She's a thousand-year-old abomination, a shapeshifter who, according to legend (and according to the grimoire you give Morrigan) seduces mortal men in order to get herself more daughters. Her daughters are reputed to be able to kill men with fear.  She's both a seductress and a hag. She played up the hag aspect for the Warden, "Oh, never mind me, I'm just a crazy old bat who saved your life! Go on your quest and take my daughter with you! I'm sure nothing terrible could come from that..."  But just because the Warden only saw her as the hag, doesn't mean that's all she was...

i must admit, i was not so excited about DA 2 so far, but that post about Flemeth really got me hooked. If nothing else, i am craving to know more. That just sound so intriguing i just need to know more. For a story driven game, maybe the writers should do the marketing instead of just postings some randon screenshot. Great, now i can't wait to get to know more...

Theory: The woman in the concept art is Morrigan. Or her body at least, taken over by Flemeth as described in her grimoire.
It seems logical if we presume Morrigan told the truth about the book's contents. Would explain the white hair since we can assume a few decades have passed since DAO.

Or it could even be Morrigan's daughter but that theory is standing on quicksand for the moment.

edit: beaten to it by Dante.

I would advise you that in any dealings with Flemeth, be confident of nothing.

But nothing is something.

True darkspawn and a greywarden "killing" her would take its toll on her body, no wonder she needed a new one. Still why so goddam....attractive. sh's meant to be this evil old hag, completely screwed up my view of her. Because now when I see her I'll just be thinking "yeah your pretty but Dante saw you as a dragon and an old lady :/). Just odd is all.

Its not so bad .... I saw her naked.

WRONG. Just WRONG.

The real question is, is it Morrigans body she took over or just some poor unamed maiden...or maybe another daughter.

Yeah, we heard in Origins that she delayed taking over the bodies until the daughter was well-trained enough in magic to make a suitable host. That always seemd odd to me -- what does it matter what skills the daughter has if her mind and spirit are just going to be snuffed out when Flemeth moves in anyway?

So maybe it was a lie fed to us by Morrigan or by Flemeth to Morrigan to conceal another purpose. Or is it that the practice of magic is what makes a spirit vulnerable to possession by Flemeth in the same way that the magically gifted are vulnerable to Fade spirits?

Im glad someone agrees with me saruman on that aspect of her hahah. although a romance would be appealing I doubt she has a very nice personality. She might act like she does but somebody who plans to steal there daughters body must be pretty rotten to the core.

Flemeth as a love interest? I doubt anyone would go for it, because at any time during the romance scene, she could revert back to her older self and you'd be too far along to quit doing the deed.

Worse she could become a dragon... (Runs away)...

If Flemeth take over another body, shouldn't her vocal cords charge?
Perhaps now she wont sound like she goes through 40 a day.

It's already been confirmed as Flemeth.

Assume Morrigan was NOT lying?  Possibly.  You also assume, however, that Flemeth told Morrigan the full truth, and that frankly I doubt.

Would explain the white hair since we can assume a few decades have passed since DAO.

*facepalm*  Please read up a bit on the game info before posting.  Any number of posts, not to mention the article reviews, would have told you that the game begins in Lothering, just before the Blight overwhemls it.  In other words, it begins during the same time period as the first game, and continues for a period of ten years.  So no, we can't assume a few decades.

Or it could even be Morrigan's daughter but that theory is standing on quicksand for the moment.

Assuming the DR becomes canon, the DR baby will be less than ten years old at the end of Dragon Age 2, so that is definetly not the god-child.  Bioware has neither confirmed nor denied that ANY of the endings to DA:O are becoming canon, however.

Fun Fact: Conobar means Waiter in Croatian ! :P

This gives an additional angle to the Flemeth origin.

Conobar was a waiter who fell in love with the bride of Osen, a Bard. In order to impress her, he told her that he was a Tyern. He agreed to compensate her monetarily for her marriage to himself. To complete the sham he took her to the hotel in Croatia, where he worked part-time. Unfamiliar with European culture, Flemeth assumed that the waiter's uniform was actually his royal dress, and the Hotel his palace. Though the food was bad, she decided to accept Conobar's offer after thinking that she would order new cooks.

When she realized the truth that there were no good cooks she contacted the spirits, namely Whiskey and Rum. Also consuming the popular drug "Lyrium" (I swear I heard the Maker fame) simultaneously, she started living more and more in the "Fade". One day possessed by these spirits she murdered her husband and ran off into the forrest. Later people claimed that her children, the result of fetal alcohol syndrome, were abominations and would lure men with the promise of home brewed Ale. They began to call the brood "Witches of the Wild" after the mother and the daughters started a Night club called "Wild-life".

You then ask, what happened to Osen?

Ironically, Osen was the bard who wrote a ballad based on his tragic love story in third person and became famous overnight. Later he signed in with a band of four Lute players who used Silverite armour to produce noisy sounds and wrote gruesome lyrics, filled with lyrium inspired theme, for their songs. The group was called "The five demons of Fade", Osen assuming the role of Rage Demon. He retired with a million sovereigns and ended up marrying the desire demon Songstress of their band.

They say, that he later went to the underground casino city of Arlathan, ruled by the once Underground Mafia (now Old Farts really), who still ruled it from their prison homes, not much different in style, than the infamous Dons of mario Puzo. We have not heard of him since then...........
