This is a total noob question, but how do go about getting screencaps from a 360?

I used my digi camera. It's a decent camera so it's hard to tell (apart from small lines). You can also hook your xbox up to your PC with a capture card. But I found it to be more trouble than it's worth so I'm sticking with the camera.

Thanks, I'll try the camera and see how well it turns out.

If I may rant for a moment...

[rant]
Urrrgggghhhhhh... It is very frustrating trying to exactly recreate a face in Mass Effect 1. I have my main femShep Artemis (follow the link in my sig. for ME2 shots of her), whom I have carried through from ME1. Now I want to make a new femShep, a vanguard this time, and I'll call her Athene.

Difficulty is, I've tried making a different looking femShep in the past, and then I have a hard time playing the game, because I'm so used to hearing Jennifer Hale's voice coming from Artemis that it's really weird to hear the same voice on a different face. So, my intent is to recreate Artemis's face, noting all of the settings, and just making clones of her for the different classes (all named for Greek mythological figures, i'm sure).

And it is really hard to get it just right. So much trial and error. I don't know how many times I've watched the opening cutscene. Grrrrrr...

I really wish we could just copypasta out of the save file or something (is this a possibility? All my googling turned up no easy way of recreating ShepFaces in ME1).
[/rant]

And now back to your regularly scheduled FemShep Thread. ;)

Do you have the ME2 Code? Use this: http://kenerd.com/se...e1/me2tome1.php

Hmmm... Does ME2 generate a specific code for an imported ME1 save? For some reason I'd heard that it didn't, and the code that appears on your squad screen is just the generic default code, so I never tried it. Can anyone confirm?

Ok. I just got my facecode from ME2 and plugged it into that, and the values look really close to a lot of the values I wrote down last time when trying to eyeball it, so perhaps it is the exact fit. Off to start up ME1 and see if it makes a match.

Thanks for the heads up on that, especially if this works. B)

[edit]
It seems to have given a strange value for the brow color, but that's eays to eyeball. At first glance, things look right. Time to run through the cutscene again and grab a screen shot that I know I already have of Artemis for the comparison. Hopefully it'll be a match. :)

[edit the 2nd]
SUCCESS! Thanks a million. It worked perfectly. :D

Ah, yes. One of those things I tend to always do.

I'm one of those Paragonish types. Can't do some of the options available in the game. Of course, I also tend to screw over that asari who wants you to distract a corporate executive so her device can hack his wireless network. +9 Renegade points definitely worth it.

A while back there was an article on why people like FemShep. The author's reason was that she does the exact same things (including poses) that DudeShep does, which I guess is supposed to mean she's like one of the guys.

(Caption: don't make me rip your arms off, Aria.)

I don't know if that's my reason, but I definitely like her ability to mouth off, especially some lines I believe are unique to her ("I bet mine's bigger", "Call me Princess again...", "Are you naturally this b----y?", etc.)

Krogan head-butt.

Hostage: AAAH! My arm!

"You talk too much."
"You're working too hard."

I tend to have enough Paragon points to use the "I unleashed the rachni" line. Plus Vasir getting a faceful of table is always fun to watch.

I'm tending to just use the Renegade option on Conrad Verner in ME1 because the Paragon one is broken. Though I guess Conrad could've fantasized that Paragon Shep pointed her gun in his face.

ME2 really is horrible for neutral or paragade players on these checks.  Something overlooked by Bioware and they still say "it works as intended".  Lol.

I moaned about this before. But my Laura Shep below with the full paragon bar still cant complete any of the hard speech checks on paragon (and of course renegade).  Thats with the +100% bonuses too.  So no Jack or Zaeed loyality for example. Or no awesome LotSB speech.  :(

Can I assume you aren't importing from an ME1 save? I only ask because I've never had any problem getting all of the paragon speech options, as well as a few of the renegade ones (though with that, it helps to exploit the bug on Noveria to stack up your renegade points as well to get the bigger import bonus).

Anyway, at this stage, it might be worth it to use Gibbed to alter your points so you can get the conversation options you want.

