I personally liked the puzzle in the Honnleath DLC in Wilhelm's laboratory.

I mean there is nothing very challenging about them but they don't really fit in or make the game better. Positioning the characters on the Bridge in the Gauntlet isn't hard, it's just annoying because you have to move them around and zoom out to make sure you don't hit the wrong tile as they move along.
That doesn't really improve the game IMO.

Games should be replayed, riddles and plot twists are only enjoyable once.

so what?? i mean you just solve it on the first playthrough and have fun and on the scnd and third you already know what to do and youre through them pretty fast.

The enjoyment in riddles comes from solving them.
You can only actually solve it once.
Not to mention we are always given the answer (in a list of others).

There was the rune puzzle in the crypt at Kal'Hirol to get a piece of the armor, Hirol's Defense.
The stone puzzle in the Wending Woods to get a very nice amulet, Illumination.

i wouldnt define those as riddles i mean like the ones in the mage origin when you talk to the sloth demon. But make them much harder. Puzzles are a pain in the arse if you ask me like the ones you mentioned above but i wouldnt mind not seeing them in DA2 because i enjoy a challenge. And as far as less replay value due to riddles/puzzles, give me a break stop your wining cuz u dont want to spend how ever many minutes just to finish them yes they may not be as exciting as the first time but the second time you wont have to guess/figure them out.Lyna357 wrote...

Wow, im whining for pointing out how riddles dont add to replayability?

you point out nothing except your inablility to do riddles multiple times. Riddle do not add or take away from replayabiltiy therefore you statement is idiotic. And as far as growing up well diffrent opions and grwoing up shouldnt even be in the same sentence together, as people know at the toddler years that not everyone thinks the same. Unless you missed that life lesson?

If by riddles you mean the ones in dialogue options then yes but if you mean puzzles then I have to say no.
Puzzles are not very good when you replay them. They're only in the way. In a first game the novelty makes them interesting but once you figured out /found out how they worked they're just a waste of time.

The riddles were all insanely easy for me...since we were given dialogue options and all. I didn't see the point of them, especially now that we have the conversation wheel.
Yes there were easy, hopefully if they add more in DA2 they will make the average man think long and hard.

I remember enjoying the same thing all the way back in BG2 as part of a dungeon puzzle, but DA:O took it a step beyond, with the riddles in the sacred ashes quest adding a sense of mystery and ambiguity to Andraste's history.
I also love the little poems and songs scattered through the game -- the creepy little kid in the dragon-cult village, for example. More like this, please.

I think puzzles in RPG's are usually stupid. It's easy for the designer to create an interesting and challenging puzzle, but it's very hard to provide a reasonable explanation for why the puzzle is there. The Big Bad wanted to protect his ancient artifact so he put a sliding tile puzzle in front of it? Wtf? Heh, apparently that's what the mage in Honnleath did to keep the demon inside. Kinda funny a cunning, immortal being who effortlessly manipulates mortals couldn't figure it out, but me, a kid fresh out of the Alienage, could get that ward taken care of in less than five minutes.
When puzzles are justified and make reasonable sense, like they were with the spirits during the Urn quest, then they're awesome. I really loved the setup, but I too agree that having the answers in the dialogue tree was a mistake. I would much rather have it so that you have to type in your answer - while this creates it's own problems, like what keywords do you use for success, I feel that it's more rewarding.
This is all moot though, as I don't see how you'd put a puzzle like this in DAII with the new dialogue system.
