I have created psychological profiles of many many forumites depending on what weapon they desire, why, how much time they spent describing the weapon, its use, the historical context of such weapon, whether they prefer authentic looking or fantastic looking weapons and how upset they get about size.

After all, Mass Effect 2 added the sub machine gun class.

I think its entirely possible Dragon Age 2 will implement a whole new weapon class.

Yes, but there are only so many ways you can animate someone shooting a gun.

Wasn't it said that some mage staffs look like spears for melee combat?Phoenixblight wrote...
Bioware had already stated no Pole arms or Spears in game.

Or are you also referring to other polearms like the halberd or glaive? Both of which are better at slashing and hacking, though the halberd can also double as a stabbing weapon like most traditional spears.
Some context would be nice is all I'm saying. Especially since the effectiveness of certain spears is lost unless mounted cavalry is present - then again this is a video game so it probably would matter.
Frankly I honestly wouldn't mind to see more bladed pole arms in the next game.

I certainly wouldn't mind using polearms similar to what Hawke used in the trailer. That weapon was pretty cool to see.
No... haven't you read anythings the devs said? It's called a Swordstaff
It's not a polearm, it's a big pole with a blade towards the top... oh wait...

The promo item is the staff from the trailer. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the only such weapon in the game.
so theres more than one staffswords?

For instance, a spear could share the skills/talents of every other two-handed weapon, but just execute them in a different manner.
By the same standard perhaps you could have rapiers, scimitars, etc under the one-handed sword category.
Aside from that, I'd love to have a maul (as in the spiky ball on a chain kind). And I really want a shuriken in DA2. Practicality be damned, I want it!

Not necessarily. We really don't know enough about the arsenal to say for sure. But we already know there's one. So there's a possibility there's more than one. We'll just have to wait and see.
I don't know about shuriken. That would be a little out of left field in a game with generally European-inspired weaponry. Small throwing knives, maybe. That could be cool.-Rue- wrote...

Well, if I can't have my shuriken, a maul on a chain will be just fine