Or no awesome LotSB speech.  :(

??? Which LotSB speech? I'm wondering if I missed something or if I just didn't realize I was using an option? The only place I can think of is during the hostage situation. Is that what you are referring to? (if so, I've sadly never had enough renegade to hear the renegade option speech there)

All that said, about what I was doing above, oddly the translator from ME2 face code to ME1 sliders chose the wrong nose, but otherwise it worked perfectly. Athene Shepard, vanguard, is now up and running, and for all intents and purposes is physically identical to Artemis from earlier games . After I get Athene up to speed, I'm going to redo Artemis (or perhaps go with Atalanta) using the same face but with brown eyes. That way Athene gets the grey/blue eyes that match the Greek goddess's description, and my huntress/infiltrator will have a darker, more deadly look. Probably go with a different scar on her to differentiate their looks a little more in ME1 (without going into voice-not-matching-face shock), even though it won't matter in ME2.

Fun stuff. Nice to be trying a different class at last. B)

I didn't notice...what LotSB speech?

Also I'm a paragon as well, but I usually pick a few renegade choices here and there like the one on Omega Merc recruitment, when the batarian dude says Shep's a stripper, and "You work too much."

Also pushing the merc dude through the glass window on Samara's mission, and killing Elinora that Asari Byaaaatch.

So yeah...

I never did have trouble with Zaeed's mission tho...I mean I gain his loyalty using the paragon option...how can Laura have full paragon and not be able to do it?

That scene has some weird "persuasion" checks. I remember getting there with Renegonish Shep. Full red bar, half blue bar. But both blue and red options were greyed out. Shoot the hostage it was...

me too. while the flashing paragon icon makes me snap to attention, i tend to be really leery of the renegade interrupts. after a few times of "oh my GOD" i just didn't try them anymore. exploding heads in battle i sort of gloss over. stabbings in the back following a polite conversation? just couldn't get into that.

it also just didn't fit kyrie's icy b*tch theme. i could see her coldly threatening a merc, but many of the renegade interrupts seemed to impulsive for such a deliberate, careful adept as her. i tend to choose renegade and neutral lines for her, but decisions almost always roll strictly paragon. the only exceptions to that are ones where being a paragon would clearly break some well-established and reasonable rules (like don't let mercs run away from crime scenes). there, she lays down the law.

i'm really curious about Arrival and paragon/renegade choices there. will the alliance have Shep back? on what terms? as pro-alliance as kyrie was, will she want to go back? <--a lot of this hinges on who (kaidan/ashley, cough, cough) shows up.

Yep its the hostage speech.  Its only a few lines but its awesome.  But the check for it is crazy high and as jwalker just said its quite often greyed out unless your playing a full paragon or renegade character.

Oh and yes she was an ME1 import which was a mixed allignment.   Unfortunatley im on the 360 so I cant use the gibbed editor.   Its an inconvienance and I really hope there isnt a similar situation on Arrival.

Well, this is just my own personal opinion and I know others disagree, but I don't see FemShep as "one of the guys." This might be the result of growing up in a very open and also mixed gender environment, I don't know. Back in school my group of friends was always an equal mixture of both. To me she is assertive (which can be seen as a masculine trait by some) but I never thought while I was playing that she was acting "like a man." Perhaps that says something about me?

Back on point, the fact that FemShep has almost the exact same lines as MaleShep is great because unlike many other female characters, she's not written as a stereotypical woman, she's written as just a person. Being female is not her defining characteristic, being Shepard is. It makes her relateable and not just a token female. Whether this was the intention of the writers or just dumb luck that gave us a female protagonist in the vein of Ripley and Sarah Connor, it works.

Not to discount the differences between the genders, which there are many, or to make too fine a point of it but: FemShep may hold her own among the boys, but she is all woman to me.

FemShep sitting/walking like ManShep is a whole 'nother story--just an example of the devs cutting corners by using the same animations for both genders.

Something great is that Shepard has the same lines regardless of sex, but other people have different lines, like Harkin or that Turian in the Vip part of Afterlife or al-Jilani when you punch her. It adds a lot of realism. It's like the NPCs know they are talking to Manshep or to Femshep, not to GenericLeadingCharacterTemplate.

Kicking that merc out the window during Thane's recruitment, ahooting that merc during Samara's recruitment and shooting that fuel tank under that Kroigan during Mordins loyalty mission are all musts for even my paragon Sheps.  I  didn't shoot the hostage but otherwise I'm usually all about the renegade interupt when it comes to those I know I'm going to fight.  With my crew/squad or those I'm helping I'm generally paragon all the way.  With my 5 paragon play throughs I got a maxed out paragon bar but my renegade bar is filled up maybe a quarter or so due to all the renegade interupts.
