But, with each new revelation, such as party approval is no longer important
cause even if a party member hates you he will stay and gain
bonuses.....the jumping narrative....the dialogue
wheel....the graphics.....etc., the prospects for this game to be  at all mentally challenging, complex and interesting, grow dimmer.

I am still taking a wait and see attitude.  Not a pre-order, for sure.  Once the fan reviews are in (as opposed to the paid ones at IGN, etc.) then I will decide.  But for now, I am not very hopeful that my fears will be false.

Per Mary Kirby on party members leaving you, here:

No.

They won't leave because of approval.

They can still turn on you or leave forever based on your actions, however.

Wait and see.

I'm wondering how long before either..

A) Bioware raises the bar.

B) Fan approval sinks.

Seems to me they're playing in the middle at the moment.

Well the thing about party members disliking you providing different bonuses can work. It worked in Alpha Protocol, a game which receives a lot of hate but I thought was wonderful. If you became friends with your handler you would receive a bonus based on her constant encouragement, where if you guys disliked one another, you get a different bonus because you "have divorced yourself from her observations and judgment calls and are now completely focused on your work."

As for the game taking place over 10 years, I think it's an interesting idea. I'm glad to see Gaider and co. trying something different rather than resting on their laurels, and it will be interesting to see more immediate long term consequences for your actions.

Read the article, they did not say that it was unimportant, just that you can still get combat bonuses from a negative relationship. I recall Alpha Protocol having a similar system regarding antagonistic handlers.

Well will you look at that, two people who liked AP in one thread. Thats a rarity, unfortunately.

I have no problem with this. So, basically, they've just made it so party members have specific places in the narrative where they can leave. That's not too bad, and in fact lets Bioware use them more in the plot, as they'll know that their presence will be guarenteed before certain points.

We'll see, but so far it has almost exclusively been dissapointing what I've read and heard. Right now the game sounds to me like a hybrid between ME2 and Fable, set in the DA world.
