I would LOVE to see a mysterious Dalish elven mage dude almost as much as I would love the nerdy kind--if they could do both, that would be amazing. A Dalish elf, especially if he's mistrustful to the point of hostile and you have to win him over with charm, would be fun for me as well. Heck, give me both. Human-hating Dalish elf warrior + nerdy elven mage = a very happy me. But they have to put one human in, sadly, just because some girls fancy big burly guys and hate guys who are shorter than them. (I personally thought Zevran was adorable with my tall human female noble.)Margaret_TheElf wrote...
The idea of a completely nerdy romancable mage guy makes me giggle uncontrollably. I wasn't exactly thinking of him being an elf, though. More like from the Anderfells with a Dalish parent and a human parent....I don't know. I imagine him being the type who hides behind a tree, peeks over the side to look at the person he is infatuated with, and then smiles to himself....I would like a male mage as a companion though, there have been a lot of mage women. Poor Anders, only manly mage there.
I'd prefer an elf for the mage, but there should be a male. I mean, you've already got Bethany for a human female mage... how about a male elf for the other? Since they no doubt heard people pointing out the whole "mages are all women, warriors are all male" problem in DAO and Awakening (except for Anders, that is, but he was sadly human, blond, and not romanceable), not to mention that both female love interests were human and both male love interests fought with blades and were blond. I think most of us are kinda over female humans (especially mages) and blond, bladey guys by now. Bethany is cool 'cause she's your sister, but that's all the more reason not to have any more female mages.
I love that they seem to be thinking outside the box in a lot of areas; hopefully they did that with the characteristics of the companions, too. Redheads and brunettes this time for the male LIs? Pretty please?
Hee hee! You and I have the exact same taste, I see.RosaAquafire wrote...
I'd love to see a socially awkward nerdy sort of character, presented in a charming way. I haven't actually played ME, but I've watched most of the character scenes and I LOVED this about Tali. This character-type is actually woefully underrepresented in video games, which is hilarious cause it makes up so much of the audience
Would love a really bookish male character, especially if he were young and had glasses and were romanceable and ...
I find it very ironic, too. I mean, it would even be heartening for youngish nerdy guys short on self-confidence if female players of DA love a character that they identify with. I was a little worried, actually, that I might be basically alone in my fondness for the archetype; reading this thread and seeing people say "male nerdy elven mage" a lot--that is delightful for me. Good to know I'm not the only one who's not so impressed by the bodybuilder type and would rather have a guy whose physique says "I live by the book, not by the sword. Feed me, lest I read myself into an early grave."
Also, glasses are totally sexy.
Me too, very much so. The whole "family member/friend gets killed to motivate you" thing is just so overdone. It's not even a surprise anymore; it just prompts a cynical, "yeah, I knew she was going to bite it." I would just groan if they did that. But I don't think they would; I'm expecting they saw how people reacted to the thing in Awakening and realized how many people were dismayed, but not surprised.Johnny Shepard wrote...
I hope Hawke's sister stays and isnt just a temp. It would be nice with a family-member in the team.
It also just doesn't seem like it to me. I can't say why. My gut just doesn't tell me they're going there this time. Since she's been all badass in the previews, I think it would be more interesting to have her standing at your side at the end than to have her just become a stupid redshirt. In the beginning that sort of thing moved me, but now it always feels cheap when somebody gets killed off like that. I want Bethany to have good character development and give Hawke a sense of history. She should be a living, walking Origin, not a glorified plot device that makes us roll our eyes on subsequent playthroughs, like, "just stop the pretense of being a character and die already." I would never want that. I want to like Bethany and become attached to her. I never had the experience of having a sister in real life, so it would really hook me emotionally, much like Imoen did in the BG games.
That really would be nice. I mean, you could nudge Leliana and others, and I liked the character integrity and subtlety of that... but I think one or two could be truly corruptible, and that might be interesting. Some people are really firm in personality, others malleable, and most of it depends on whether you can summon a truly convincing argument.Jonathan Seagull wrote...
This is probably what I'd like to see more than anything else. A companion or two that you could influence toward good or evil based on your actions and interactions with them.
Connor would be simply awesome. Kudos to whoever made the suggestion. I bet he'd be cute when grown up, and I liked his personality as a kid, what little we saw of it. Of course, Connor could technically be dead in your game, but honestly, who would kill Connor when they had the chance to kill Isolde? I'd never kill a little kid like that. Hell, I didn't even kill Isolde except for once, and I hated her guts. Besides, they could either
You lost me at the wench part. But if you could choose between a male or female slave, I'm all there. It would be a nice test of character how you treat someone who is at your mercy.elearon1 wrote...

*lol* Someone got burned in their first DAO playthrough as much as I did, I'm thinking! I vote with you, beer. Down with Pathos, we want Puppies! Down with Pathos, we want Puppies!! Imagine if you could choose a dog companion, one with different stats and a "class" of your choice.imported_beer wrote...

So, what if Flemeth took control of your sister's body and tells you that you'll only get her back if you aid her in accomplishing some task. While you'll doubtlessly rage at first, as time goes on and years start to pass you may have the option of becoming more accepting of it - you can't change it anytime soon after all. Eventually you may even gain the opportunity to have a relationship with Flemeth in that body, as she cleverly seduces you and encourages romantic feelings. At the end of the game you might have a strong relationship with Flemeth when the opportunity arises to either cast her out of the body - thus losing her but regaining your sister - or allow her to remain in the body and sacrifice your sister for the sake of your love for the Abomination which inhabits her body.
That could make for some very interesting and difficult rp.

One nice demon and one evil demon so I can watch them bicker in camp and in my party.
reminds me of jade empire, except the creatures were inside one little girl...
but seriously, no one else wants a GRYPHON and a not-mean, female elf romancable? rogue-ish kind, not mystic please... and again, a hottie as manly-looking as generic hawke, haha...

NO!
People are getting pretty sensitive over any suggestion of adding depth, uncertainty and difficult decisions to the romance lines. Some people have already comment they wouldn't mind having Flemeth or a similar character as a romance option - my idea merely makes the story more interesting.

If a fan sent you a real pony in the mail I'm not sure you'd appreciate its condition upon arrival.

that NO! is not against difficult decisions but against incest...
in the end, that scenario makes it so hawke will be doing his/her sister...
if flemeth inhabits the body of another mage companion, then that's fine... though honestly... do you really believe that a centuries old, body napping, dragon-changing witch can fall in love with your character?
