Post here to tell everyone what companions you want in Dragon Age 2 and what romances you want. I want a pet dragonling that will grow into a dragon and I'll call her Firebird and I can ride her into battle and smite my enemies :police:

I think I'd want to BE the dragon.

I'd LOVE a Valen (NWN: HotU) type companion. Please reboot Valen into DA2. :D

I'd go weak at the knees <fans self>.

I'd like an older woman companion that is NOT your mother/maiden aunt.  I thought Wynne was going to be great and then I talked to her ....

So I'm sympathetic to the notion of Flemeth even though I didn't actually like her much as a character - I'd go for strong, mad, old and powerful at any rate.

i want an old mage (possibly in his 50's) with a large fluffy white beard he would be a father figure to Hawke and would be in your party very early on only to Disappear and be found in a destroyed camp holding a dying little girl in his hands. it turns out the girl was his niece and he wants vengeance... and lots of it.

Disgruntled and cynical apostate voiced by David Mitchell. That character would never, ever get old.

Oh, yes please. If no other companion, then this. PLEASE.

A slightly older, intellectual love interest - a bit bookish, but you find out he was a real badass in his younger days, and that .. err .. aggression ... can still show itself on occasion. Sort of like Rupert Giles from Buffy.

I actually liked Flemeth in DA:O.  I enjoy characters who are odd and/or slightly out of their minds.  It adds a unique blend of whimsy and wariness.

I want a slave wench. You might buy her, or save her from someone, or buy her to save her, whatever the turn of events it has been shown that slavery exists in Thedas and I think a slave girl would provide a lot of potential for rp.

How do you treat her? Does she learn to become more or less independent because of your attentions? If she grew up a slave do you teach her what it is to live for herself or do you reinforce the lessons of obedience she has been raised to? How will others treat her and how will you respond to that treatment? Will she grow to care for you or despise you? And if she does care for you, or you her, how do you breach the certain rift between you that her slavery creates? And the list goes on ...

Of course, for this to work properly and prevent you from simply releasing her at the earliest convenience, (which would circumvent a lot of the rp potential) there would need to be some reason why it was safer for her to be a slave than free. Perhaps she is branded and a branded woman found without a master would quickly be snatched up by someone else - if not executed for running away. Perhaps she is one of those Qunari slave-mages and being found without a master would, again be dangerous ... or perhaps she simply wouldn't know how to act or survive without someone telling her what to do. Again, there are many possibilities for why she'd need to stay with you.

It could be very interesting if you picked her up early and she was one of the few characters who remained with you over the 10 year timespan ... how would your relationship evolve over that time? Would you come to consider her a friend, a confidant, an asset, a pet?

I see a great deal of potential here.

Agreed. I thought Flemeth was by far the most interesting NPC in DA:O. I'll go for intriguing characters over nice ones every time x

Flemeth reminded me a great deal of Ravel from "Planescape:Torment" (play this game) and Kreia from "KotoR 2"

I would like to see a younger version of these characters; delightfully unhinged, eccentric, yet clever or brilliant ... a more interactive River Tam, perhaps. (There was a great character in a NWN mod series, the name of which I don't recall now. A cross between fantasy and shadow run, with big corporations controlling magic ... anyone remember this?)

Agreed again. In games, I find that manipulative, morally ambiguous, 'sort-of villain but not entirely' personality very compelling. In real life ... not so much :P Ravel and Kreia are good comparisons, btw - I wonder what Flemeth's agenda is?

Sorry, that's straying off-topic x

As long as we don't get the fantasy stereotypes I am happy. Unfortunately, more or less all the companions from DA:O were quite established and familiar character tokens (that's not to say they weren't amusing). This was a departure from BG1 and BG2, were many characters had surprising twists and traits (especially BG1). I always ended up with a lousy party, because I wanted to keep the good characters.

As for romance, I'll romance anything that's hanging around the camp (except Leliana; her religious babble was just too much to stand).

Not sure what you're saying there.  I was pointing out character types that I liked ...

The NWN mod I was referring to, by the way, was "HeX Coda 01" and the character's name was "Pandy"  If anyone who still uses NWN has not played this Mod I highly recommend it for great story and characters. (though it came out long before DA it also uses a gift system and for those of you who enjoy as much, there are romance options as well)

Pandy was a great character and I think she is my crazy girl love even over River Tam.  That is a sort I'd like to have in my group. (and one rarely done for crpgs, unless you count Minsc)

Was good. Sadly unfinished series though, there will  never be a Hex Coda 2. Would recommend the entire series of Firefly to anyone to hasn't seen it (unlikely though that is of people on these forums), plus Serenity, of course :).

On that note, however, there are numerous characters from NWN1/2 mods, whose type would work very nicely as companions/love interests in DA2. Robert Black or Dante from the excellent Aielund Saga (NWN1),  any of the companions from Live Forever (NWN2) or Subtlety of Thay (NWN2), Anera from Adam Miller's NWN1 series (forget what it was called). Actually, thinking about it there are far too many well-written characters to list here, or even remember!

Hmmm, I may have to re-install NWN1 ... :wizard:

Hmm, I kind of like the 'Robert Black' idea. A character who starts off as an enemy at the beginning of the game, who you fight but he/she manages to escape. Then, a few years down the line your paths cross again - only this time they end up joining you for some reason. Someone with whom Hawke has a history, only a more complicated one than a familial tie.

On reflection, I s'pose Bio did something similar with Nathaniel Howe in Awakenings - so this sort of dynamic, only more intense, could be quite good.

I'd like to see the opposite as well, if possible. You should gain a companion fairly early on in the game who's pretty friendly towards you but when you do something to really ****** them off, they don't just leave the party, but remain as an antagonist to harass you throughout the years. Would be pretty interesting to see.

ever since i played the first game i've wanted to see a griffon in action....on my party of course.

maybe we could find a small group of them and tame one, i know they're believed to be extinct in the game but you never know...
