I've been thinking about this topic again, and looking at the empty character shadows on the DA2 site. I think we're going to get tons of new companions, maybe, like ME2.



I'd like Dalish elf companions, because I think their history is interesting and I'd like to find out more about their people and explore romance options. I doubt they'd be a permanent partner, as the Dalish are specifically trying to get away from humans and their short lifespan disease.

I'd LOVE a Valen (NWN: HotU) type companion. Please reboot Valen into DA2.



I'd like companions to have a relationship (as a romance, family, or just friendship) with each other, like Baldur's gate. For example, say we get a brother and sister pair of Dalish elves and depending on your sex, you could romance either and the other would try to threaten you or whatnot if you break their sibling's heart. The two get bonuses if you have them together in your party, and different dialogue occurs when adventuring, but that one's just a given.



Also, companions in your party will flirt and build a romance with each other. Like Aerie and Haer'Dalis did in BG2.



This seems especially plausible, considering the ten year span the game will take.



omg they could make babies with each other. AWESOME.



the babies could be in DA 3 and become companions for the god baby protagonist. AWESOME.



but i digress!

2. A young shy, nerdy mage. Make him a loyalist. (male)

3. A gruff, battle hardened warrior to act as the mage's foil. (...perhaps make a female?)

4. An evil companion.

5. A dalish elf who is not used to the city or how things work.

6. One or two reoccuring characters... maybe Sten or Nathaniel?

7. A pet.



As a side note, Sandal NEEDS to return.

Agreed, there needs to be more dwarf lovin! Alistair and Zev were great but I still would love to flirt with a short bearded muscley dwarf . . . as long as he wasn't as gross as Oghren <_<

 A male companion (LI?) who doesn't have a dead wife/tragic back story of any kind. Cynical, hard-bitten, a bit dark, chequered history (but not tragic! Can I emphasise, this, please? No Dead Wife to compare my character to, thanks) still a basically decent bloke, though perhaps with a bit of a bad boy streak. Atton Rand, but older. Zaeed, but with proper dialogue?

A female companion (LI?) who isn't either twee and ridiculously vulnerable (Aerie from BGII *shudder*) or a complete b***h. A confident, strong, feminine, slightly adversarial (but not overpoweringly so) female warrior, who maybe DOES have a tragic back story, but doesn't harp on about it. 

Evil person. No interest in being redeemed, not stupid, just has a different set of ethics/no ethics at all :-))

An animal, or maybe someone you start off thinking is an animal but turns out to be a shapeshifter/lycanthrope of some kind. Manimal!
