The "chop his limbs off" bit was to see how far you would go.

At that point you should simply kill them

No kidding, but I never said I'd chop his limbs off.

I know.

Its pointlessly cruel.

I wanted to know how far you would go.

Or at least, say you would.

Funny thing though. The more a guard does it, the meaner he get's. So they rotate them through.

To me, that means they rotate the guards so that they don't get too insane.

How about "ban the beatings so you don't waste money rotating guards"?

It doesn't cost money to rotate guards?

Guard beats prisoner.  Guard gets extra-mean.  Guard is given down time to cool off.  Guard is now not working.  Money lost.

Prisons worked better when they actually made the prisoners work and didn't give them the luxuries of TVs and weight-rooms, etc.

Couldn't agree more.

I doubt they rotate the guards out of the actual prison, so they don't spend any extra money. Plus, in a prison like that with such violent criminals you need mean guards.

No, all you need is strong cells and auto turrets pointed at each one.

set to fire when it detects any movement.

I agree with Shandepared. Death is too convieniant. Some people like death, just end it all. Nobody wants pain.

Ten creds says he falls for it again.

EDIT: A Batman Gambit is a bid to make someone perform a desired reaction by exploiting their known behaviors and propensities.  The victim usually does not realize it and thinks it was on their own volition unless someone points it out.  It's on TV Tropes, and is named such because it seems that Batman does it a lot.

By rotating the guards they mean rotating the guards to another part of the prision.

The part where they don't beat prisioners.

Have the guard beat him, break his arms and especially his fingers in the process. Knock out some teeth.

Don't set his bones while he heals.

That would certainly be cheaper.

Be a problem if anyone ever managed to hack a turrent though.

I let it continue. Aside from being none of my damn business, if you ever talked to the other prisoners, you'd know that he killed someone in the showers. Not to mention he's at Purgatory in the first place, which means he probably did something terrible to begin with. He deserves it.

My only problem with this train of thought is that he killed someone you apparently think deserves a merciless beating - being in Purgatory after all - so...what's the big deal about the 'killed a man in the showers' part?

Because he's clearly not learning his lesson. If simply being in the prison won't make him better himself, he must be beaten.

And beating him teaches... what, exactly?  'Don't get caught'?

No. It will make him think twice before going around killing people. It's not like he's going to get away with it inside of a prison. Much less a crowded shower.

Ha haha ha.....Nope. The prisoner   next to him tells you he gets meaner after  EACH beating and when he's relesed he gets set back. So that beating does nothing.

He was talking about the guards actually. The guards get meaner the longer they beat, so they rotate them out.

No, he was refering to the prisoner  .........proof

Not they don't rotate guards through prisons.Image IPB

It's a reference to realising the prisoner on parole and making sure he does something to go back to jail. Remember the prisoner states that the prison get payed to hold prisoners, so it they want more money it's better to make the more aggressive to hold them longer

According to prisoner 780, he "only" killed "twenty or so" people, which he claims is small time for Purgatory. Purgatory is the ultimate security prison, being in space, built to house the worst criminals out of billions of people from hundreds of planets. He killed someone just yesterday, and the guard says that this was a "massage" compared to what he did.

This paints the picture of a sadistic, unrepentant serial killer. Don't forget, the guards are Blue Suns. They're already criminals.

He deserves it. I usually stop it though, for the paragon points. I agree that it's none of my damn business, though.

Turn it off.

If a turrent is hacked then that means you have no control over it.

I suppose you could have the OTHER turrents shoot it up but then that brings up the problem of multiple hackings.

and the need to replace those machines.

Bleh. My head hurts.
