But will there be a new art style for DA?

As long as I decide how they act and get to be awesome, I'm gravy. I'm not on board with this whole "how dare this Hawke person overshadow my Warden" because... really, it comes down to me overshadowing myself.

Did Shepard feel like an accurate in game representation of yourself (to some he may have been but to me he was not)? I noticed a lot of people have chosen Hawke as they think that the character will be a blank slate but will he? Was Shepard a blank slate? Of course the devs have commented saying that Hawke will be more flexible than Shepard but how much more?

Personally I would have prefered the god baby, I see a lot of potential for this idea and I think that if you are going to have a predefined character you might as well make him/her interesting and give it a story that is vital to the plot.

However Hawke is the character Bioware has chosen so for better or worse we are stuck with him/her.

alright, by my count so far in this thread it goes:

"Don't care as long as game is good": 13

Hawke: 11

Warden: 4

"Play as Darkspawn": 2

God-Child: 1

Flemeth (lol): 1

But then again it's pretty early. This thread isn't even in it's 5th page yet ;)

In fact, if (when) this thread reaches page 4 I shall return to count the scores again! Posted Image

Perhaps you should turn this into a poll and link it to this topic?

Morrigan's child. In case if my Warden from DAO is the father.

A classic "I am your father! - No, that's impossible!" moment would be really appreciated.

You want a baby in your party?  Being that the stories overlap that's the best you'd be able to get.

I'm not a space marine, so no.  I'm not a Grey Warden mage, either, so my Warden was also not an accurate in-game representation of myself.

Why would you want to play as the godchild? You would just end up getting bodysnatched by Flemeth.

no with archdemon its soul that matters not the body , and its mostly probably that kids sould is much naughtier the Flemeth by million fold . You'll probably eat her if she tries anything or her soul would get destroyed if she were to go against you

but yeah let us play as god , that should be fun .

This is true. But I specifically counted posts that said "I don't care as long as X is included". Since we don't know enough about Hawke or the God-child to think either of them and X are mutually exclusive, I think its safe to lump those posts in the same category :P

I'm happy with whoever as long as we can import saves and our old character gets some screen time or is referenced which seems like is the plan.

first preference would be the warden, but i'm open to being hawke. i think mr. gaider said it best that the warden's story with the blight is over. if we continued with the warden it would have to be something completely different...
i do not want to play as the demon baby at all Posted Image maybe that's the guys being more interested in that then females. or maybe just me. w/e.

How did I know somebody would say that? What I mean is if you were a Space Marine, Mage ect would your in game character an accurate representation of yourself? When I design my main character I try to make him look and act similar to what I would be provided I was put in that role.

Because you knew deep down that you were asking an odd question that practically begged for that answer?

That isn't necessarily how I roleplay, and I suspect I'm not the only one.  When I create a character (in a video game or for a tabletop game), my goal is not necessarily to make "me" in a different setting.  My characters aren't divorced from myself, obviously (I've created them and I'm playing them), but they don't necessarily look the same and act the same way I do.

Well my Warden is dead, there is no God Baby. So I would have a choice between a NPC or Hawke. I will always take the new perspective in this case as the only character that could survive would be Oghren and no, I do not DO NOT WANT

I can understand that, not all of my characters are based on myself either but my response was directed at an earlier post where the poster said "I'm not on board with this whole "how dare this Hawke person overshadow my Warden" because... really, it comes down to me overshadowing myself." which seemed to imply that his Hawke will be an in game representation of himself, this is how a lot of people like to roleplay their characters (myself included) and I wonder if we will still be able to successfully do that in DA2.

I see.  I didn't take what he/she said so literally.  What it comes down to is that we are playing both Hawke and the Warden.  The Warden was already badass.  If Hawke winds up being more badass than the Warden, it doesn't matter to me because Hawke is also my character.*  If an NPC wound up completely overshadowing the PC, that might be a different story.

*I get that some people don't think they can see Hawke as their character, but I disagree with that, and that's a whole debate that I'd rather not go into here.

I had really hoped I would get to keep playing as my Warden. Particularly because I had become very attached to some of the characters, namely Morrigan, Dog, and Alistair. I know that just because we won't be playing as the Warden in DA2 doesn't necessarily mean they're going to exclude party members from DAO, but I didn't want to experience the Origin's characters they include as Hawke. It also relates to the fact that I'm ambivalent on how I feel about a fully voiced PC.

You cannot deny that there are a lot of people who model their characters after themselves, just because you dont doesnt mean everyone else doesnt.

So I kinda didn't get it.

Aren't we going to play the Hawke? Is this thread about what could have been or maybe we will be able to play someone else?

So what the hell is your point? Do you even have one or are you just here to point out minor spelling mistakes? I was trying to keep the conversation civil but it seems you arent (yes I know it is "aren't") mature enough for a civil conversation so I guess my best bet is to just ignore you like the troll you are.

So I'm a troll because I didn't like being accused, out of the blue, of making a claim that I actually didn't?  If you think that, you really are an idiot.  Go ahead and ignore me, I won't lose sleep over it.
