To be honest, Kestrel armor is the über boob armor. :D That certain part is massive in Kestrel armor and it makes it looks funny.

Well, at least the Kestrel looks utilitarian and comfortable. The cup-armour is just silly!

A bit late but biotics and fires? Why have a screenshot with one when you can have both?

Image IPB

And have a shiney soldier as well.

Image IPB

As for the Kestrel chest plate. I don't like it personally. Not because if doesn't have curvy boob sections but because I'm so used to to seeing my femshep in a particular piece of armour that she doesn't look right to me in something else.

I can't not have Moira in a Kestrel chest plate, because I'm so used to it now. XD It's very much a part of her look:

Image IPB

It's true, though. I get used to seeing different combos of armor pieces on my Sheps and have a hard time changing them.

I need a little help. I'm currently about to re-start my canon playthrough with Ivy in the first Mass Effect game. I was wondering if someone knows how to enable flycam there? Also, I have flycam enabled in ME2 but can only use it during cutscenes. How do I enable it when I'm out of cutscenes?

@Aeowyn: I highly recommend this mod for good quality screenshots with fixed fov where perspective doesn't ruin your images:

Also, you can learn to modify BIOGame.ini & BIOInput.ini by yourself to add other features (Clean Movie lack "freeze game" and "tiledshot" buttons that you can find useful). Sagequeen's game blog contains simple instructions for that.

Clean Movie Mod is so awesome. I use it in conjunction with "No Selection Box" texmod to make my ME vids. The one I'm going to be finishing here in a few hours is heavy on the flycam and some shots wouldn't have been possible without that texmod.

@Akodo: Thanks. I did try editing the coalesced following Sagequeen's instructions before but it never worked for me. I'll take another look.

Edit: Nope. I have no idea what it is, but that mod didn't work for me.

Well, for me it worked like magic, but my game was overwriting BIOInput.ini at startup, so in properties I set the file as for read only. Maybe that will help.

This is how it looks by the way. (fragment)

Just copy and paste the bindings from the mod file into the BioInput file you already have under [BIOC_Base.BioPlayerInput]

And remove the semi-colons.  Or it won't work.

Ok, delurking to say that I love the shots you guys take on here! I am very jealous. All I have been able to mod my Shepard with is her hair, but I think it really suits her. I would love the black asari commando armour or the assassin armour I have seen people with in ME2, but when I have tried to download them, it wouldn't work on my computer :(

But here are some of my mainshep anyway!

love. oh, to have pulled back hair with wispys around the face. seriously, unless femshep uses omnigel as hairgel, there is no reason for her hair to stay in the bun that well.

flycam in cutscenes or in gameplay? or both? cutscenes and gameplay have different modes - you'll have to put the codes into 2 different parts of the .ini file.

i did a blog post on this a while back: this is part 2 of those instructions, so see the earlier post if you need the other half.

Hmmm...

Well, I'm a gal, and I maintain that over-sexualized is a fine line. Miri in a catsuit - oversexualized. Shiala in a catsuit - never struck me as such. Benezia's dress? oversexualized. liara in anything at all - not over sexualized. Something about how they pull it off? Or maybe it's directly related to bra support. If it looks like it 's gonna bounce with every step, it's oversexualized?

Image IPB

L to R: catsuit that is cool. catsuit that i find ridiculous, esp. with the heels. catsuit that i loove.

Dunno. All I can say is, I like my shep in a catsuit. She reminds me of another lady who pulled of catsuits really well (And who took crap from no one.)

Well I made it work in ME2 for gameplay. I already had flycam modded in for cutscenes so I'm hoping that it hasn't been affected.

@Jade Elf & Captain: Thanks

I agree with sage about armor.  Oversexualized from my perspective seems to have more to do with design details than how bodyhugging it is.  I dunno if I'd call the ME1 style medium armor a catsuit though.  It's clearly armored as opposed being some kind of skin tight textile.  I guess it depends on your definition of catsuit.
I like the current boob armor.  I never use the Kestrel because it looks to bulky on my Sheps, but I don't mind the gender neutral design.  I wouldn't mind some kind of Mass Effect style tactical vest.

Urghh don't get us started again with that last pic :P  Actually I think its been discussed to death enough!

