Will NWN2 work well on a MacBook Pro with the following specs?:
OSX 10.5.8
4 GB RAM
2.4 GHz processor
I've read some conflicting reports on this. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

One of the biggest factors may be your GPU. In essence, laptops are not officially supported. However, that does not mean that the game will not work for you. My "Mac-Fu" is very weak, so I cannot say for certain.

OK, well thanks anyway, I guess.

The short answer is "Yes".
I'm running NWN2 on my MacBookPro 2.93 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with 512 MB VRAM, and it runs very well!
I can also run it on my old MacBookPro 2.16 GHz Core Duo, 2 GB RAM and ATI Radeon X1600 with 256 MB VRAM, but then it runs a bit slow. You just have to set the graphic options to a minimum and you will be fine.

Update for anyone interested: It runs perfectly fine on the system I asked about. Thanks all.

I played it for a while on my MBP with 2.4 Ghz and 8600GT too and it runs flawlessly with slightly lowered graphics settings. The Windows version in Bootcamp though, mind you... I have no clue how the native Mac version runs, but after what I heard I'd rather not try.

I'm running NWN on my Imac with SL (Core2Duo 2.0 GHz, 128MB ATI Graphic Card, 1Go RAM) and the video works perfectly. But I've got the messy voice problem that Windows users had. Any solutions ? (I'm using the French version)

Help! I am in the Third act on NWN2 and suddenly cannot access my character screen. The "C" button does nothing and when I try to access it on the through the character button, nothing happens! Amazingly, even when I go back to old saved games, the character screen won't come up when I know it worked during that part of the game. Please help.
I have a mac, 10.6.4 with no updates to the game.
Thanks

That'd be the first thing I'd try before doing anything else.
I mean, there's a reason why they release updates.

Was having a few problems with random crashes, nothing too major (solved it by simply saving often and crossing my fingers), and I saw this thread and updated using the link posted above and selecting the first link from that site. Now whenever I attempt to open up the game crashes on me almost instantaneously.

I've used it on three different Macs running both 10.5 and 10.6 (2 Mac Minis and a MacBook Pro) and I never have crashes playing the game. What hardware and OS do you have? Do you have enough memory?

I'm running OS 10.6.5 on an Intel Core 2 Duo (3.06 GHz if it matters), and 4GB of memory. Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4850. I probably left out some useful information there... ah well.

Reinstalled and replaced the local vault and save folders with the old folders. Back to the occasional random crashing.

My machine is a little slower than yours and only has 2 GB but the OS is the same. Sometimes bad memory can cause random crashes and you don't really know unless you are running something that is actually trying to use it. I don't know if there is an easy way to test the internal RAM though.

Don't understand (honest question), why people don't just get the PC version and use Boot Camp.
I have a friend who plays in my MP campaign; he does that and never has any problems, and his system isn't all that beefy.

Some folks actually prefer using a mac to windows, isn't it nice to actually have choices. And Atari knows this, they seem to always make a mac version, which does work even if it's not one of the better ports out there. ( That is assuming you have a newer intel mac as well, which is required for bootcamp )
There is usually a diagnostic disk that comes with macs. Other than that there are some utilities you can purchase which will do extended diagnostics. ( Techtool comes to mind )
Another alternative is just take it to your apple store and make a reservation with a mac genius, and they can look it over for you.

I'm new to NWN2 and and can't seem to find how to open the dropdown menu. I'm playing Mac version on a macbook pro.
I think i've tried every button on the keyboard but I must be missing something...help.

NWN DM: Not everyone who has a Mac has a copy of Windows to install on Bootcamp and purchasing a copy of XP may not be something they want to do. Also Bootcamp requires that you partition your hard drive which some people may not want to do either due to lack of available space. Also running Windows means increased risk of virii and malware and functions like Time Machine will not work while you are running Bootcamp. Also backing up files in a Bootcamp partition can't be done with Time Machine. All of these problems do not exist if you use a Mac native version. However, I find that if you want support, patches, an custom content then you really are forced to run the Windows versions of games. I use Mac software when I can and Windows version when I must.
Burnsides: What drop down menu are you talking about? The keyboard commands in NWN2 are for opening inventory, spell book, character screen, etc. If you are talking about context menus then you need to right click on objects. If you have a 2 button mouse and want to use right-click in programs then you need to go into the mouse (or trackpad) settings in system preferences and set the right mouse button to secondary click (or secondary button to right click depending on the OS level and device you have).

Kaldor, what I can't seem to access are character special abilities for instance the "talents" given to me by the statue of purification. Also if i don't have a rogue with me I can't find a way to have a fighter attack a chest in order to get at it's contents.

Drag them from your character feats list to the hot bar, or Ctrl-click your character ( which is how you do a right click without a right mouse button )
( just guessing as i don't play the OC )

Burnsides: First verify that a right-click on your pointer device is sending a secondary mouseclick. You can verify this by just right-clicking on the Finder desktop in an open area. It should bring up a context menu that includes New Folder and Get info. If it doesn't then you need to go into the System Preferences and set up your mouse or trackpad to send a secondary mouseclick when the right button is pushed.
If you are using a single button mouse then you will need to hold down the control key when you click to send a secondary mouseclick. You'll get tired of that very quickly though, so you should consider purchasing a two button mouse or mighty mouse.

OK right click is and has been active. Dragging the feats from the list to the hotbar does indeed work, thank you Painof....
But isn't there supposed to be a menu with skills and such accessible during gameplay? I remember in NWN1 there was a character wheel or somesuch that could be opened up with access to all sorts of stuff. (Of course I was using a windows machine then) I still can't bash a chest.

You just drag those to your hotbar as needed.
You can right click a creature and get options for slight of hand as well, or other things based on skills, most don't really apply though.
No the radial menu of NWN1 is long gone, lot of tears over that initially, but the options to replace it are much better really. After you get used to the new options you will have trouble going back to NWN1. Quickcast for wizards is much faster and powerful, and all the icons can be put where you want them instead of just in 10 spots, even the party commands you get with the V key can be dragged to a hotbar.
Add to that the user interface is adjustable. For an example ( something i have been working on ) Basically if you don't like the interface, there are ways to make it just like what you want, and there are quite a few things on the vault can let you have more options, which work just fine on the mac i have to add.
