I've mentioned the similarity before. It'll be interesting when the game is out and art direction is discussed in further detail.

You, miss (checks portrait) have my support. I think so too.

I like Frazetta's stuff, but it doesn't strike me as very "Dragon Age"- unless of course we're just supposed to forget Origins and go along with the new Conan/He-Man/S&M/Heavy Metal/300 influence that seems to permeate the screens released thus far...

Yeah, the screens released thus far with all the super spiky armor, barren landscape, blood and manly man Hawke have a very Frazetta/Conan vibe.

Don't mention 300, please.
The new DA2 pics have more in common with Frazetta and R.E. Howard than that cgi abomination.

Oh I hope they don't draw inspiration form 300 either. Its just when you look at the screens with the gobs of blood, goofy darkspawn in S&M gear and manly man gruff hawk with beard combined with the "amped up" marketing speak of fighting like a Spartan, I'm thinking they're drawing a little inspiration from 300.
Or at least they're trying to market it to the 300 crowd.

300 was an inspiration for the combat and action and whatnot in the first game too. This is stated clearly in the DAO Collector's edition's "making of" video.

Yup- and with all the focus on "amping up" the action and everything, I've got the impression they're basically moving everything DA related more towards the Marilyn Manson New Sh*t/ 300 end of the spectrum rather than the Lord of the Rings/Song of Ice and Fire more grounded approach to fantasy.
Hopefully its just the marketing's take on the game like last time, but I'm not so sure...

Hawke looks more Ulysses than Conan imo. I kinda like the blood splatters, gives a dynamic feel to the screens. And there was 'persistent gore' in the first game remember?
Ahh, well. To be fair, I can see what you're referring too. Maybe they did draw a little from 300.
Damn Bioware, show me some new screens implying otherwise.

Personally I don't worry about it too much because it was there last time, and because they hit the right balance, in my mind. Until I see something that indicates that the theme and motifs of the game have changed completely, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
