good storyline, glitch-free play, 1080p for my PS3, not much to ask for... I'm used to changes in styles. It's bound to happen when someone new signs on..
Practically (as in almost everyone) no demanding games on the PS3 are 1080p.
This is alot to ask for.
But Assassins Creed 2 was in 1080p for the PS3

Only upscale, not proper.

would there be any detractors for changing from PS3 to XBox for DA2?

So this looks cartoony?
I don't think it's cartoony, but I'm not sure what people are seeing that makes them think it is a great deal better than DAO. The shading is more subtle. The hair looks more natural, that's good. The shadows on the faces look realistic, and so does the blood spatter- the streak across the nose is a nice touch. I'll grant these are subtle improvements.
Not only that but the faces themselves look really good. I love Hawke's expression there, and his overall appearance reminds me very much of Ye Olde Times Greece. I also hope that that's his sister next to him: as cool as romances can be, it'd be great to be casted next to a female lead without any sexual tension!Kalfear wrote...

The Witcher 2 and Dragon age 2 are entirely two different types of games. Dragon age is in the high fantasy tradition, The Witcher is grounded in gritty realism.
The Witcher is going to be a better looking game - that much has been established. Doesn't mean it will be a better game to play.
I haven't heard Dragon Age referred to as high fantasy. In fact the devs talk about distinguishing it from Lord of the Rings specifically in regards to the graphics.
This is news to me. I know the first installment derived much from Tolkein...ie, high fantasy. Heard them specifically say as much.
It's in the Game Informer interview. They say specifically that you ought to be able to look at shots of the game and say "that's Dragon Age 2" and not Lord of the Rings.
Just another moment where it felt like the devs sat down, made a list of things I like, and decided they were all merde and had to be thrown out.
Man, I'm so excited for this new game. [/sarc]

I thought the style and mood they were shooting for was Adult "dark fantasy"....which I think they achieved with DAO.
I don't believe that DA2 will carry the same tone or impact unfortunately.

Go PC, bang resolutions to mega levels with X16Q anti aliasing, become a winner.

1080p this time? Or stuck still with 720p? I have a 55 inch HD TV so it makes a huge difference, like when I tried Red Dead Redemption on the XBox (1080p), then tried it on the PS3 (720p)... major graphics fail...
You know that RDR on X360 runs in 720p and PS3 in 640p? There are almost NO AAA games that run in 1080p on consoles. They're only upscaled.

If Dragon Age 2 had the Witcher 2's style, and the Witcher 2 as we know it didn't exist, we would all be going "How the hell am I ever going to run that bull on my computer? Wow, they even flat out say that they had to develop an entire new graphics engine just to support their game. Maybe I'll buy it in 2015 when I can get an expensive supercomputer." right now and not "What the hell is that? I'm so disappointed that the early versions of the graphics don't make my head explode with their amazing awesome beauty. My game should be beautiful from day 1, damn it. My whole experience will be ruined if my character's fur isn't quite fluffy enough and doesn't make me want to stroke the screen for hours upon end".
fix'd.
sorry, but I am going to be a **** about this because DAMN, YOU PEOPLE ARE PICKY. Early versions of games are usually more in the process of getting the combat systems, dialogues, and storytelling completed before polishing the graphics.
EDIT: I am also sorry that I picked on you Rubbish. Allow me to give you an e-hug for compensation.
EDIT2: If anyone also tries to tell me that any old dumbo can build their own PC for 500 dollars that can run the Witcher on full-blown graphic orgasm, I'm going to kick your ass.

Whereas I agree with your comments on people bashing a non-finished product, I'd like to point out that "entire new graphics engine" doesn't automatically mean it's going to be heavy to run. A good engine built from a scratch can boast some really impressive graphics without requiring any super rig under the table - good examples would be Unreal3 and Avalanche 2.0 engines.Juneya wrote...

Since you're asking people not to judge DA2 graphics beforehand maybe you shouldn't judge The Witcher 2 just yet either =)
People in general should take a chill pill and let Bioware do their magic:wizard:. There is still plenty of time to the release.
