level 1 of course, its an rpg^^

I really hate the new trend of starting a new game at a higher level (unless it's an import of some kind, of course).

I am unaware of this trend. In what games do you start at a higher level in a completely new game (i.e. not an expansion or something similar)?

infamous 2 you get to keep your old powers from infamous 1:D

I think when you import your saves from DA:O to DA2 the higer level your on in DA:O the higer you start in DA2. Like in Mass Effect 2.

that would be so awesome
that would mean like we would start as a level 25-35 character:O

Since we're playing an entirely new character, that would be silly.

I'm hoping to start at level .  Low-level gameplay is my favourite part of an RPG.

No, but I would like a few extra items/loot for importing a save.

We'll start at level 1, get to level 3 within an hour, and then get to level 20 in the next 59 +/- 10 hours.

You're incredibly optomistic or slow, trying to decide. :innocent:

Well, if you consider that enemies level as you do in DA:O and DA:A and other Bioware games, it'll most likely be that way in DA2, so it wouldn't matter what level. So I assume it will be level 1 which Hawke will start with.Posted Image

No extra items please! In fact get rid of them altogether. The first few are fun, but now my new DAO characters start with almost 20 items some of them really high-end stuff and it's just redicilous. Or if they were somehow worked into the game, say NPCs gave them to you at an appropriate point in the game (Friend of House Dace Amulet given in Orzammar, etc) It'd be much better.

You start a new character in Baldur's Gate 2 at 68K XP (level 7 for most classes) because you can import your Baldur's Gate character.

You start a new character in Awakening at level 18 because you can import your Origins character.

Unless a Prototype kind of prologue is in store for us, I see no reason to start Hawke at a high level.

Due to Witch Hunt, I think items will somehow make an impact on import. I would be surprised to see it as a ME2 style import, simply because ME1 had a hard level cap that you could hit without cheats.

Perhaps they mean any kind of game where you start out superpowered and somehow get nerfed early on?

I can't imagine why they'd start at any other level than one (excusing early nerfitude), since that negates the reason to have those first few levels you're not allowed to be. Even if you start at level four, you are, for all intents and purposes, at level one.

JRPGs do this all the time. FF7 was the first.

I would say, that it does not matter since Game difficulty scales with level, unless they have changed that (for which there in fact are some recent indications from Devs).

I ques it will be level 1 as Bioware hasn't got over level systems yet.

Does it matter? This is not a D&D game, where there are different encounters made for different levels. Same with level cap. It does not matter. You know the first time I met the Withered in Awakening? He can't damage me at all but it took me quite a while to take him down because his hitpoints is 100000(or so it seems). He is just another darkspawn with a lot of hitpoints. It's one of the things that make combat so boring in DA.

Yeah, I mean, you can call it Level 12 or whatever you want, but... wherever you start the game, that would be the first level. So, yeah... Level 1.

Well, if we start out in Varric's exaggerated fantasy land, technically we'll be starting at some mythical high level.

Level 1, because in Thedas levels don't seem to indicate the prowess and experience of a character as much as it's just there to give the player some sense of progression independent of how strong the character actually is. (Although, I'm not certain if Hawke would be above level 1 even if level was idicative of how strong a character is, just because I don't know his background.)

Low level combat isn't as dreadfully boring in DA as it has been in other RPGs I've played, so I see no reason not to start at 1.
