Why would you want to play as the godchild? You would just end up getting bodysnatched by Flemeth.

Or, perhaps Morrigan wishes to steal the godchild's body to kill Flemeth for good.

I'd rather play as Hawke, as I feel my Warden's story is pretty much over, for the time being at least.

It's really hard to say- not one of the DAO allies, to be sure, since that would mean virtually no roleplaying, but I dont think I would want to be the warden either, since I've long since grown tired of not being able to vocally interact with the world (apart from good old "Darkspawn-Sense, tingling!"). I look forward to Hawke, so long as the story is not EVENLY spread out over the decade it's supposed to take place over (as this would kill any sense of immersion, unless the game is really really really long) and I can customize him in both form and function.

i would prefer to be the Warden i mean while playing the warden you felt like you're actually the hero who pretty much accomplishes others declare impossible, and its why many people grew attach to their warden, its a shame that we dont get to play as the warden this time around, i can understand why a lot of people are disappointed i mean why have us do the impossible if were nowhere near as close to to this Hawke person. Its like you know *oh look at me im gonna make the most awesomest powerful character in DA1, then poof DA2 who the f*** is this?* lol

but anyways is still look forward to DA2 it looks like theres been great improvements to the next installment

You know what, I was thinking It would be nice to be able to create your own customized character and name him a name of your own choice (after all, most old school  Pen and Paper D&D player know how fun and the feeling of attachment you had with total creation of your own character) but more i think about it, more I agree with most that Hawke sounds like a great idea. You get to enjoy the DAO story from another perspective, like the DLC of the Darkspawn (haha take that Allistar). It will also be something new and challenging. I deffo don't want the Warden story.. I played the game and expansion and all DLCs, lol I over played it in all race and classes... I'm not interested in the Wardens. It's done. NPCs..no thxs... over playing the game as I did, I'm not interested in playing a already established character. The God-Child..noooooo thxs, it was awesome as the Bhaal Spawn back in the day of Buldur's Gate but it's over played.

Hawke is the way to go. As long as I can customize his looks and make him look as I see fit, that my choices shape the story... then the only thing that wont be of my choosing will be the name... no biggy...DAO you dont even get to choose ur last name, its pre-determined. I can live with that and I can't wait to play.

Hmm, on the surface, I would go with my Warden.

Why, because the Warden was more the 'Everyman/Everywoman' character that you felt was more personal to you, more shaped by you ( whether or not that was an illusion ) Hawke, on the other hand is a predfined 'named' character. Ergo, less personal ( despite promises that DA2 will allow character defining )

Its akin to how some others have expressed their obvious emotional attachment to their Warden, whilst not expressing a similar kind of emotional attachment to Shepard when playing the Mass Effect series.

The fact the Warden was silent reinforced that personal emotional attachment in a way that a voice actor speaking the lines of Hawke will not. Why, because the silent option gives rise to an inner voice for the player.

And Hawke, it seems, is largely set out to be the DA universe equivalent to Shepard. ( the mechanics of the new game, dialogue etc taking on a lot from ME )

I suspect when the game is released, despite its much vaunted improvements ( and some of those will be genuine improvements ) DA2 will be much less of an emotional experience for many players precisely because of these changes. And that will be a failure in a way because one of the selling points of DA:O was that it pushed the 'emotional' envelope in gaming further than it had previously been.

I agree with all of the above, said by Theagg.

I really like where things are going with DA2 and I'm fond of Hawke but I will always love my Grey Warden the most. This is the character that introduced me to the world of Dragon Age, helped me discover it and appreciate it. I understand that Dragon Age in general is about shaping the world, and this 'new chapter' is all fine and well, but my good old Grey Warden is my first priority.

And Sten.

I would like The Grey Warden to train  my god child how to fight and then use him/her to eliminate the darkspawn for good. im also game for helping morrigan do whatever it is she is planning to do with it. but id like to be my warden.
I like hawke but i dont like him being more important than the warden.

Maybe there'll be a way to play as the Warden in DA3. It's a long ways off, I know, but if you chose the Dark Ritual, maybe Hawke's death occurs as a result? If you choose the Ultimate Sacrifice in DA:O, however, Hawke will survive to be in DA 3.

It think that would be interesting, to say the least.

Well, in my version of DA 3, Hawke will have risen to absolute power and, of course, have become absolutely corrupted.

Perfect time for my Warden to return whence they mysteriously vanished to and deal some rough justice to Hawke. Giving the player the option to play either Hawke, or their warden. Schizophrenic !
