I made a new wrapper using Wineskin... using it as a test in making a 1.1 update for Wineskin, and since NWN is one of my favorite games.
It should be running great, though I haven't fully tested all install methods.
This is really only good for the game itself, it doesn't run the toolset right, or a server.... but you can fully run the normal windows version patched to 1.69 without needing Windows at all.
No game files are included, you must supply your own copy of NWN for Windows.
doh123's NWN related wrapper downloads
This link shows my NWN and NWN2 wrapper downloads.
Please follow the directions that comes with it so you know how to use it. Basically after you get it installed it will look like a normal Mac .app that you just double click and run like any Mac app.
The Updater should work... but if not you may have to install the 1.69 patch manually after installing both games.
This should work fine for multiplayer

Thanks a lot doh123. For those who may already have your previous version could you please list somehow the changes you made or the improvements.
I have downloaded your new versions and I would like to know if I really need to switch to this one or if I can keep using the old one.
Not to mention that I had to delete my windoz partition sometime ago.
Thanks.

I don't really recall for sure... as I've made a few versions. If an older one is working good for you, I'd say keep it.
from what I do remember, my last one I made was right after I added some fullscreen and resolution switching options into Wineskin, so probably only difference here is I actually tried to make the patcher work... I have it auto disable the intro movie. Although it plays without crashing any more is audio only, so I just have the wrapper always disable it.... and I've made a lot of bug fixes and improvements to Wineskin, which you may or may not notice on your machine playing the game. Its also using a much newer build of Wine and Xquartz, but for NWN that isn't as noticeable of a difference as it has been in NWN2.
The next big change wont be until I get working RANDR in Xquartz. Xquartz people are working on that... and I've been playing with the code some myself, but I haven't got it working that great yet... so whoever gets it first would be the winner... Once this is working it will let me add some stuff for (not just NWN) switching into and out of fullscreens and real resolution switching with hopefully better multitasking. All of that shouldn't affect NWN1 that much though really... but I like keeping the wrapper up to date with updates... one of my all time favorite games.

However, when I try to run the client through the WineSkin (nwn.exe) I reach the intro page, but once I try to go any further I encounter a "Eaccess violation.". When I try to run instead nwnmain.exe an error message comes up in X11 saying that a serious error has encountered and saying that there is possibly a deficiency in Wine.
I have been struggling to work and understand Wine for the last month or so, so far to little success. My installations of Wine are all from already compiled sources or binaries (such as Darwine, Winetricks, Winebottler). The version of Wine on my Macbook Pro is 1.1.44.
SCREENSHOTS:

(When running nwn.exe, this pops up right after the screen with the welcoming Drow lady on it.)
Please help!!! It will be most appreciated! Feel free to also contact me via MSN: electricsmoothie@hotmail.com

It should be working fine on 10.5 - 10.7 (yes I've been playing it on Lion and its been running fine for me)
It automatically fixes your nwn.ini movies settings too... every time you run it will autamatically check and set...
Disable Intro Movies=1
SafeMovie=1
both of which are needed. You should never have to worry about these. Hopefully you can just install your game in the wrapper and play with no headaches!
It should also work fine using fullscreen with multiple monitors as well
Remember you can use Cmd+Opt+A to toggle between fullscreen and a pseudo-window mode so you can multitask.

Just had the same problem. It is caused by the intro movies. There is some information on this here.
To resolve this I had to:
1. Remove the file MovieFix from the Contents/Resources folder
2. Edit the nwn.ini file and add the following two lines into the Display Options section:
Disable Intro Movies=1
SafeMovie=1
Now if I could just get the sound to work.

Getting the sound to work turned out to be a lot of work. Basically I had to update the Engine and the wrapper and that required downloading the Wineskin Winery app, creating a brand new wrapper using a newer Engine and wrapper version, and copying some of the files from the wrapper by doh123 into the new wrapper. After having done all of that I am now able to run NWN natively on Lion and everything seems to be working (fingers crossed). I posted the instructions at the Wineskin support forum and also on my blog.
