Two things i miss very much in Dragon Age that Drakensang had are: My character would speak most of the dialogue. I feel like a Deaf-Mute standing there while everyone is speaking in DA. Secondly,I miss a graphically beautiful world to play in.

DAO is definately better. But drakensang had things that were better.

Like a detailed log of every roll and damage. And detailed stat and skill info.
DAO does poorly in giving info to the player. The story is great, but they neglect other things.

Both are good RPGs - in some areas DS excels DA:O in others DA:O is superior. I'd call it a close one, but ultimately DA:O (for me) is "better" (I'd give DS 90% and DA:O 92%).

It's funny really. I own and have Drakensang installed but have never actually played it. I couldn't really get a feel for it. Perhaps I just wasn't in an RPG mood when I tried. Is it a good game? In depth story, character development and companions? All the stuff we love?

I liked drakensang only after reading how the rules worked in a wiki. It is a great system when you understand how the rolls and such work.

Yeah, i like drakensang too, history anb companion´s history is much deeper here, but i like the maps and, above all, the high amount of beautiful weapons and armor of drakensang.

I also miss the combat info too =)

Drakensang was a good game but the combat didnt do it for me,the mage class seemed a total waste as every enemy made a be line for them and the spells felt underpowered to me,great graphics and loved the dwarf forgrim :).

i liked drakensang simply because i played a lot of dark eye pen & paper when i was younger. dragonage just has much more interesting characters and as much as i LOVE aventuria the world of dragonage is just a lot more appealing and feels much more real.

After completing drakensang i felt extremely unsatisfied. Am i the only one that think that game was horrible? Im not sure WHAT it is because i love baldurs gate, icewinddale and dragon age... but i was forcing myself through drakensang.

Drakensang had nothing to do with DnD or any of the Infinity Engine games. Nor anything to do with Bioware. So it's not that odd you didn't like it.

Still, they knew most players like to know things besides the story, like what hit me, or what exactly does this spell I have. Or why didn't I resist this or why am I hitting for so few on this boss.
In DAO, all this info is hidden, and that not only sucks, but it makes the game have much less replayability. The good thing about DAO is the story, but that keeps you entertained only for as long as it is new. While character development and such with good info  can make you restart the game dozens of time.

The storyline in DAO is more epic or fluid, while Drakensang is a bit less so, though it's still a good game.

Ehhh. Drakensang was great for a while but the fascination wore off quickly since it degenerated into another uber-powered lootfest.

I far preferred the predecessor Arkania stuff. Star Trail, now there was a hardcore RPG.

I greatly enjoyed Drakensang but if forced to choose I prefer Dragon Age. There's a lot more depth of character, far more interactions with your companions and the story is less linear. Also, in Drakensang my PC feels pretty generic. Whatever class, race or gender I'm playing, everyone reacts to me in an identical way. Dragon Age is the polar opposite of that.

That said, there were many things I loved about Drakensang. The earlier Dark Eye computer games were my first ever CRPGs - any other Northlands Trilogy fans out there?

I have tried a little bit Drakensang but I was not taken in by the storyline at all (and I find that the companions have not enough personality).

I clearly prefer Dragon Age Origins and both Neverwinter Nights over Drakensang.

I liked Drakensang because it cures my insomnia and comparatively makes characters in any stories I write look complex, interesting and witty.

Drankensang or watching paint dry? Watching paint dry definitely.

Ahhh, Drakensang is a great game, brings back Realms of Arkania memories.

Only less graphically painful. They are making a sequel, so keep an eye out for

it. Also: Risen. Kinda broken like every Gothic title but hella fun and challenging.

Ummm ... No.

Tried to get into it but just couldn't seem to find the "immersion".

Played it after work for several weeks and it just didn't do it for me.

Drakensang, ahh such a beautiful hyper-generic fantasy bore-fest. Sure, it had some good mechanics going and decent visuals, but that is definitely not enough to make a game interesting for me. Not as bad as Gothic 3 or Risen though.

@OP:  I would rather have the entire game completely mute than have the AWFUL voice-acting and dialogue that Drakensang had, uggh.
