It depends on the class. Adepts have to adopt a very restrictive style that defeats the purpose of playing the class in the first place, but Soldiers barely notice the change.

I assume you mean singularity and light arms spamming? I admit it is effective, but you don't have to play that way, and singularity is great on any difficulty anyway.

on my Insanity NG+ I imported a shepard that I'd played on normal, which only had 3 pts in singularity (my first adept run-through, and i just didn't get singularity). I compensated with Area Reave, pull field + unstable warp/heavy throw (in many places you can throw enemies off the map, which makes warpslosions less necessary) and assault rifle spamming.

in almost every game and with every class, games with a shooting element will make you shoot more and take more damage on higher difficulties. for the same to happen in ME2 is, I feel, pretty natural.

Hardcore for most.

My Sentinel has trouble in anything above Veteran, so.

Never tried Adept or Engineer.

Just soldier and Vangurd go harcore or insane.

Sentinel goes Veteran.

But I feel most comfortable in Harcore.

Most games are at Hardcore, but am thinking I am going to have to switch to Insanity for future Adepts. I am running an Adept right now doing no guns used by me, and only power spamming. Just took out the Collector ship with Miri and Thane like a buzz saw. I have Singularity, but am really only using it for Scions, Husks, Harby, and occasionally hard to reach peons. Main bonus talent is Energy Drain(area) swapping out with Barrier on low shield missions. Most used talent is probably Pull, followed by Warp and Energy Drain, with Singularity and Throw mixed in. Shockwave is a waste above Vet, and even then didn't use it much, enemies seemed to just move out of the way too much, making it my least favorite talent.

For the most part, I like Hardcore best. I have found using different classes make my Squad usage better, and thus makes the game easier.

I like Hardcore. I've gotten to where Veteran is too easy for me much of the time, and I'm relatively new to shooters.

Insanity is a cake for an engineer. Combat drone + powers to strip any defence makes most fights a breeze.
