The Important Question: Hair!

In the last installment of the Dragon Age series (Origami? Oriental? No one reads past the colon...do they?) the hair was rather - how to put this? - lacking. What we've seen of Dragon Age 2's (Begone, foul colon!) hair shows a vast improvement over its predecessor's, insofar as quality, but I would also like to know where it stands as far a quantity. Don't get me wrong, the first Dragon Age had a great number of hairstyles, but...most seemed to be simple variations of a previous hairstyle (ponytail, ponytail with a piece of hair jutting out, ponytail with TWO pieces of hair jutting out)! I was wondering if it would be possible to give the community an early estimation on where our hair stands.
Many Thanks!

P.S. 1. Will facial hair still cause a man's face to become hideously warped?
2. Will there be in-game barbers/salons we can visit to manage our character's hair? I know it's not a feature in immediate demand, but I think it would add something to the experience if we could have some sort of visual change to match any emotional changes our characters might experience. IE, facial hair growth on man Hawke to signify him becoming rugged-er.

I'm hoping for one, because I thought it was funny to have a beard that didn't connect with the character's face, but I doubt two will happen.

But in all seriousness, more hair would be nice. Longer styles would be cool, but I'd be okay with longer pontytails and braids and stuff like that.

Judging by Bethany's hair, we will get volumous lumps of it.
Let us hope that BioWare refrains from walking the Morrigan "NPC Hair Exclusivity" path. There's nothing there but heartburn and indigestion without a bottle of Pepto for miles.

We should also be able to change the length of our hair.
You know, I asked this question on that old DA forum that was public and got shut down soon after the game was released, and they answered why not: Clipping issues. The hair would move in and out of the armour unreasonably, since you can wear any number of different armours. To me, I really wouldn't mind if I had pretty hair, but for many others it breaks immersion.

So, you'd rather look pretty than be well protected?

Okay, I really can't make that joke work.

realistic physics
I have never seen hair treated "realistically" in any game when it wasn't tied up or tied back and it was just the bangs or forelocks moving. Besides that, it's easy to say "oh we want realistic physics for long hair!" when a ton of effort to make it look natural (I remember hearing somewhere that almost no animator wants to do long hair because it's so incredibly ridiculous to animate--like Sleeping Beauty in Shrek 3, or Violet in The Incredibles), make it work with any type of armor would be easily solved by having hair no longer than your shoulders.
Don't you remember how the dreadlocks in Fable 2 kept doing crazy twists everytime you twitched?
EDIT: Bryy: XDD I'd rather have pretty hair that magically moves through my armor. I mean, if they told me I can't wear certain types of armor if I have certain types of hair, then I would sadly not bother.

Well...what if I took realistic hair physics, and made it "realistic hair physics*"?
*By realistic, we mean "IT'S AlIVE! ALLLLIIIIIIIVVVVEEEEE!"
I don't expect them to make hair that moves in a believable fashion. That's simply asking too much. Maybe the part of the hair below the neck line could move enough to avoid heinous clipping issues with armor? Is that a sort-of-kind-of compromise?

Some video games this gen have realistic hair physics. Their usually known for having very good graphics.
I've honestly never seen one--and that's just ignorance on my part, really. I truly doubt they could look good if the hair was loose, long, and in the way of plate armor. Video, plz?

FF13....answers right there
None of them wore armor. Clipping was not an issue, since they had nothing that would interfere with their hair movement.

Clothing. They woreregularclothing. Their hair was made specifically so it would never conflict with said clothing. Notice how Lightning's hair is off to the left, but her big ole collar is on the right?
If what you say is true, which i can't clarify because I'm not bothered to pop in ff13 to check, then could DA not also accomplish this. Although there are the various armor pieces that they can wear.. which could be attended to ...?

Lets not. NPCs should be as unique as possible, right down to the hair. The last thing I want to do is to stumble across an NPC who shares a haircut with my Hawke. They simply shouldn't make NPC hairstyles so much more awesome than what's available to Hawke that people want them.Godak wrote...
