DA was pretty cinematic...what exactly do you mean by cinematic?

I agree, people make it sound as it DA:O wasn't cinematic in tone.  It's just that this time, the PC can actually be the focus of the dramatic, non-silent portions of the game, instead of just staring ahead like a statue.

And what in the world does 'continuing a relationship with Alistair' have anything to do with my post? I'm sorry, did I miss something in MY own post that I was not aware of?

You didn't pop into existence in this thread. I'm well aware of the melodramatic threads you posted in regarding the source of all your disappointment -- which is fine, I completely understand that we didn't live up to your expectations. Which is exactly my point. The fact that people might fear change isn't a suggestion that they're not going to feel completely justified for feeling as they do in the end, it's simply that the mere suggestion of it makes people leap to some very swift conclusions.

Which I'll assume is because people care so much. So that's a nice compliment. I hope in the end those people who are so fearful end up enjoying the game or, at the very least, give it a chance before they become determined to hate absolutely every last thing about it by association -- but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. Posted Image

Expressing one's disappointment in a civilized manner is not being melodramatic - it is simply stating one's opinion. I apologize, perhaps I should consider being Lobotomized in order to improve your opinion of how I phrase my posts:blink:. I believe you are the one being melodramatic in your description of my past posts and it is actually quite rude. I have a very open mind in regards to change and creative new ideas and storyline - when they are indeed good ideas that make sense and have continuity.

if you don´t like the change in DA2 then don´t buy the game period, stop making sily complains about how bioware destroy your crazy obssesion about roleplaying:devil:

Please sir, do hold your breath. I am saddened by the loss of the red haired bard, but I am willing to forgive and forget, provided you put your considerable writing skills to good use on this sequel. Do so, and you shall receive from me... €50! Like 1/10000 of that will go into your pocket, so... yeah. Huge incentive, eh?

I shall enjoy DA2, no matter the premature criticism that may appear now and then.

Being a psychopathic murderer is a quite common and successful way of becoming famous. It is surely not the worst that can happen.

That being said, however, I would prefer if David Gaider became famous by writing another Dragon Age novel. "The Stolen Throne" and "The Calling" are both great, but I finished them months ago and I WANT MOAR!!!!!!

Hmm, ineteresting. So then who is the Batman anti-thesis as to David Gaiders Harvey Dent? (Not too shure I could see Dr. Ray Muzyka or Dr. Greg Zeschuk running around saying 'Im Batman' and 'Holy rusted metal Batman!'...hmm, actually now that I think about it ^_^ )

I wouldn't have as much of a problem if there were an in-universe explanation as to why the appearance of the darkspawn has changed so much (e.g. an experiment from The Architect with a virus changed the darkspawn somehow but not in the way intended.) but all we've been told is that "the lead artist changed" and "we listened to a bunch of whiners saying it was too close to PJ's LotR" etc.

As it stands, the game just no longer looks or feels like Dragon Age to me at may as well be a new IP.

You mean compared to the incredibly stupid in-universe explanation for the ammo mechanism in ME2? Ew. No, thank you. I don't meant to single you out but I have a special kind of hate for the desire to justify design level changes in lore.

Using Language like "crap expansions" (http://social.biowar...62382/2#3165328) and "trying to cram it down everyone's throat" (http://social.biowar...62382/4#3166541) doesn't sound very civilized me.

Edit: I should add that I too have some concerns but I'm also intrigued by the changes. Until I have more concrete information I'll take a neutral view.

Read something about the iPhone antenna problem, it reminded me of this thread and the complaints:

Quoted by Daring Fireball off Jean-Louis Gassée
on Antennagate  ...
When Dear Customer calls, “Canon Law” dictates the first words
out of my mouth: ‘This is terrible, how could we have let this
happen to you!’. This forces the caller to concede: ‘Well,
it’s not the end of the world, I just would like to…’ A
cooperative conversation ensues.

However, if I argue that it isn’t the end of civilization,
civility goes out the window. Dear Customer feels disrespected and
insists things are awful.

Is that why "Support for the Devs" turns into "Kill the Devs"?

I almost want to take threads from the forums, seal them in a time capsule, then open the capsule a year or so from now just before playing DA2. See how many of our predictions--the hysterical and the better-reasoned--came true. OH WAIT FORUM ARCHIVE :P Bah, who am I kidding? I'll be, ya know, playing the game, not trawling through the forum archives. That's for later.

Anyway, thanks, devs! BioWare's yet to let me down, and I appreciate good design changes as much as the next person.

Jasuke, did you hear that sound when you clicked "submit"? The thunderous, Thor-like hammering of a hundred index fingers mashing the home row in outrage, incensed that you would laud the dark agents who've stolen and crushed
A. All their Dreams B. All their  hopes C. Costume idea for the next Comicon
What did the angst filled and disenfranchised do before the internet? Five hundred posts tha degenerate into all the ways EA's minions have ruined all that is good and beautiful; probably a little foolish to hope we could keep one to ourselves.

For my part, I applaud the effort you made in starting a "thank you" for the devs;" thankless" doesn't even scratch the surface some days, I'm sure. Having the loudest voice, or the most capital letters in a post, doesn't equal representing the majority. Judging by the amount or art, fan fiction, lore discussions and other areas of interest (for all Bioware games, not just DA) plenty of folks are thrilled with Bioware's efforts, or satisifed enough to engage in some watchful waiting.
Thanks, Jasuke, for speaking up for the fans. Thanks to the devs for making us fans in the first place :)

Late to the party but I want to send out Dev-love too.

We criticize because we care (so/too(?) much) - you get that right?

Ok my quick 2c - stop using the male/het(?) version of your main characters to promote your products. The whole point of rpgs is that the player plays their own character. It looks like guy-Hawke will end up the "Official Hawke" like boyshep was the "Official Shep". Isn't there any other way you can sell the thing?

Anyway, hang in there, keep working, forget food, and we love you.

But to the exclusion of anything new or different? Before you even know (really KNOW) what that "something" is?
Say nothing of the fact that, not to put too fine a point on it, those lamentations can find a home in ten other active threads. Threads where such concerns are relevant, productively debated, and on-topic.

Dev support signed.

I'm not concerned with the main character being more scripted since the ME games are 2 of my favourite games ever. BW hasn't made me dissappointed this far (been a fan since BG)... well apart from the new KOTOR game being an MMORPG...

And I think BW showed us that a voiced main character does work with Leliana's song.

The only thing that I'm concerned about is the new combat system for console. Even though DA:O was a bit watered down on console, I still loved micromanaging my party.

Honestly while change can be difficult I think DA 2 has the making of a great game and honestly it doesn't really mean the wardens story is over. Everyone has doubts. I did. Now I can't wait to see what they are gonna churn out. I bet its gonna be good everything they released so far is.
