I just installed ME 1 on my PC (running windows XP) and I installed the 1.02 patch. and TRIED to install BTTS (CD key doesn't match... More on this in a bit..), i start it for the first time and it tells me that the "Activation Limit has been reached. If you feel this has been reached in error contact http://support.ea.com"

Also, I tried to install Bringing Down the Sky, and I typed my CD key 3 times and it wouldn't allow me to install it. It's ALWAYS worked for me. I've installed ME 3 times total since I bought it 2 years ago.

What's going on?

BDTS does indeed have an activation limit, just like ME1.



I did think the limit was 5, not 3, but maybe I'm wrong.



I'd do as the message says and contact EA.

I just read the activation key screen carefully and it said to goto https://accounts.bioware.com/........(can't remember what it was) to retrieve my CD key for BDTS. (Duh on my part!!) Ok. i tried that & the page is no longer there. Now what?

I found the page and installed it. Thanks. Now the original problem exists. the 'activation Limit has been reached." I TOTALLY uninstalled the game & re-installed it per EA (including going into the registry), i re-installed it. i still get the problem.*sighs*

Does the regular game work without the BDTS DLC?



And is this your 4th install of BDTS DLC? Or 4th install of ME1?

Mass Effect's DRM has an install limit allowing it to be installed on 3 different computers. Is this your third install on this PC or is this the 3rd PC you've installed it on? I'm pretty sure that if you phone EA with the CD key in front of you or something they'll give you more installs. Hope this helps.

I got it to work. I contacted EA via their chat and had a couple more installs added onto it. Thanks for all the help.

Got to love a system which requires Digger-rigging by another party in order for the buyer to use his or her purchased product.
