What are you talking about? Why do the darkspawn win at Ostagar? Why  does the grey warden need to unite people? It's because  A) Lemonade head was over-confident and B) People too complacent not taking blight seriously and not give a crap about Grey warden anymore.  it's pretty much Zulu with bits in between to stretch the game out.

Two things.
1 You don't know what you're talking about.
2 You're comparing black people to monsters.

Not sure what I should be more concerned with here. That RH connects a fictional characters movements and obvious name to an actual ethnicity, or that they have no idea they are being incredibly racist.

I weep for the education of the world.

Equating the Darkspawn to black people is offensive and ignorant. As such, you might find this a useful link.

On topic, since a lot of diversity is influenced by prosperity and trade, do we know how much trade goes on in Kirkwall/the Free Marches? Has there been any indication of the economic situation in that area, or are the Free Marches more or less a vaguely-detailed black hole?

Please stop contorting my words to a politically correct rally. The point was 1. It's Zulu and 2. Darkspawn basically Zulu Warriors because they are seen as lesser social standing by arrogant imperialists but actually winning through sheer force of numbers. The fact DarkSpawn have dark skin, as well as "dark" in the name, doesn't make them black people. This is your own racist thinking, not mine.

I thought that the Qunari were based on South East Asian Indians, because of the whole culture, the Qun, the restrictions of "place in society" (sort of like the caste system) and the incense and tea which are two things of norm in India.

Thats just my take on it though.

As an Asian (chinese) myself, I would love to see more Asians in DA, though I am not particularly bothered otherwise, as it is a game largely based in a fantasy version of Europe and the absence of Asians isn't such a surprising thing.

Just because we can form opinions about what you meant does not mean that they are our opinions about a topic you brought up.

I don't think RH means to be racist, but he should be more aware of the fact that no race would be happy to be associated with darkspawn as they aren't particularly attractive/intelligent and well, they are freakin' monsters dude.

I think what's most impressive is that he pulled from an incredibly obscure movie to do it.

Lord Of The Rings probably. Saying that though, back in Tolkeins  day,   things were alittle different than they were now. Casual racism  was   pretty much the norm I think, so he might well have had some  backward  thinking. Chances are it wouldn't be surprising if he based it off real life  dwarfs, because they are small, like dwarfs, who are  also called  dwarfs. So, Dwarfs, probably, as fantasy is basically like  reality but  abit more, fantasy.  They don;t like getting called midgets anymore  according tv show..  Real world term and race term exact  same.  Although they just didn't grow right in the real world, they  aren't another race altogether, unless you are white and they are a black dwarf but that has nothing to do with height. Well, I suppose it does  if his black mother is a dwarf, but even then, her height has nothing to  do with race as I think you can be Dwarf without actually being born  from a dwarf probably, they had to start somewere.

bioware made hawke bearded because of the epic beard man, so darkspawn are based on the guy who asked for the ambalamps, thus bioware are all racists

It's our racist thinking? Really? Because quotes like:

"Darkspawn are probably based off Zulu warriors."

"Black people didn't exist in medieval days. At least outside of Africa
and all those places I think."

"Outside of Robin Hood Prince Of
Thieves Morgan Freeman is about the only black person in medieval
setting I can think of."

"Isn't Sten
basically a native Indian? Or at least based on one? He looks like one
and has the whole "my culture" thing going on. That sort of counts as
black in a way."

definitely make me think the problem lies in your actions and not my thinking.

You were called on your privilege. Deal.

Actually, there was a race of small people.

www.show.me.uk/site/news/STO519.html

They supposedly count as hobbits and not a dwarf race for some reason. They probably did have beards. So it would be fair to call them a race of dwarfs than hobbits. Too much reading but these probably not found during Tolkien day so opinion still stands about people with growth problem.

I'm a bit surprised about people wondering about the origins of Dwarves and such in Tolkiens fantasy writings. It is well known that Tolkien's Dwarves, Elves etc are borrowed from Nordic mythology.. the name Gandalf, Dvalin, Thorin etc are all mentioned in the "Dvergatal" and Gimli is also in the Eddas and so forth..
Meanwhile the orcs originate from celtic mytholical beasts, if I remember correctly.

I am aware of that discovery, but I fail to see what that has to do with my post? I did not mention dwarves at all, nor was I addressing your post on dwarves.
