Here, though they haven't specified whether or not it's going to be anything more than a cameo appearance.

And since Nate Howe is coming back for DA2, maybe he could be a companion for a little while.

You'll keep him around until he no longer amuses you.

Where does it say that Nate is coming back?

He's not "coming back" as a companion, per se, but it was strongly implied we'll see a cameo.

It's a small thing, but I was really disappointed that Dog did not return in Awakening. Really, even just as a stationary NPC, curled up in the main room of the keep... it would have been cute, help reinforce the connection to the main game, and exceedingly simple to have had.

... but if we can get a faux pony in DA2, I suppose that'll be suitable recompense. >.>

First and foremost, a cat as a full companion.

Second, I want as many companions and NPCs from DAO and DAA as possible, back and joinable. Familiar faces are always nice.

After that, whatever BioWare wants to throw in, it'll be good, I'm sure.

While I loved the party members and NPCs in DAO (some of the bests ever written by BioWare) and I'd appreciate cameos from some of them or references in the codex or subtle mentions by other NPCs, I'm not sure I'd want "as many of them as possible". Maybe a couple of them, but nothing more - one of the best part about relationships was following character arcs and discovering the characters' personalities, and it would feel like a retread if I have to persuade Sten again that I'm not a punk, etc. Besides, I had an unique relationship with them as the Warden - starting another one as Hawke would be... awkward? Familiar faces are nice, but so is variety. And meeting new and equally interesting companions would be great.

I actually think ME2 handled this quite well - people returned from the first game and some had meaningful roles, so it felt like meeting old friends. A couple of companions were also back in your party. But there were also lots of new faces, and rightly so. Had they reused as many companions as possible from the first game, we would have missed Mordin, Thane, etc.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean and I, in return, didn't mean that as "the more, the merrier". It was meant more like "as many as possible to still keep the story believable and the interactions interesting". Because "as many as possible" it's a big number. Basically, anyone still living in DAO and DAA could be back and then we'd have, like you said, repetitive dialogues for all the companions.

So yes, I see your point.  :)

I want a character with a sten-like personality, (perhaps even a Qunari) and I would like him to be romanceable.

Also some sort of large feline companion, demestocated mountain lion or some such.

Lol lots of joke posts here. Since my other posts about companion requests are all on currently silent threads, I'll post em here:

I liked the characters in Awakening, so if we had a couple of them in there, I wouldn't mind. Maybe as romance options, too, though I'm not 100% with this.

My main request is for a beautiful female dwarf. Preferably a rogue if it's needed to maintain a more feminine image. Sigrun had a dynamite personality but her face tattoos were too garish. Otherwise I would have loved a romance option with her.
I willfully brag that my female rogue Aeducan was one of the hottest created characters I ever made, and one of the hottest dwarves I've seen, either on the forums or in the game. My point: I'm confident that Bioware can make a female Dwarf sexy :D. I say make it happen, make said dwarf a LI for male Hawke, and continue to break stereotypes!

Bumping my original post. Especially after seeing the concept art for all the races, I like how they feminized the female Dwarf, which only supports my opinion that Bioware can pull it off :D. There's nothing like a woman with a strong, full figure (Qunari female gets an honorable mention, but their height would intimidate me lol). Come on, Dragon Age team... you know you wanna... ;)

That would remind me of having HK in KotoR 2.
Shale could recount stories of your Warden from the first game. I like it.

Nevarran Archer

Based on what we know about Nevarra they seem to have a thing for hunting dragons and having statues of their hero's. I think a witty sarcastic deadpan snarker for a companion would be an interesting addition. In DA:O we had some occasional sarcastic comments from Alistair and Morrigan but i'm hoping for a constant guy from Nevarra who's egotistical attitude that your not doing your job right would be an interesting addition.

Tevinter Mage

Free Marches is near Tevinter and if the Templars are going to be heavily involved in the story then we might as well bring in a companion that is probably more hated/feared by Templars then apostates. What better then a blood mage from Tevinter with supremist views?

Rivaini Natural Orderist

The codex mentions the Natural Order as a religion in Rivain. Free Marches being close I think a companion from Rivain who follows that religion would help shed some light on that mysterious country Ander's mentioned about being shipped naked to.

I wish - BW dont put most of their effort into console and base their decisions heavily on console and forget about Bioware: Origins -> the PC market..

I hope to get a grim, stoic, and zealous warrior from the Anderfels as a potential companion. Someone who has spent a good chunk of his youth fighting and killing with decades of combat experience.

I'd like to have a kind of devoted warrior monk is all I'm saying.

-a blind female mage who can see through magic and can teach you to see like her. visas was a great character as i recall.. it's been a while. but maybe a similar story.. her 'master' is evil maybe a demon or something and you're the target of the demon for whatever reason but she does her best to help you and you can choose to free her or maybe side with the demon in an agreement to make you more powerful or something

-a female soldier. mhairi came and went too quickly

or maybe a really oghren style college-age drunk mage that causes issues like he maybe lights his pants on fire at camp one night.

this is off topic but i'd like to see more in depth relationships between party members. like maybe they have antagonistic or friendly relationships and maybe they start sitting near each other in camp or you hear them talking in camp. maybe you could go as far like actual romances between party members and maybe hawke is asked for advice etc. but it all depends on their approval of you and.. idk. it could work or it might not feel organic because it'd be so scripted. should you be able to see the approval ratings of other party members? like.. for example seeing morrigan's approval of alistair, etc. and maybe you can craft your party so that they are all friends and maybe morale can be a stat-boosted in the same way approval gives stat boosts.

thoughts?

Mostly I want a none-drunk dwarf. Since we won't get to play one on our own I would want a real duster dwarf from the dust town in Orzammar or a strict traditional one that been forced to the surface for one reason or another. Doesn't have to be of the noble caste, a warrior dwarva would be just as good. Image IPB

Just as long as it's not another Oghren or some comic-relief character that is just there to provide laughs. The dwarf culture was the most interesting part of Dragon age and I hope we can see more of them even if we can't play one ourselves this time. Image IPB
