I liked him in Origins quite a bit, he was a good character, and his discussions weren't all terrible.

But what's the deal with him in awakening?

IMO, he is terrible, why is he so disgusting?

every time you try to talk to him he is drunk and burping and going on like an idiot, he is just so poorly portrayed.

I made sure to get him out of my party as soon as i could, i just could not stand him.

In Awakening, Oghren is on a downward spiral. One suspects that the events of DA:O left deeper scars than he let on at the time. Also, Oghren has chosen the one place on the surface where he can freely do what he was trained to do, and that's fight. Everything else seems to be secondary to him.

You hit the nail right on the head Janni. He's a changed man in Awakening, and if you took the time to do his personal quest and get him involved with Felsi he is running away from being settled down. He's depressed about all he's lost. If anything, I think Oghren is MORE accurate in Awakening compared to Origins. I feel this way because he lost EVERYTHING...his wife, friends, family, caste (pretty much)....he's one hurtin' unit.

Also most people got Ohgren last and never used him or had him around long enough for his dialog. Though seriusly what part of worthless drunk that everyone says Ohgren is, in Origens and Awakening that makes you think hes differant? He kills people cause he feels like it, Drinks to forget his problems has Ex wife issues, was banished from his caste, banished from orzamaar, and abandoned his wife and child on the surface. What part of this didnt you get?

Ah... but what makes a better warrior, then one w/ nothing to lose? Just ask the Foreign Legion.

As a warrior, he's more reliable than Alistair, or Sten... after all, Alistair is so wrapped up in self-pity, and the absurd issue of feeling sad about Duncan (who already had one foot in the grave anyway) that his effectiveness is somewhat reduced.

Sten is an enemy scout. What part of his story _didn't_ you get? He came to Ferelden with a dozen Qunari... to look around. His people, the Qunari, have invaded Ferelden what, four times? He mentions that he may be back, and the next time, he hopes he is not facing the Warden across a battlefield... no, Sten is NOT a trust-worthy and reliable 'friend'.

But Oghren... now he's the stuff. No qualms about killing for hire, no issues that he can't drink or stab to death. No loyalties other than his team. He would be perfect as a Legion of Dead, and IS perfect as a Warden: no kin, no ties, no hesitation. And, really, what are the Wardens, but a sort of surface Legion of the Dead?

Alistair just cries about everything.

Sten I like him, every time I speak with him wants me to explore more of the Qunari lore and stuff.

Now Oghren his the man! I mean who doesn't like a mad drunken 2handed dwarf berserker on your party?! Besides he is so damn funny , Steven Blum did a good job on voicing him.

Sten is actualy funny when you start to understand his humour.

Also Alistair is a whiny little B***H but he bearable after you harden him or better yet replace his ass with Loghaine (Gotta love Templeman)

Well, personally, Alistair is the character I can understand and identify with most. Guess I'm a whiny little ****, given that I can completely understand why he has such a hardtime dealing with (whoops, non-spoilers forum, must redact) the ****** ** *** **** ****** **** **** **** **** * ****** ** ***, and thinks ***** *****, ******* ********, *** ********* ***** arevery bad things.

I liked Oghren in DA:O. I found him just repugnant in Awakening, and no only because of the increased drunkeness, pissy attitude, and 'humor.'

I went to Orzammar first on my latest play through so that I could get Oghren. I think that he is quite funny.

I did to, for the first time. He's very funny at Redcliffe and in the related quests.
