Human, elf in second place.
If you had to choose one race to play as in DA2....

Human -though I would not have minded an elf origin for a 2nd playthrough.
They can keep the Dwarves, however. Never liked that concept.

I would love to play as a disciple, but I'd take playing as a human, dwarf or qunari over playing as an elf any day. I hate elves.

human, as a commoner pref, non-mage. it's what i wanted to do in the original game when i found out that elves weren't the tall, beautiful creatures we've become accustomed to.

Well, if there's only one then human it is, definitely. Obvious choice is obvious.

I usually play as human, however I like the idea of not being a noble, starting off as the son/daughter of a prostitute and the town drunk to become the Overlord Champion God Emporer of Everything Forever (or OCGEEF).

^Hehehe. God Emperor is such a cool title.
Can't I pick Dragon as a race I'd like to play?
Kinda like the Dragons from Dragonlance, anyway, who can assume other forms (such as an Elf or the like)
I mean, it IS Dragon Age...

Qunari hands down.
Yeah. I wish that we got a DA game set in Par Vollen - now that would be awesome. Hopefully we get a large expansion like Mask of the Betrayer at least. In the really play-it-safe world of the game industry, I don't think it would be easy to release a full game set in a really bizarre, interesting place like Par Vollen because it wouldn't be seen as a money maker.

While I'm certainly not complaining about making Hawke human, I think this is an unfair question. Most people "prefer" humans because they don't feel constricted by the perimeters of the fictional species' culture and identity. I know I can identify easily with humans and make them run a range of different personalities, but elves and dwarves tend to always reflect back on them being elves and dwarves.
Most people of course are going to pick human if they can only have one--most people always root for the home team, so to speak.
I certainly prefer human--no frackin' doubt about it, I hardly played elves or dwarves--but people liked having the chance to play something that isn't like them. I'm sure while some people felt constricted by being a different species (like I), some felt freed.
I only point this out because I do feel like the post was made to prove a "point", as previously suspected.
That being said, yeah, I really do want to see more of the qunari.

If DA2 was going to be like Origins with multiple start points I would definitely choose Qunari. But for the story they want to tell this time around I think being human makes the most sense. I hope they at least involve the Qunari more as NPCs in this game.

I'd go for an elf cuz I play a male and Human's look too manly in this game for my taste. I like my characters to be more metro like. It is just impossible for me to make a ''good'' looking human male with the given editor. Then again if you even manage to do the face the body is still too curved unlike more slender elven one.

Elf or Qunari
Still I'm fine with the human as long as I get to play as a female

I played through DA:O 6 or so times, and found myself playing as a human the majority of those playthroughs

I generally prefer playing elves (familiar enough to be relatable, but exotic enough to be interesting), but if I had to choose one, I'd say human too. They've got to appeal to everyone's tastes, not just mine.
Elves and Dwarves aren't humans, they're Elves and Dwarves (respectively). That's like saying "I thought cats were dogs."MistySun wrote...
If i wasn't a piece of driftwood floating on the wild ocean i could of sworn that elves and dwarves are HUMANS. Or did that change since i went to sea?

I would choose a human, so getting rid of the option isn't really a problem with me.

Sten, at several points, refers to humans in a way that strongly suggests he isn't one. Such as asking how strong human teeth are.

Probably human or elf. I never played dwarven origin even in DA:O.
Qunari depends on customisation and dialogue options.
