Do you prefer Drakensang over Dragon Age?

But I love crafting systems. All Gothics have amazing crafting systems, best sword and armor are crafted and even alchemy is way cool, with rare herbs for some perma attributes pots. =)

That said, the system in Drakensang bugs me in that it's so incredibly broken. Low level characters seem to fail constantly at even the simplest of tasks, but one you're high level, you almost never fail even the most complex. Also, not using a shield seems to be completely insane. The extra damage from a 2-hander isn't that significant, and the extra parry from a shield is a life saver. Not to mention that the weapons that get the skills that automatically inflict 2 wounds are so much better than the ones that don't have access to that skill.
Still, it's a fun little game, and after my first playthrough as a ranger (who was awesome...although that quest with just her and the amazon lady sucked) I'm thinking of going battlemage this time.

There's a skill, though, that gives 4 extra parries and is meant for characters that use two-handers or don't want to use a shield (using a rapier or dagger along with a shield looks silly imo). The knight with his unique two-handed sword (that has 50% chance of inflicting a wound) comes with it.Vaeliorin wrote...

Also, only two-handed weapons allow to learn the "strike of wrath" skill, which is the most powerful attack in the game. With buffed strength & the most powerful two-handed weapon, you can dish out over 100 damage with it.
That quest sucks with pretty much any non-caster class. Elves are overpowered with their ability to cast most spells in the game & their unique spell that gives immunity to wounds and all damage for 60 seconds.Still, it's a fun little game, and after my first playthrough as a ranger (who was awesome...although that quest with just her and the amazon lady sucked) I'm thinking of going battlemage this time.

I will now use this one to add that one of the reasons I like Drakensang so much is that the Northlands Trilogy were my first ever CRPGS back in the '90s. Watch me twich whenever someone says 'Startrail' ...

The weapon str bonus system is kind of broken when the devisor goes to 1 with certain two-handed hammer and str-boosting potions. I defeated the final boss without even seeing her summoning anything because the dwarven warrior guy hit insanely hard.

umm.. what is drakensang?
OH! You're not aquainted yet ...?
May I introduce DDDDDr. PPhd MsC Mr. Google to you? This guy is really amazing, he knows almost everything! He's the lil fellow in the right upper corner of most browsers ...
True to a point. While google is fine you are reading reviews of players whom may not be into true RPG classics like DAO, Baldurs etc. They may review the game and say it's cool cause it's just like Doom or something!
Company game review sites will only speak positives about their game.
So in the end I trust my fellow gamers here on their take far more then googling cause I know the the players here have the same interests as I.

Drakensang is a good game (I'm about to reinstall it for a second playthrough...just finished my 2nd of Awakening, and after 8 of DA, I'm in need of a break.)

You mean "only" 8 times right? A maniac with too much time in his hands like me have finished it at least 20 times! Four of those with the same char recreated over and over cuz he's the best! With some 100hrs per run, you do the math. Except my latest Rage who rushed like a thunderbolt with no DLC items to go into Awakening and finished in only 60 hours, my record!
Thus, a few runs with games like Drakensang, Risen, ME 1&2, Warcraft3, GP4, Fifa2010, Homeworld series, Max Payne, Torchlight and the Gothics keep Dragon Age always a fresh game to me... heh

Yep. Ranged rogue, melee rogue, 2-handed warrior, ranged warrior, 2-weapon warrior, S&S warrior, Arcane Warrior melee mage, and a caster mage.JSS wrote...

I'm now done with it for a while (though I'd like to play through Awakening at least a few more times) but I'll almost certainly pick it up again in the future.

Basically, from what I've heard, Radon Labs are to German RPGs what BioWare/Interplay/Obsidian/Black Isle etc are/were to Western RPGs.
German RPGs are Western RPGs. The Western part of the world is initially Europe, and since a couple of centuries includes also North AMerica.
