Ah, yes, judging before seeing... ever heard of buying the cat in the bag? Just in this case its throwing the bag with the cat into the river and complain about how terrible and ugly this poor thing must have been as they told you she has green eyes and you really don't like the green eyes of the dog you once had...

Sorry, but I stopped reading here.

If you're not going to buy a game and make a topic about it, then at least have a good reason. The reason you gave is poor. BioWare have never claimed that your Warden will continue into Dragon Age 2 (your choices will, I think), and to not buy it because of that is ridiculous. There are so few sequels that allow you to carry your character on, and I don't see why Dragon Age 2 has to be one.

That is quite true. I don't know if people expect to play with the same character because of BG 1 and 2.

If DA2 and DAO don't focus on the same main character it really doesn't make sense to obsess over not being able to play the Grey Warden from DAO.

To be frank, what would be the point in playing a level 25 (or 35 with Awakening) character? The game would have to be a high level hack and slash fest to cater for such characters...

It's like players playing Shadows of Untrentide with the character they used for completing the NWN OC (I met a guy once who complained about Shadows of Untrentide being broken and too easy when that guy used a high level character... No matter what some people will always complain).

There are some valid reasons for having shall we say misgivings regarding DA2 (voice over, speech wheel, no non humans) but it's a bit early to have an accurate opinion. Not exporting the DAO character to DA2 is not such a good reason (especially given that we've been told choices are carried over).

He would not be the first to get turn away from DA2 because VO, loss of origins and racial choice, or something else that is already a confirmed fact

maybe not but that doesn't make it less stupid. i mean he actually said (if im not totally wrong) that you cant import saves. thats simply wrong. and honestly, the only thing we know is that some things are changed and not that theyre going low quality or something.

...and still, it doesn't make it better. But each to his own. If you all already know how bad DA2 is going to be, well enjoy your knowledge, good bye and thanks for all the fish as I doubt BioWare will change those things you mentioned, being key elements of their storytelling and therefore for the developing of DA2. So the big complaining and nice drama attitude will achieve probably nothing.

What you just said is, essentially, "This thread is sh!t." only with more words.

I am sorry you feel that way,(well not really). But if people expresing opinions that differ from yours is such an offense to you, feel free to not visit this thread .

I do not find it offensive that you have an opinion, I think having opinions is important for a reasonable human being.

I didn´t even judge especially your post, what me annoys is more this:

whats the point of saying you wont buy the game in the forum anyway

its not gonna change the fact that we play as a different character other than the warden

Why would I buy a game, where I play a “nobody” , literally 0 attachment to the main character, that nonetheless is shoved down my throat like on Mass Effect , can’t change race , gender etc … only some minor insignificant things like hair color .

Commander Shepard = Nobody? False
Gender can be changed in Mass Effect and DA2, you just need to read.
My Shepard became what I wanted him to be, and I became attached to all the characters of the universe.
You can change alot more than hair color.

You mean a "nobody" just as The Warden was in Origins? Or are you telling you were already attached to your Warden before playing DA:O?

Why would you want to play a char that will be like an alive miracle?

The GW would be a hero, queen/king, he will be level 50 or so and he would have seen and defeated more dragons than all the Ferelden citizens...Nobody will mock you, nobody will start a fight with you unless they are utterly stupid....Where is the fun?

DA is not about a main character, it's about a land and it's history. You write the history. And Hawke is not a "nobody" he's already a hero, you just have to find out how he became a hero.

They can tie up the loose ends in the sequel or in future DLCs which i will for sure buy. Bioware never really did disappoint me. Let's leave them create, they are artists, if we don't let them try new things we will never evolve. Maybe DA 2 will be even greater than DA:O

Great another thread based on assumptions, no one outside of Bioware knows what the finished product will look, or play like. I'm going to buy it regardless of if I can port my character or not, because it's an adventure game in a fantasy world, that has been bloody good so far.

weird...i was pretty sure, being an ME player, you could select gender....i must've missed the press confrence where that was removed......i also must have missed the one where shepards personality was imposed on me......i thought s/he ended up alot like me actually....must've been a mistake.

What do you know? You are an ME player! You don't even have a inventory! How dare you speak up here!

@OP: Poor you. I wish you just the best luck finding hope again. Maybe one day you will discover a game where you are attached to the main character. A character you knew before even playing the game... Ah, like the good old memories from the time before I played DA:O... I knew the Warden's background. I knew his look and what will come... great... I was so attached to him before the game even started... nothing to be compared to Hawke. That guy has even a Surname! Eeeek!! Not like my noble dwarf Aeducan or my human nobles Cousland or my elves... or wait...
D'oh! Now I realized DA:O sucked too!

good point
ppl hate on HAWK cuz he has a surname.
but so didDAO characters like auducan or cousland
and cuz he has a voice....WOW
but now he can have a personality, or bring him to life

For the sole reason of not being able to continue my character and decisions from DA:O . It seems to me you just wanted to make sure the first Dragon Age game is successful , then mainstream as much as possible to
increase sales , disregarding that the game will be subpar as value and many
that will buy it just because they loved DA:O , will be unhappy .

I for one got attached to my character, the decisions I made, the relationship with Morrigan and so forth. <3

Why would I buy a game, where I play a “nobody” , literally 0 attachment to the main character, that nonetheless is shoved down my throat like on Mass Effect , can’t change race , gender etc … only some minor insignificant things like hair color .

Bioware will be off my game buying list, because it turned away from game quality towards selling mainstreamed games .:(

p.s. Even the forum is broken, could not log in my account so had to make a new one to post. <_<

DUDE SERIOSLY ...SHUT UP!!!!
MAYBE U WONT GET TO CONTINUE THE STORY OF THE WARDEN, BUT THATS NOT A BAD THING.
I FOR 1 CANT CONTINUE BC MY WARDEN SACRIFICED HIS LIFE TO SAVE FERALDEN
CREATING A NEW CHARCTER LIKE HAWKE MAKES IT BETTER FOR ME
I MEAN, Y CANT U GROW ATTACHED TO HAWKE?
JUS CUZ HE HAS A NAME, HUMAN AND VOICED??
THAT WAY IT FOCUSES MORE ON U THE PLAYER

I FOR ONE WILL BUY DA2 AND WILL ENJOY IT, BC I KNOW BIOWARE IS GENIUS

Our warden's choices in DA:O will carry over to DA2! This is confirmed! :)

I can't wait to see what Bhelen gets up to with the Golems I gave him >:D

Maybe you weren't meant to become super-attatched to your *Character*, but instead your *Thedas*. The world changed because of your decisions, so really you're customizing it as much, if not more than, you ever customized your warden. And the world you customized is CONFIRMED to be carried over to DA2!

Lucky us :)

As I understand it, you can import a save game from DA into DA2 and that will shape the world, but to what extent we don't know. I like that and will, depending on the PC specs, buy DA2. That doesn't mean that I am not still miffed that we (as of yet) have no proper resolution to the Warden's story. For me that fact that BW may not finish the first DA story has no bearing on how good DA2 might be.