But your femshep looks great.  Modding certainly adds to her individuality, the hair glowing would be great for a night out on Omega!   For everywhere else its:

Scout: "Crap I can see Shepard"
Base: "where?"
Scout "400m away, shes all lit up like a christmas tree!"
Base: "well take a shot!"
Scout "Hell no!  I'll be dead before I line her up in my sights!"
Base: ...
Scout "Hello?...  Man you there?"

*Turns around to a pile of rubble*

Scout: "ahhh there goes my wages. Guess she doesnt need stealth,  ohh look a stray Varren... good puppy... what does name tag say?  Urz... oh fudge!!"

I've held forth more than once on the virtues of women wearing realistic armor vs. fantasy armor, whether it's in actual fantasy, sci fi, or even real life, and why boob armor is a bad idea.

Jessica, regardless of the game, wears the bulkiest, hardest powered armor she can get her hands on.  She calls it her "crab suit".  As a Spectre, that was the Hazard Suit by Jormungand Technologies:

Image IPB

As an ex-Spectre-pseudo-reinstated, she wears the Kestrel, because for some reason she can't get the Hazard Suit any more, even though she prefers the ME1 technology.

Image IPB

Jessica's getting shot all the time, as well as pummelled by Husks, charged by krogan, and spit at by thresher maws, to say nothing of being warped, incinerated and overloaded by mercenaries and synthetics the galaxy over.  Darn right she's going to wear the thickest slabs of metal she can find, kinetic barriers or no kinetic barriers.

Kestrel is the only realistically shaped armor actually available by default in ME2, so that's my preferred outfit.  It's not "de-feminizing" at all.  Women can be feminine without making their breasts obvious, thank you very much.  Femininity is entirely independent from body shape.

Awesome screenshots, everyone! As always. ;) <3

As for armour, my Sheps have varying preferences, depending a lot on their respective personalities and class. Eg. my Soldiers and Vanguards tend to wear heavier, bulkier armour.

There's not really any way to over-sexualise FemShep in terms of apparel. Thus I'm inclined to agree with Jamie's theory: that in some ways, she was a lucky accident, and getting less attention from marketing is probably a good thing.

As an aside, though, it's not just women who experience unrealistic portrayals in video games (although they are unarguably treated in a more exploitative manner). Us men don't always come in the unstoppable-slab-of-muscle or astoundingly bishounen varieties.

@ sable: love the blog post!

re: shep's armor - i think it really depends on the shep. kyrie is an adept, has barrier flaring all over the place in 99.9% of her battles. so

1) that overheats her FAST. the less plastic, the better.

2) she runs around the field a LOT, hiding in cover, vaulting over crap, throwing out singularities. the plastic armor looks challenging to run in. adept ninja needs ninja-suiting.

3) whatever the heck they do to armor in the future must be able to make amazing fabric, so i'll buy it that light/medium/heavy armor can be made out of recycled scuba suits and still keep out bullets

and mostly...

4) I like the profile of my shep in light armor. i got used to it in ME1, so in ME2, she just looked bulky to me. I had this idea of her as this cross-country runner's build (biotics go through a LOT of calories, after all), so armor-bound, muscle-bound shep was just not how i saw her. i felt the need to go back to the jumpsuit, if only to give the illusion that she had a particular build.

my reasoning, anyhow. however, i LOVE jessica in the crab-suit, as it fits her to a T.

I think we all have our reasons for which armor's we like the most ranging from appearance to realism.  With a universe like Mass Effect, I think they can all be explained in some fashion to make sense.  Like the light armor?  Shep is using some high tech space fabric/kinetic/biotic barriers.  Like the heavy armor?  They're made out of some super hightech ceramic that is both light and easy to move in.  Most drawbacks can be explained away fairly easily.

I'm probably somewhere in the middle, it's a tradeoff between form and function.  But I do like my characters to visually correspond with their supposed specialties.  Adepts, the space mages, I like in light armor.  Soldiers get heavy armor.  It's an aesthetic preference.  I also change out the degree of armor depending on game location, so I may be a bit more OCD than most.  I don't have my Shep in full kit on places like Illium or the Citadel, likewise she's not going to be wearing a sweater on the Collector base.
