Can we? The pc has many ways on improving their Warden's yet the console is fairly limited. Will there be an improved version? With more option's and hair and even possibly and easier way of sharing with others, the Mass Effect 2 face sharing is annoying to input on the console without the little keyboard.
Can we have a decent character maker?

I hope we have more options. I'd assume we will but who knows? I can't imagine we'd have less.

Sweet a reply! I hope it is improved, more sliders to edit some details on the face, the nose is always too pointy.
Hawke has a sweet beard so maybe new options for beards.

As long as it not limited like ME's character creator I'll be happy. But being a console player I'd be very dissapointed if it remained the same; so hopfully it'll be improved.

Out of curiosity, how was ME's character creator limited? I never played either of them.

I would think that with the outcry on the lack of options and with the people making mods for it they'll take it into consideration. I could see them adding like 5 more hairstyles or something like that and more options for the face i.e. scars, tattoos etc. They'll still be people making mods thought because you can't satisfy everyone.

Much more simpler and basic than the Dragon Age character creation, my opinion of course.
I like to have quite alot of options for creating my character. My character either looks like he is stoned or a caveman.
EDIT: Scars would be nice and more tattoo's aswell, i did not think much of the tat's that covered your face.

I loved making characters for NWN and NWN 2.... Loved it more than playing NWN...

O.O Seriously? I thought the character creators were terrible for both of them (appearance-wise).

Oblivion and Fallout 3 have possibly the worst character creators ever. If you make your stubble more darker, your skin goes darker aswell.

I looked beyond appearances I guess.
I loved the feat, skill and the character point allotments.. The thing was so crucial that if you did not do it correctly you would gimp the character and even miss out a PrC.. I just like thinking and planning for the future...

Well this is IMO but the character creator in ME is limited in how well your character looks to accomodate for the default shep.andar91 wrote...

In terms of character creator i really liked the Age of Conan one - not only even more facial options, but also many option to change body features.

I remember having trouble making human males in the character creator, they came out looking like cavemen. I'd like more options, and more hair styles (longer hair styles as well?).

Possibly more eyebrow's and eyes. Why is there only one decent eyebrow and ther 3 otehrs include 2 cavemen style and one that does not even look like it is there.

APB's true customization strength was in its tattoo/decal editor. Character creation sliders were a bit redundant and not so user friendly. While there was more variety in hairstyles compared to some other MMOs, I personally got to try it out during KTTC and found a couple of the hairstyles to be redundant or minor variants (no kidding, there were 7 "different" buzzcuts for females).
The game got 50/50 reception though.

The thing that stands out to me (and what I'd like in DA2) is the ability to manipulate your character's musclature and body size. The problem is, I don't think it's necessary feasible. With the cost of making a game being what it is (and only having one race) I can see how they would opt to go with one set body type in DA2. Oh well, I can hope for the future. lol. I guess I shouldn't assume the worst; I suppose I can hope for DA2.

Saints row 2 had a pretty good character creator.

Aion also had body sliders, and being a fantasy game it also dealt with robes, light, and heavy armors. It's do-able, but it's a matter of whether they want it in or not.

SC4 had body customization, but had pre-made faces...

weight and height would be good to change, do not understand why it needs to be such a thin needle

Uhm...as much as I want more options for the character editor and all...you can't honestly expect them to implement a MMO-style (APB,Conan) system for DA2.
That would totally go overboard -zots-wise- for such a not-quite-important feature. SP-only games don't need the PC-diversity of MMOs.

I'd be happy with something like Age of Conan's CG, but with a little more control over the face.
DAO sucked in that to get the best customization I had to use the toolset. I prefer to stay in the game when I'm doing that stuff.
