is terribly interested in nookie.  As I mentioned, she could just be playing with Hawke for sheer amusment, that would not be inconsistent with how she has so fare been charactarized.

I'm greatly looking forward to learning about Flemeth in DA2. She's a very compelling character, and we don't even know that much about her! I think the air of mystery that she has contributes to that greatly.

I honestly never expected to see a reference to Rand on here, I am impressed/

I dunno what her ultimate goal is, nor even what her short term one is, though there is enough to speculate. Because we have a mage little sister in this game, I find it likely that Flemeth might want as a body. Oh well, we'll see next year.

I like the idea that, complex as her plans are, her motivation is simple -- she's a thousand years old, and she is motivated by survival.

She'll make use of the short-term (to her) ambitions of a petty kingdom, and the even-shorter-term emotions of that kingdom's hero of the moment, but she doesn't really take them seriously as ends in themselves. Her goal is just the preservation of a nice comfy place in the Wilds for Flemeth to spend another couple of millenia amusing herself.

Hawke is probably not just your ordinary guy. He has to have some sort of edge, some sort of unique feature that will make him the most important person in ALL of Thedas' history.

Morrigan tells you that Flemeth would every once in a while "entertain" men at her cabin. While she is old, she still is a woman, with needs i take it.
