Ok, so know that DA2's timeline spans over 10 years. We also know that Hawke originally comes from Lothering. We don't know if our gameplays starts at Lothering, or if it starts months/years down the road from that escape. We also know that Lothering was at the beginning of the Warden's adventures too, and that some time will overlap between Hawke's adventure and the Warden's, and that we may see some familiar plots from a different angle.
Ooookay. So here's my question: Do we know about how long the Warden's adventure was supposed to last? I remember hearing somewhere that it was supposed to be over months and years, but I don't recall hearing anything specific. In other words, assuming we start at Lothering (which I know isn't a guarantee), just how much time would there be in overlap? 3 years? 4? 6?

Between 18 months and 2 years I think. Wynne indicates to a mage PC before the endgame it's been nearly a year since you left the tower.

I hate that quote and I wish someone would explain it to me. It makes no sense. None. If you go to the Tower before doing anything else, it's impossible that a year has passed. Exactly that word, it is impossible.

Why? (Sorry, I haven't played a Mage PC yet)

If the DA wiki says the adventure takes place over one year, then how is it an oversight for it to have been a year since the Mage PC left the tower?

If you go straight after Lothering, then overall it can only have been a few months since you left at most.WingsandRings wrote...

Wait, so Wynne says it when you return to the tower for the Broken Circle quest?

Ha! So anyway, if we do start at Lothering, we should have about a year and a half overlapping with DA:O. So not enough to overpower DA2's game play, but enough to bring back memories and recall what we did in the first game.
Cool.
Cool.

enough to have some overlapping incidents... not necessarily WITH the warden, but with the Darkspawn or depressing facts of the situation.
and what's wrong with Wynnes quote? she may just FEEL that it was a year... honestly, you people tend to take mistakes made by a character or casual though wrong remarks from one as a writers error... i think it's art.
and the whole BG series took about 650 days, so i don't doubt that a year is more than possible for this game. would still be cool with day counting.
