No, no they would not.
Also where those mages with Marjolaine mercenarys?
I think it was because they weren't leashed, or are mages unleashed in battle?
I personaly like the idea that the leashes have the same sort of power as in the Wheel of Time but I doubt that the Qunari would like it.

All the qunari you met in Origins besides Sten were Tal'Vashoth. There's no such thing as an actual qunari mercenary.

Mary! :o
Perhaps you could answer the questions!! Please be kind enough! <3

Then what are Tal'Vashot? They are Qunari that abondend the Qun I understand that much.
But why would they work with people like Marjolene and Jarvia, is it because they made them choose what they wanted to be? Or do they get paid in money wich still would make them something like a mercenary.

Well, it's already been covered, but yes, Qunari have mages and they enter the Fade when they dream.

I interprete her reply as: Tal'vashot are NOT simply abandoned Qunari. There is more to it. : THe QUN is a lie.

Is there a name for whatever race Sten belongs to?  Since Qunari seems to denote adherence to a philosophy rather than a race.

I think Qunari means something like: followers of the Qun.
It is also mentioned Qunari didn't oreginate from Thedas, so they probably went from there homeland to study and dominate the people from Thedas or they went there because there believes were not accepted in their homeland, though I think it's probably the former and not the latter.

The Qun is not just the qunari religion. It's the basis for their entire society. Qunari who "give up" the Qun have nothing -- no culture or identity of their own -- and many of them wind up essentially selling themselves as mercenaries for lack of any other prospects.

Ah thank you I wanted to know that, but still Sten says some Tal'Vashot attack the Qunari though I forgotten why...
Was it because they thought the Qun was wrong? Even if they chose to abandon it? Or is it for a simmellair reason as Sten they lost there sword (or something equally important for their place in society) and could not return?

On behalf of one of the forumites, I would like to ask what is the entire business with Qunari horns... they are on top on Ogres only... Do Qunari females have Horns?????????????????????

Or is it "simply" a Darkspawny mutation?

My thoughts are that the Qunari used to have (or still have) helmets with horns attached to them, maybe it is something for higher classes of soldiers.

The way the Qunari treat there mage's kinda remind me of the way the Seanchan treat there women with power in the Weel of Time (kept on a special leash to control their powers, kept in small rooms simelair to cages no tong cut out though) thoughts anyone?

Ooooooh, I wonder how far the similarity goes... I bet they wouldn't be pleased to find out that the ones carrying the leashes would be leashed given a little more power! :o

Indeed.

Make that conquer and enlighten and you are closer to the truth. They started an invasion and forced every conquered country to convert to the Qun and it took an alliance of all the nations of Thedas and several exalted marches to drive them of the continent.

Well, one could argue the Qunari's way is wrong, yet they are the most technologically advanced race/country/people in Thedas (methinks at least?). If people will keep themselves out of technology, going against the Qunari will be like the Polish in WW2 against Germany : Riding horses, using sword against Tanks and machine guns.

I forgot about the converting people to the Qun, don't the Riviani people still believe in the Qun?

I think they follow a watered down version of the Qun that is not as strict as the rules followed by the Quanari regarding social norms.

1. Yes, but apparently they cut out their tongues.
2. Why wouldn't they?

I have no good reason to ask... I am just curious about the Qun.

The Qun is their creed, their way of life. In other words, it can be considered their religion for lack of a better word.
Qunari do have mages that they keep in pens similar to animals and they cut their tongue out, how they do it without having a fireball hurled at them first is unknown to me. I know I wouldn't let them cut my tongue out without killing a few of them. The humans defending Thedas used fireballs in response to the Qunari's cannons which proved to be one of two advantages the humans had to make a difference, the other being numbers ( The qunari don't use mages at all and they had far fewer soldiers which is why they were unable to advance further than the outskirts of Thedas
Qunari can enter the fade as a mage or in dreams.

Aren't those Qunari comedians a hoot, though? "You many wonder why a chicken crosses a road? Do not, for you are unworthy of a punch line."

Where have you read that Qunari only cut out the tongues of Blood Mages?
I thought they cut out the tongues of all mages, can you send a link of that statement or refere to a Codex Entry?
