Does anyone honestly think that a character like the Warden can be wrapped up in an expansion or DLC?
Sure, if given a worthy and conclusive ending. I'd say it should end as it should have in the first game, with a heroic sacrifice, but it seems most here would disagree with me on that.
And even if they could be, why do that at all?
Why leave an unfinished tale unfinished? Why leave money on the table? Fact is, people want to on one last journey with the character they love and if possible they damn well want to see Morrigan to close up one last loose end. The fact that most epilogue in Awakening ends with the Warden just vanishing is also something that does not lie well with most people.
I'd prefer a more standalone story somewhere outside of Ferelden, having little or nothing to do with the Grey Wardens or the Darkspawn, perhaps even a few years after Awakening. One last rise to glory, one last stand against the wrongdoers of Thedas and maybe even one last chance at romance.
Just because the Warden isn't the protagonist in DA 2 doesn't mean he/she'll never show up again.
The Warden is an empty vessel without you, the player, making his or her choices, thus limiting his potentional. At the most you might just see your old Warden plus companions walking through Lothering at the beginning.
Flemeth is still around. Morrigan is still around. Potential for 2 more Blights. Even if another Blight never occurs, the Warden is too significant a character to simply fade away into the unknown. I fully expect him/her to show up in future games or even at the end of DA 2.
Like I said, there is nearly no potential for a mute character in a series which will then have transitioned to voiced characters. I doubt people will like to see their Wardens do or say anything they don't want them to do (or say anything, for that matter).
