I am not going for the whole paying for DLC.

Did not for Origins will not for DA2 unless it is equal to the original game.

Well, uh, it's kind of hard for DLC to be equal to the original game for a few obvious reasons. One: it's DLC.

That made no sense at all.

DLC's not meant to be equal to the original game, it's meant to be a push.

All the DLC was developed after the game was finished, you got your whole game for 60 dollars and could IF YOU WANTED TO buy extra quests.

And yet they shoved in a ****ing NPC IN YOUR CAMP who demanded you buy DLC.

"Hail Grey Warden! I need your aid!"
"What can I do?!"
"BUY THE DLC!"
"................."

Seriously, get the hell of your high horse. They couldn't put the actual content in the game, but the put in an NPC demanding you buy it.

It was pathetic, trashy, stupid, money-grubbing, and utterly vile. Let's hope that bull**** dies with DA:O

I already knew it was sub-par.  Which is why I'm wondering why they need to put a $5 tag on $1 of content.

I bought every DLC because everything dragon age pleases me, and liked every single DLC. I am easily pleased. Sue me, I like giving Bioware my money.

That actually just further validates my point.
"Spend more or we'll ruin your gaming experience with hamfisted characters demanding you pay for DLC."

I will not run after the deciders for that until judgement day to thank
them - I wait until the day after judgement day to express my gratitude:

'and thanks again for the mesh blacklist within 1.03 aside from spamming
and nagging us even in camp!' (pow!')

I live in an apartment with my own credit card, thank you. Even do my banking to! And who are you to tell me my opinion is less valid and I should run along just because I am a DA: O enthusiast? I will tell you each and everything I liked about DA:O DLC and why I liked them, if you want. It doesn't make me less intelligent to find enjoyment in things others don't. Yes, some of the DLC are less than perfect quality wise. But perhaps I liked the depth RTO added to Eamon's character, and Cailan's too? Perhaps it made me question the legitimacy of my supposed comrads. Perhaps I like the origins in Warden's Keep, of the Wardens and how a lesser number of them almost defeated thousands. Maybe I enjoyed The Darkspawn Chronicles because the Darkspawn Chronicles made my characters point pivotal, not to mention I personally love AU and writing to change AU. Don't talk to me as if I were a child just because I personally disagree with your opinion, challenge my opinion and create discussion. Flaming is just childish, mister.

Hm, well since it is rather trollish, I'll just make a new post explaining my position. I never make posts on this forum with too much thought so I might as well now, right?

When it comes to the DLC, I played the XBOX version first. I didn't have the wifi router so I spent months wanting to activate my stone prisoner DLC, and my dragon armor DLC. My join date reflects when I got the PC version, and I was so excited! Trust me, I could finally mod and buy DLC. I looked into a lot of them and even after awhile of playing the PC version I thought on it. To me, the point of a good DLC is to make me feel like I learned more, and add more to the adventure. At this time I surfed the Dragon Age wiki every single day eager to learn whatever I could about what is now my second favorite game of all time.

First I got Shale, and not only did she live up to the money I did not have to pay but she was extremelt worth it. A deep character who interacts with everyone? Not to mention a good tank, I was sold! Everything was fun and making good decisions weighed more heavily in Orzammar. Blood Dragon Armor...eh. I wouldn't buy it if I had to, but I own it, so I use it. I'm not big on armor or anything, and in fact made it a point to equip only items bought in game without DLC assistance on my PC. Made it fun for me! Didn't do the same for Alistair as he looked quit pimping in his armor.

Really, I loved the idea of every DLC...mostly. I didn't buy Return to Ostagar until a patch made Bann Loren's land available and I was guilt tripped into it. But really? What it confirmed for my character in game made me feel good about it. You see, I am a heavy roleplayer. A single paper in the DLC made my character exponentially more detailed. That's 5 dollars you say? So is a burger and fries at Mcdonalds. I could choose to buy junky food that will clog up my arteries, gum and a soda, or something that increases my enjoyment of a game. I chose the game, I was pleased. Warden's Keep was awhile later because well frankly, I wasn't too keen on the story. I'm still not too keen on anything but the history, which was indeed rich and I did enjoy that aspect. Most of the time my characters are too goody goody to learn the new specs, dang it.

Over all, for me, the DLC increased and enhanced my experience. If you are not a heavy roleplayer like me this might not be the case. I bought the novels for the history, I love Ferelden and it's rich history. I love the entire Dragon Age universe despite my skepticism. Dragon Age is the only game I cannot bring myself to steal from, or stop playing. I enjoy it!

