There is no such thing as "not moving" in space. "Stationary" in this case relates to that spot straight down below on the planet's surface. In relation to the Collector ship it means the Normandy stayed in motion (due to the Colector ship's own velocity, and the Normandy's motion synchronized with the planet's rotation).Archereon wrote...
If you're not moving, you're not going to evade anything. It might just be my opinion, but if something's going to hit you in space, and you don't move, its going to hit you.Zulu_DFA wrote...
Sir! Tell that to Joker, Sir! He's got his own opinion on evasive manuevers, Admiral, Sir!Archereon wrote...
You would never kill the speed on a military spacecraft engaged in combat
C'mon, it ain't no rocket science... Oh, wait...
Nobody's problem but Joker's. Maybe he was planning to "play dead", buy some time or whatever, maybe land the Normandy gently... especially since all the crew had already abandoned ship.Archereon wrote...
Plus there's the fact that if Joker brough the Normandy to a complete stop, as you said, it'd fall straight down towards the planet.
It's Joker!!! His last name is Moron!!!Archereon wrote...
Note: Even with Mass Effect reducing the fuel expenditure of course changes to almost nothing, its going to be easier, faster, and more efficient to make a manuever that doesn't complete reverse your velocity.
Brain damage is totally another story. I have made up a theory of my own on this account. But I am now hoping that with the PS3 release BioWare will issue some kind of official clarification.Archereon wrote...
there's still the fact that brain damage would set in rather quickly even with Shepard's body temperature greatly reduced, it might even do more harm than good considering that water expands when it freezes, and the brain contains a great deal of fluid.
