Yeah, I know.  He would take names, kick some serious ass and wear Tony Stark's Iron man armour and shoot the Archdemon with the ant-tankmissile and just simply blow him up. Or perhaps he will simply uber-suck.

True, that we don't know much about Hawke.. But there are some small clues laying about, that the Mabari hounds on this forum can smell and fetch to make a small pile...

On Hawke's Path to Kirkwall:

If one looks at the Map of Thedas, Kirkwall is actually not so far from the Coastlands of Ferelden... Thus the shortest path for warrior or a wandering mage travelling there would be by the sea.. This presents some interestign possibilities such as encounter with pirates.. But that will depend on the Writer's disposition.

As we know Loethering lies close to the south end of lake Calenhad. There is a good reason to believe that the Protagonist will travel to either Denerim or Circle Tower or BOTH before leaving Ferelden from Loethering. This is suggested by some true genius who pointed out that hawke's sister being a Mage, would have problems concerning her phylectary before leaving Ferelden and going AWOL. I couldn't agree more UNLESS  the leave of absence is granted officially for some unknown reason. Thus we may expect to see either of these places before the prologue in Ferelden ends...

EDIT: It seems from some new information recently released that Hawke will  definitely start at Loethering WITH his sister, Bethany in tow. There he will be rescued by none other than Flemeth from the Darspawn they are fighting.  The inteactive map on the GI site, tells us that denerim is one of the possible places of interest. Since Denerim has two important aspects: Storage of Phylacteries AND being a Port, one can expect Hawke will travel there for either reason. There is a possibility that he will meet a beautiful Pirate named Isabela in the vicinity of Denerim who will assist/oppose/join him in his quests...

And thus he/she became the the person of utmost importance in Thedas....

What happens to Hawke between his/her arrival to Kirkwall and the end of his time is hard to guess. But somewhere in the story-line, we have been told, he/she would become the most important person in Thedas. Now that is NOT a title lightly earned... It requires a deed equivalent to slaying an archedemon and we know these opportunities are fortuitously rare....

To hold the fate of Thedas in his/her hand, he/she would have to be the person who guides the destiny of an event that affects not just the Free Marches where he/she is set to make his/her mark but the rest of the continent as well... In order to supply such an event, I would like to point your attenttion to something that took place in the Awakening expansion, which foreshadows a possible future.  If you ahven't already killed her, Wynne appears in Amranthine and tell's you about a conference planned in Nevarra, where Mages are going to gather and decide upon their separation from the chantry. This is a serious issue concerning all of Thedas, as the chantry is effectively not only the religious force but also a political one... AND it does not want Mages to go amuck!

It is sure to stir up anger against every mage that takes the libertarian side and result in something not dis-similar to an exalted march against whoever shelters the rengade mages... This whoever could be Hawke.. since his/Her sister is a mage by default...

EDIT: It is possible to imagine that an all-out war will erupt in Thedas due to the actions of the mages. We will perhaps see Tevinter either helping the mages through secretive or open means. In the resulting chaos, Qunari may decide to invade Thedas once again and there may be fight on two fronts for our hero. The mountains of Sundermount point towards a Quest that will unveil survivors of the disaster at Arlathan, particularly Slumbering elders that will shade extra light upon pre-Tevinter Thedas and the World. The Dales being mentioned, may be associated with either a Dalish/Elvish revolt.  It could be that the remaining interactive areas depict the political centres of Thedas that are either open to Exploration or participate as Narrative backgrounds. 10 years being a long span, exploration is not so impossible an event. We can guess that Orlais will be antagonisic towards the Mages and may be the chief adversary if Hawke sides with them. At the end of awakening, if one plays as the Orlesian GW, there appears a rumour that a new blight has begun near Weishaupt _damn_the_spelling_fortress. This is a possible plot point as well...

Have we been told whether Bethany is an apostate or whether she has lived at the tower? Same for Hawke for that matter if he/she is a mage. When everyone was discussing origins for the original game, an apostate was one of the most requested. I think a theme heavy on mages liberty could be a good guess for a significant part of the story.

i agree on what you say but id like to add that theres war. that COULD mean a war between the chantry and the mages but i actually dont think so. reason is: hawke appears to play a big role in this war (the inquisitor chick says so, or why else would she ask), id say hes propably its leader. i cant imagine a war between mages and the chantry being led by a not-necessarily-mage. what i could imagine is that hawke unites the free marches and then allows the mages to come to his new country, unwatched by the templars. that would ****** many other countries of (especially orlais). interesting about that would be, that, if we were a mage in DA1 and got the independence for the circle, ferelden propably would stand on our side in this war as some other countrys. and a WORLD war propably is something very important.

Yes. Very very accurately put. He could be the leader of Free marches against the might of Tevinter and orlais.. Particularly Orlais..

Orlais has political and religious reasons to go to war with Free Marches and especially Kirkwall...

That would be...disastrous. And what's worse; this is most likely what is going to happen.

If mages and the free marches go against the rest of the nations...they will most likely lose, but the rest of the nations' would be horribly weakened. Perhaps so weakened that:

a) The Qunari push south and take over everything save for Tevinter.

b)The darkspawn rally again, and start to raid more often, and possibly overrun the weaker nations (Rivain, Ferelden)

i wouldn't bet the marches stood alone. theyd have this one free mages state on theyre side, and propably ferelden (if you were a mage in DA1). and how would the other nations fight the mages without much mages of theyre own. i mean, sure theyd have mages but i guess not as much as the free marches + and allys. and ferelden was much weaker then orlais but look what a bunch of rebells did^^

THIS. I particularly like the Qunari option.... Mages are the biggest defense against Qunari.

That just makes it more interesting. From talking to Sten it sounds like it is inevitable. A Qunari invasion could make for an interesting plot as well.

Well, in such a war, I think very few mages would still be around. Too few to stop the gunpowder totting Qunari from taking everything and anything. Only Minathrous would be safe.

Unless the sister is an apostate and Hawke is too if he/she is a mage.

I think its quite likely that Hawke becomes so important due to a conflict with the chantry and the likely scenario is thats its over the treatment of mages. I can't see another reason why Hawke could become so important and the timeline points to the chantry being a big part of Kirkwall.

I don't think it'll be so much what Hawke does that makes him important...just what happens as a result of it.

No. I think the statement about him is quite clear.... He does influence the world directly... NOT casually ot incidently...

If this World War starts because of the mages it's probably between The Free Marches, Tevinter Imperium and maybe Nevarra and Antiva against well Orlais and the rest of the world well expect for Rivain and Par Vollen they probably don't care.

hm well even though the blight is something taken cared of by the warden, could it also be that since all the screenies we've had until now have darkspawn, that darkspawn have something to do with why hawke is famous?

There is a distinct possibility that Tevinter will join the cause of the mages.

I sense a possible quest where Hawke will have to gain the support of national leaders against/for Orlais in a war involving Mages.

THis is actually quite possible.

If you played the Orlesian GW you find at the epilogue that there is rumour about another blight at the Weishaupt_damn the spelling_fortress...

Another point in favour of some kind of conflict with the Chantry. The templars apparently run Kirkwall, so hawke is bound to come in conflict with them, or choose to support them if the game adds that flexability.

Yes...

Templars then according to your choice will either be your allies or Enemies....

From the newly released interactive map, it is apparent that Qunari will definitely be a threat. Primary or Secondary, is to be seen.
