If she's a mage then I'd be wary of her. I don't trust those pesky magic voodoo folk. They smell funny.

Bethany Hawke. She's a mage and she is NOT a romance option.

I'm hoping the villain/antagonist is more of a personal foe, if there is one. As much as I love BioWare, I'm tired of their usage of the "obviously evil big bad guy;" I want to see a primary villain who is emotionally developed, who you can sympathize with and who the hero has a personal struggle with.

It doesn't have to be all "ANCIENT EVIL FROM THE PITS OF HELL" to be good (In fact, it's far better story-telling if BioWare avoids using that cliche).

I agree, Saren wasn't a big bad, and his motives were understandable, which is why he was such a great villian and rival for the protagonist Shepard.

ME2 was kinda disappointing in that regard; you didn't have an antagonist to sympathize with. Instead, it was all "LET'S GO KICK THAT SPOOKY COLLECTOR GENERAL'S ASS 'CAUSE HE'S THE BAD GUY N' ****."

Hoping ME3 has deeper character/emotional development.

I kind of disagree.  The Illusive Man was a well made character, he could end up like an antagonist depending on your choices, but if you agree with his viewpoint, then he's not an antagonist anymore.

I never really sympathized with him, though. I always had the feeling that he was some sort of complete monster.

Now, if he gets a bit more development and becomes the primary antagonist of ME3, I'd be cool with that.

A renegade blood mage has made contact with the Reapers, telepathically bonding with the Harbinger itself and bringing them into Ferelden by sundering the Veil and opening a gate into Dark Space.

With Darkspawn still running amok, sightings of hordes of giant skyships raining destruction over Thedas are reported. And it is up to Hawke and co to destroy the Reaper fleet.

Then a shepherd comes along, shaves a sheep and makes a mustache.

There's a fun fact I know about sheep and shepherds, but I'll not mention that in public.

EDIT

And, NO, I'm not referring to the obvious fun fact...

DA 2 is political intrigue involving the city states of the Free Marches, the Qunari, the Fereldans, the Orlesians, darkspawn, dwarves, elves, an assortment of blood mages, templars and demons. Toss in strong magic and some sharp swords and well, stuff happens.

With there being 2/7 old gods left to battle after the events in Origins, I hope that I get to finish them off at some point, even if either of the remaining two aren't the final boss of any upcoming game. Eventually the darkspawn will awaken one or both of them and there will be another blight.

I just hope I can kick the Chantry up their collective butts and hopefully get some answers along the way.

Political? Darkspawn got involved in politics?
This I'd love to see.

The Chantry teaches us that it was the hubris of men that brought the politicians into our world...
