<--- late teens. Some stories seem to fit with older better. City elf - just getting married. Suppose you could be oldish, but 60 probably wouldn't work. And for the mage story you're just finishing your apprenticeship. Likewise, you're the child of the dwarven king, so can't be too old (40 max, I'm thinking). Dalish elf seem pretty open and I think I'll make that my oldest character, somewhere in his 40s. Human noble seems pretty open too, you and your siblings could easily be middle aged.
Oh, in the middle ages, most deaths younger were of disease/illness/malnutrition, etc... If you survived all that, you could certainly make it into your 60s or 70s etc... Soldiers were often in their 30s as well, and many campaigned into their 40s, if they survived.
The age skewed younger, of course, but they didn't die of old age at 40, or some such.
And if you're in a dangerous occupation in such a dangerous world and you've made it to 50 or so, you're probably one heck of a badass.
Of the backgrounds, I suspect the ones with the worst mortalities are dwarf commoner (the worst) and then City Elf. Dalish elves live the sort of life where they tend to either be healthy or dead; nobles and mages are taken care of likewise.