Oh, and I'm a sucker for alternate universe. The trailers had me from the get go in Darkspawn Chronicles, I've been into AU since Sailor Moon fanfiction when I was 12.

Oh..by the way, I'm a girl.

You explained everything I feel about DA:O, except I have not brought Darkspawn Chronicles. For some reason it turns me off. Just one question, what is AU? Sorry if its a stupid question but I honestly do not know.

5 minutes gameplay dlc?

I must've missed that 1 before it was revoked from
the servers and I'm glad about it.

Hopefully no 'hello-goodbye' dlc will ship after DA 2 RtP's release.

The chill pill is installed in DA2...we have nothing to worry about.

DLC will always be pushed its more money.

No one will FORCE YOU TO BUY.

I guess it is ok to INFORM YOU IT IS THERE.

I suppose many dislike invasive advertising.

And I'm not even half as furious as I was when that stupid ****ty character vomitted up his demands that I fork over real world moneyf or that 5-minute long worthless DLC.

If you are capable to complete Warden´s Keep in five minutes, Congratulation. I always need nearly an hour to do so.
On the topic of the NPC, I don't like his presence either and voiced my opinion about him before and after the release of the DLC, but thankfully Bioware seems to have learned their lesson and uses less annoying ways to market the DLC since then.

I don't mind DLC. Though I think BW's DLC doesn't give the right amount of value for the asking price. Feels like everything costs double the amount it's worth.

...well, nobody forces anyone to buy anything. That's why after I bought Warden's Keep I didn't bother with RtO, DC or that Festive Pranks pack.

I'll guess I'll get Awakenings somewhere down the line (though sure as hell not for 40$) and Leliana's Song looks somewhat interesting.

Bottom line is: I want BW to deliver more value or ask for less $$$s. The balance is just wrong with their DLC.

I hate dlc, one reason why Nintendo is still my favourite console. I refuse to buy dlc, it is simply not worth the money. Expansions tend to be pretty good, though.

I wont be buying any DLC for DA2.

I buy for Origins though.

Sure, you wont.

I bought the Collector's digital edition of Origins and all the dlc up to and including Leiliana.   But I won't be getting the rest of the companion dlcs ( stopped in the middle of Leil's and never went back)  and I won't be purchasing DA II.   Unfortunate,  I loved Origins to death, but..just not happy with how things are turning out.   Continuity isn't there...and the large stories that could have been probably won't be ..example:  Morrigan and the Old God child.    Leil's story was okay far as I followed it, but really she went to prison in Orlais, not Ferelden.    It would have been nice to catch even a glimpse of Orlais,  but I guess they're not going to do that, and have already moved on to whats going to happen with Hawk in DA 2.

The other thing that bothers me, is the last two dlc have both taken place in Denerim...what happened to the rest of Ferelden?  hehe    At least Awakening took place up the road from Denerim and not directly in the town.

Why can't we see other places, besides the same, old same old places we've been to before?  It would make it more interesting...in my books.

So much for hoping to explore all the places on the map that were mentioned in Origins.

It's marketing thing, you wouldn't understand.

The marketing of fighting the uphill battle against 2nd hand saies?  It was there to entice people into buying the game new.

However, I'm confident that my brain can't function on the same level as yours.

I know you could buy them extra, but they could have very well just been apart of the game.

no.  not really.

stone prisoner was pushed because it wasn't quite finished and they had to hit deadline.

it was DLC or NOTHING.

would you rather we didn't get it?

RTO...was made after the fact.....meaning...no it wouldn't have been part of the main game.

chronicles and pad-our-pocketsday gifts we won't even speak of.

DLC is extra that they work on AFTER the game....which is EXACTLY WHY most of the time it isn't "up to snuff" with the quality of the original (though Shale rocks, nuff said.)

this thread is just the typical "wah I don't want to pay for extras but I want those extras" type of thread.

no it couldn't have been included in the original game.  NONE of the DLC would have even been released if we didn't have such a thing as "DLC"

get that through your head.  and try harder next time.

thanks for playing <3

Well, while I'm pretty ok with buying DLC (I have ostagar, prisoner and warden's keep). I remember Bioware adding bonus content to Neverinwter Nights for FREE. It was kind of the way things were done in the old days, you got bonus content for free (unless it was a full expansion, which was usually at minimum half the length of the main game). So You'll excuse me if I AM a little sore about it. That said I enjoyed stone Prisoner, and warden's keep, and return to Ostagar (take wynne and alistair to ostagar, it's lol worthy)
