Here for details

That's fairly bold marketing strategy for the makers of World of Goo. Data shows that the largest group of people decided to buy it for a single penny. Sales Results.

Radiohead anyone?

2D Boy at this stage is one of my favourite indie developers.

This offers a legit way for people to support the underdog while cutting out the middleman and not pirating it. Though Valve is pretty good on their end.

Awesome find, thanks bunches! Already got it awhile back for $20, I wish they had made an expansion or another. Lots of fun.

Good to see greed is well and alive in the minds of gamers, completely failing to see what the point of such a strategy is.

I was more referring to the majority seemingly finding "1 penny" worth the price of the game and then justifying it as "it's all I can afford at the moment".

If you have a PC, you probably live in a house and have a paying job and you're just being god-damn greedy and/or do not fully understand WHY game design is a costly thing and not everyone who does it are millionaires. :?

Yeah, FieryDove isn't greedy.

It is disappointing that so many people only pay a cent. I can't believe they couldn't spend $5-10 bucks on something that is fun, interesting, and worth several hours of play. It's depressing to think someone values what is obviously a work of love and considerable skill less than a can of coke or a pack of gum.

Dissapointing, but not surprising. I feel sorry for the creators, maybe they watched too many feel good movies. And trusted Humanity's ability to do good too much.

You'd be surprised at how much games like World of Goo can really get. They felt they could afford doing this experiment, but they weren't really expecting the damage it actually caused Paypal, which is something I think they regretted.

At least we have Obama's death panels to put it out of it's misery.

I paid $5 for one version, played it and discovered the awesomeness that is world of goo, then went back and donated $45 for a second version I gifted to my mom, who has loved these sorts of puzzle games since Lemmings.
