re: me hair (again...)

mebbe i'm wrong here, but it feels like they made hairstyles for the NPCs - "here's a short one. here's a bob. here's another bob" - and then gave them to femshep as an afterthought, rather than designing them with a female marine in mind.

ash's hair rocks, because it SO what military girls actually wear. longish hair? pull it back low (out of way for helmet) and some of it falls loose. <--that's the key, really. when you pull hair back, it falls loose, and depending on the hair type, it falls loose differently. give the existing bun styles something around the face and you'd fix most of the problem right there.

top o page "you humans are all racist" awesomeness (kudos to meonlyred for this):

Frankly, I never understood the adherence to military standard in regards to hair. It may traverse outside the realm of realism but half of ME2 does this on its own accord anyway. Why not provide the player with the option to determine what is and is not realistic for them? Miranda threw their supposed standard out the window considering she has back length hair and an alternate to helmets. In the end it is wishful thinking at best but it certainly would be nice to have a new array of selectable hairstyles for both Shepards.

hmm... in German Army women are allowed to wear their hair long example, the same goes for Isreal. So having longish Hairstyles ingame is more than ok, wish they'd include an long ponytail :innocent:

Kary is right, hair standards vary greatly though out the armies of the world. . . In some cases there are little to no standards at all for male and female solders!

Welp anyway time to post some stuff I've been messing with. . . a bit of clean up here / glare removal. . . a bit of reflective play there.. . concept stuff (aka just doodling the photoeditor way I suppose. :P or looking for different routes to complete things. Usually when I'm stumped by something I delve into the RL stuff and begin digging, if it was a few years ago this would include pulling up various props and scratching a concept out on a drawing table before digging out the editor. . . But things are so much faster with the new compys these days and when one dosen't need the old Nikon CoolScan + developed negs well. . . )

Not going to give ya blown up picys on these two tho!!! For some reason I've been getting tons of traffic on the bucket. . . Maybe some folks out there like the Vorcha Cookie stuff? *ponders*

Question times!

Has ther ever been a time where you Femshep didn feel so hot? no like after Horizon or something cuz that's "canonized" but any other time?

There are a few times that come to mind for Madeline:

1) The death of her Grandfather, (Ret.)Adml. Ewen R. Shepard (Feb-4-2061 - Oct-3-2168) when she was 14. She was very close to him and was devistated by his death.

2) The recovery and burial of her parents remains (Anthony F. and Hannah R. Shepard). In 2172, the Alliance Department of Colonial Affairs and the Mindoir Colony Board of Directors began the grusome task of identifing the remains of 337 victims from the massacre that had been found in a mass grave and had been previously listed as missing. The process was long and difficult and in July of 2182, two of the last 5 remains were positively Identified as those of Madeline's parents Anthony F. and Hannah R. Shepard.

Maddy was on shore leave when notified and arranged to esscort her parents bodies back to earth aboard the SSV Kitty Hawk (Registry No. SR NC-2097). She had watched them both die, but recovering them and laying them to rest was just as hard if not harder.  Even harder was the fact that the body of her older brother Morgan James Shepard was not among the 337 undentified remains or the 138 previously recovered victims buried in 2172. To this day, it has never been found and is the only victim listed as "Missing"

That would give anybody a bad day, particularly since this is a year before the events of ME1. Goodwood would be interested to see if something like that played out for the Colonist Sheps in ME3, along with similar ties to the pasta of Earthborn and Spacer Sheps.

@ Mr. Vakarian, Goodwood - I would love to see shep's background play a role again in ME3. there were many references to it in ME1, and it gave shep a real sense of being a real person with a real past. the complete ignoring of it in ME2 (esp. for sole survivor - joining cerberus? seriously?) just contributed to that "forget shep, we have new squadmates to introduce you to" feel for the game. i would love to see them return some of the role play elements that i loved from ME1. the people only here for the shooting can ignore them if they don't like them.

I think the best thing that Bioware could introduce into ME3 would be a "enable/disable roleplay" toggle somewhere in the settings...  The shooters could just turn it off and shoot/sex their way through the game, while the rest of us could leave it on and actually enjoy our space rpg like we want to!

RE: Military hair

While I'm a guy, and just go with the short, buzzed hair, one of the reasons militaries have preferred hairstyles (the poster on regs is on the wall at the base barber shop/hair salon) is for professional appearance (we want everyone to look like they know what they're doing and slightly badass), and hygiene. You might not think about it, but fleas, lice, and crowd diseases would be a major problem, and hair trimming is a way to avoid things like that.

Also, in recruit training, uniform haircuts are a mildly traumatic experience to promote bonding.

this would be awesome. minimal dialog for those who want minimal story (and are using minimal brainpower <--she says, snidely).

i would leave mine toggled for "give me the 200 hour miniseries, please"

I may catch some flak for this, but the only reason why I think that having multiplayer in ME3 might be a good idea is so that they can let the shooter fans have that, and let the rest of us have a decent RPG in the single-player mode.

Of course, that assumes that EA would give Bioware enough time to make both parts of the game adequate, which is never gonna happen...

lol I'd pick that option too. I'm noticing people finishing DA2 yesterday and I'm thinking "they must have skipped the side quests" I'm leaving no side quest unfinished evenif admiral hackett needs me to save a kitten from a tree. (preferably shooting it down) I can see how that'd go....

Kallen: *shoots the branch a few times and kitten falls and scratches her face*
Miranda: told you that would happen.
Ashely: but A for effort Skipper.

I tend to think Lynn would act in one of two ways. . . If it was a good day. . . you know the sun was shining maybe even rainbows and such, birds chirping, & little kid crying for kitty. . . She might try going the extra mile to get the kitty down safely. . . .

On the other hand. . . (yes yes I know I'm detecting a few 'oh noes' out there. . . .)

On a bad day. . . you know someone wakes up extra cranky, Thane of course drank from her coffie cup so she's hallucinating a tad, Joker / EDI arguements started getting on her nerves, generally one of those nasty grey cloudy days, too many being an ass, and a loudly howling cat up in a tree, with no kiddies near. . .

Well then. . . she might just use her biotic powers to grab the branch or tree the cat is on / in and flex it down as far as it would go. . . then release, thus inventing a new cat-a-pult.  :o    MEEEEEOOOUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuu............

Course luckly Lynn is rarely in one of those dark moods. . . and the first paragraph is most likely the way she would go.

*ponders* Course it would ever leave me wondering how many renegade points she would rack up for the launch?

Because you interpreted the request to mean getting the kitten out of the tree alive? Paragon! ;)

(Mine would do also try to get the kitten out alive, though might end up getting stuck in the tree herself.)

After reading the above post. . . lol

Lynn might have a 3rd option. . . perhaps a somewhat 'grey' option. . . Ducktape and the barrel of the Hammerhead just might work. . . The real question is dose anyone think she can convince Garrus to allow himself to be taped to the barrel?

Especially since her driving practices have resulted in Garrus and others screaming for seat belts, slow down, barf bags, or avoid this or that object?

Uh, Lili likes cats, she really does. So she'd be nice...unless she was having a horrible day. In that case, she'd either shoot it down of use biotics to lift it out of the tree and onto the ground.

When I was @ boot camp we had to keep hair short and I didn't really had the time to look ladies hair cuts (I actually remember only one where I was, and she was corporal). However these for example are allowed (at least for women):

According to the official blaah blaah the hair has to stay away and you have to tie the hair away. That would mean "classy" might be border line. One would think that they have some kind of Omni Hair Gel ® ™ that would allow longer hair to stay away in the future...
