Seeing how Bioware decided to go with the new main character, I was wonder who or what you would have like to play as in the new Dragon Age?
Who would you rather have as your main character Hawke , The Greay Warden , a npc that was in your party or morrigans child?

As long as I decide how they act and get to be awesome, I'm gravy. I'm not on board with this whole "how dare this Hawke person overshadow my Warden" because... really, it comes down to me overshadowing myself.

Why would you want to play as the godchild? You would just end up getting bodysnatched by Flemeth.

I want two things:
-play a sarcastic, flirty female
-have a great story.
All the rest is bonus.

Hawke... new character without being once more a godchild.
A ex party member would be the worst. DLC is short and you can stick to what you know about the character, but a whole game? Nah, thanks.
And once more: The Warden is a dead end.

Personally, the Warden would've been nice, only because I want to get some closure and pursue Morrigan after she ditched... it wouldn't be enough to support a game (or at least I don't think it would) but it would've been nice to see.

I'm happy to have the Morrigan-Flemeth faction (now with a new generation of twistedness?) continue as ambiguous antagonists.
Having the hero be the rebirth of a violent old god would have been a little bit too Baldur's Gate-y.
With the way Origins played out, I don't see how anyone can have expected to continue the Warden's adventures.

I'm just fine with Hawke as long as his story is epic and entertaining as the Warden's was.
People just need to let go... I mean at least Bioware has it tie in with Origins. Look at Final Fantasy series were you don't have the same characters, mechanics, look/feel, or even world as the previous yet people eat them up.
Give good ole Hawke a try before condemning him and Bioware.

From those 4 choices? Definitely Hawke.
I would be even happier with a brand new character entirely of my own creation, but I'll need to actually play as Hawke before I can really pass judgement over the concept.

By the way, if the PC somehow was the god-baby, and flemeth was a party member... that would be somewhat awkward.

Morrigan's child. In case if my Warden from DAO is the father.
A classic "I am your father! - No, that's impossible!" moment would be really appreciated.

I would have said "Warden". Why?
If there is a gun hanging on the wall in the first act, it must fire in the last.
-A. Chekhov
If you put a dark ritual and the possibility of a godbaby at the end of a game, you must deal with its consequences (either the acceptance or rejection of the ritual) in the sequel.
-Giltspur
But, at the end of the day, my Warden doesn't have to continue in Dragon Age games. (Morrigan does. Flemeth does. But the Warden doesn't have to.) What has to continue is the ability to feel like I get to make decisions based on how I imagine my character and then get something to think about as a result of what happens in the game. That's what RPG's are to me. They're not D&D. They're not dice rolls. They're not isometric combat or a bunch of menus and stats. They're character-based decisions and consequences set in a compelling, interactive world that hopefully have good enough gameplay to further draw you into your character.
I don't want to just be talked at because that's what movies and novels already do better than games and will always do better than games. Trying to become a movie is a losing proposition for games. You can't outmovie a movie. Games are interactive. That's the key.
If DA2 retains that, the lead character can be whatever Bioware thinks is best.
It's also worth noting that expectation can be different than reality. One of the reasons writers should be allowed to do their own thing rather than respond to the wants of gamers is because good writers can surprise you and come up with something better than you had imagined. Granted, it often doesn't work out that way. But Bioware's writers have, I think, earned the benefit of the doubt.
So maybe people think Hawke isn't what they wanted but come to like Hawke when they see what he/she can be and what RP opportunities are there.

As long as I get to control the character's personality directly, I don't care who he is.

Maybe they will make an expansion that will let you play as a darkspawn so you can play and see thing in a different way or even make it a spinn off of dragon age

I'm fine with having a new character besides the main character can live or die by the end of the first game. Having the main character be someone new makes it easier so they don't really have to make a cannon ending for everyone

I would have liked to continue with my warden. But, I'm not upset about the change in direction. I understand why they are doing things this way and I am still excited for the game. Since we can import our Origin's save I can still see what happened to my warden and feel like my decisions made an impact.

Initially I just wanted my Warden, because I'm obsessed with Morrigan and want to see that story to its conclusion. And I still do...someday. It doesn't HAVE to be him for DA2, though, and I am satisfied that Hawke is going to be a fun character.

I'm fine with the direction the DA series seems to be going in. I wouldn't mind playing a new guy each game, as long as the world keeps developing to my previous character's decisions.

new character/Hawke anyay over NPC/Warden/Godbaby
NPC is obvious since they will never be YOUR character due to having preset personalities the way blank slates like the Warden/Hawke can be
No Warden/Godbaby because as pointed out so many times before DA does not revolve around a singular character like ME does with Shepard. The Warden had a choice to sacrifice him/herself or tell Morrigan to get the hell out of his room. Those choices SHOULD be valid for sequels. Making the Warden (who may have died) or the GodBaby (who may not exist) a main character is a disservice to the players that chose to not go the Dark Ritual way.
