Since DA2, is a new game, I would bet on level 1, but we don't really know. I like starting at the beginning and experiencing the development of the character, so I hope he starts at 1.

Hence it is a new character and the import from saved games aren't Hawke's (s)he'll
most likely will be level 1.

Hawke will probably start at level 30 something champion and then go back to level 0.
that would ruin my day lol
its like the beginning of God of War you start as an all power bad ass then after the first boss you fight you lose all your power:blink:

level 1 of course, its an rpg^^
I really hate the new trend of starting a new game at a higher level (unless it's an import of some kind, of course).

I meant that you start as a champion and then the narrator tells the story from the beginning.

You start at level 317. The level cap is level 3,408. I really wish that they'd extend the level cap to 4,212, you can barely max out any of your UltraMegaXtremeL33t skills at level 3,408. Maybe they're just afraid the consoletards wouldn't get it.
me too
but the only real way to do that is if they made enemies respawn

i get your point
but the GI said we start as a commoner to champion
although i would like to see that
commoner > champion > commoner > hero

I am unaware of this trend. In what games do you start at a higher level in a completely new game (i.e. not an expansion or something similar)?

That would also get the game off to a faster start, ala Awakening.

does that affect what the current level we are on?
like say its year 620 and Hawke is lvl 20 then we jump to year 625 would we continue as lvl 30ish Hawke or stay lvl 20?

The answer that I've heard is 'we don't know'.

Perhaps they mean any kind of game where you start out superpowered and somehow get nerfed early on?
I can't imagine why they'd start at any other level than one (excusing early nerfitude), since that negates the reason to have those first few levels you're not allowed to be. Even if you start at level four, you are, for all intents and purposes, at level one.
