One little tidbit I did like was that the Reaper *acts* like a Reaper, meaning Sovereign and rightly views Shepard as an annoyance, the same way one would a roach that defied pest-control. But at the end I was left with a feeling that, if this had been given proper development and writer-resources, the Arrival theme would have made for a much better Mass Effect 2 than the whole Collector side-trip.

Most likely.

"So let me get this straight Admiral. You call in a favor to rescue your buddy, almost get me killed riding a goddamn asteroid into a relay supernova, and then you have the gall to show up on my ship, a Cerberus frigate, and give me crap? The dialogue wheel won't let me say this, but go to hell. And take your poorly written railroading with you."

*ARRIVAL SPOILERS*

Ok so Arrival then.   I was left feeling fustrated. Not because of any bugs or bad plotlines but because I felt Amelia had a personality transplant throughout the whole thing.  She wasnt my paragon hero. I had no idea who I was playing.  The lack of any emotional attachment this DLC has really fustrated me!! Amelia would never act like what the DLC forced upon me.

My problem was how cold the dialogue was about it throughout. "we must reactivate the project" nothing else matters blah blah ect ect.  She showed absolutely no emotion to the fact 300,000 people have died or were about too.  Thats not the Amelia Shepard I remember creating or how she would have reacted to the situation.  Of course this isnt Jen Hale but the fact the dialogue was so unfitting towards everything going on. None of it reflected my paragon nature. The big choice in the DLC was warning the colony. At last, eventually Amelia does what I wanted her to say/do. A decision that I expected to be earlier and give a choice to a linear plot.  Took most the DLC to get to a point where I can show a little virtue. But everyone was said to have died anyway. I know Bioware were trying to make it epic but it just fell flat. There wasnt a single paragon interrupt or way to convey an emotion of regret or remorse. Even at the end debrief I felt it was just shrugged off and being tried in a court was an even bigger worry.

Now I should point out I have no problem with the Ultimate Sacrifice.  A few people seem to think this is my concern but its not.  Amelia would recognise that this is for the greater good.  However ME & ME2 have created numerous emotional responces to a single issue or person. Here we have 300,000 people and all the reactions in the DLC are cold or just plainly ignored.  Its like Amelia is treating them as a statistic.  What happend to the Amelia Shepard at the Battle of the Citadel who sacrificed Alliance ships for the greater good?  She didnt exist in this DLC as the dialogue and script attempts to shrug off any questioning completly to fulfill its predictable and linear nature.   The single ending line where she feels bad is "If I could of saved them I would have" then seconds later its overshadowed by discussion of a trial.  I dont care about that, but the DLC makes a big deal of it probably to present the start of ME3.  Im more concerned that almost a third of a million people have died as a result of my actions. This is the paragon which has been created in past games and DLC im not making up some new character.

I find it is unbelievable that its been addressed so poorly in my eyes!     Other missions have set a norm for emotional attachment and reactions you expect as a paragon. They simply didnt exist in this DLC. Of course the DLC didnt have the production values of Lair of the Shadow Broker. But its like they didnt even try with the dialogue at times.  The Doctor didnt sound enthralling either.   Even if the budget was small a much better job could have been done.

Detached, fustrated, playing a character who wasnt Amelia but looked like her.   What was this DLC?

got Arrival installed, hacks back in place, chatted with Liara and fed the fish. ready for more action

btw, i LOVE chatting with liara. having kyrie whine just a little about life (sometimes it feels like the whole galaxy is against me) just seems so real. i also love that liara's wearing this shiny new gown and kyrie is in her cargo pants and Tshirt, as usual. so fitting.

The lack of emotional connection to the DLC created this reaction from Sarah.. But otherwise i'm pretty satisfied with the DLC.. could have been much better but also much worse. Atleast we got to meet Hackett in person.

My femshep was excited to be able to Charge straight into enemies faces again and blow their **** up, but was disappointed with the lack of dialogue and character development.

I remember reading how renegade players felt they were pushed to play paragon during Lair of the Shadow Broker. I don't feel like I was pushed to play renegade in Arrival, but I feel like I was pushed to play some version of Shepard that wasn't my own. When Hackett first calls Shepard and says the Reapers are involved, Shepard's reaction is to lean back and essentially go "Yeah. So?"

Oh, but the Illusive Man tells you he has a feeling the Reapers are behind the Collector threat, doesn't even show you proof on how he knows that, and suddenly Shepard was all "Get me a team! Give me a ship! I'm on it!"

What. The. ...

I've never actually shouted at my computer...seriously. But I saw this coming from a mile away and spent the remaining hour screaming, "I'm gonna shoot you so hard ****!"

Why is everyone in Mass Effect universe so stupid? One, for trusting Reaper tech. Two, for going up against Shepard, EVER. I did enjoy the background chatter "Shepard won't go down" or something like that.

This, this and THIS. It's just made so painfully obvious by how you're also walked through the Project level on the way in, plenty of time to see all those guards. And maybe I'm not remembering it right, but didn't we report the whole "machine cultist" thing in ME1, where people find what turns out to be Reaper artifacts and then impale themselves on Dragon's Teeth? It's not like there's no prior records of indoctrination, especially not if you're higher-echelon Alliance covert ops.

And more railroading - you notice how Hackett suddenly doesn't seem to have *as much* of a problem with Cerberus now? Blech!

At least we got rid of Harbinger's Saturday morning cartoon-villain dialogue, though.

It just hurts so much sometimes doesnt it Paci how dialogue just takes a direction that is so not inline with the usual decisions you make.  It breaks immersion more then any plothole can.  After playing a game for 100 hours you think you know your Shepard. Then poor scripting of a few lines just destroys it

:(
