really the reapers don't need the alpha relay. They can jsut get to the nearest mass relay and theyr'e set. I guess that'show they end up at earth since. They still arrived in the Viper Nebula, but now they're just moving at FTL speeds, I guess towards the local cluster.

Harbinger: ...TIME FOR PLAN C.

I'd say this was already Plan C. Or even D.

They tried to activate the Keepers. They failed.
They tried to open the Citadel relay with Saren and Sovereign. They failed.
They tried to build a human reaper. What for? Maybe to try to open the Citadel relay again. They failed.

So, i'd say the Alpha Relay, which is really on the outskirts of the galaxy, was just some kind of emergency plan for them.

I read too much Schlock.

"...and now Harbinger finds itself faced with several years of 'winging it.'"

Anyone else thinks Shepard made humans an even higher priority target by speaking with Harbinger? Not only is Shep annoying them, she says that humans will fight whatever might come. And so far they were quite successful doing that. This is the first time the Reapers couldn't easily activate the Citadel relay to start what they always do.

...and most of humanity is still on Earth. Oops.

Don't feel so bad. It took me forever to find the bathroom in the Captain's Quarters too.

Edit: and I messed up the quotations too. Yay...

Well it has been a while since I posted a new installment to my "FemShep Noir" series, so I guess it high time a did.

I was really hoping to get more then one done tonight, but my night quickly went to heck so I wasn't able to do more. The one I did do however, I was one that I have been playing with for a long time and FINALY found a great base image for....

They sure don't need the Alpha relay, it's likely the one closest to dark space. It's clear we just delayed the invasion. Another throwback for them.

The question is: For how long exactly? Basically from now on the galaxy would have to prepare for the reapers. That is if they believe in such things as Reapers. ^_^

As long as it takes to get to ME3. Then all the FemSheps who want to can go save the sniper stuck in Big Ben as quickly as possible.

I haven't played Arrival, but I've read up on it....

Good god... my already tramuatized, dazed and confused Shep, Charlie is going to be one messed up woman...

Reapers.... coming.... and now an entire system with thousands of dead... batarians no less... on her shoulders...for the rest of her life...

This when she pulls a hard to port, grabs an insane ammount of ice brandy and banks for Liara's base.....

I'm wondering if this really leads to a trial at the beginning of ME3. That's what many seem to assume.

Imagine the VS also being there as a witness or visitor and then suddenly during it the Reapers come out of the skies. :o

So, yeah, just finished Arrival, and the only thing I could say at the end of it was...

"That's it?"

Talk about underwhelming. I paid the same price as Overlord for maybe a  third of the content (if I'm feeling generous) and an ending that, rather than being wrenchingly emotional, consists of Hackett walking out of the medbay with Shepard staring after him.

Wow. Seriously?

And I know I didn't imagine it, but wasn't there a section that had a loading screen to enter and exit each end of a single hallway? What the heck?  I also got a wierd bug after controlling the security mech and recovering my guns where my zooming through my sniper scope would not intiate bullet time.  Made sniping those fast-moving targets rather... interesting.

The only good part was hearing Hale give Jessica some newly voiced lines. But way too many of them were her talking to herself.

It wasn't horrible.  The solo combat was interesting and at times extremely challenging (it took many attempts to get the achievement for surviving all five waves with my Infiltrator, curse that class' total absence of crowd control), but that by itself isn't enough to justify the cost, and the rest of the content and dialogue is less than any single loyalty mission in the vanilla game.  This was a $5.00 DLC, not a $7.00 one.

Just... color me unimpressed.

(and I still don't believe an asteroid is going to destroy a relay when a supernova won't...)

What makes Arrival more disappointing is the fact that it is the last DLC before the final game. You kind of expect it to end with enough oomph to get you pumped for the the sequel later this year. I felt the opposite. I was also a bit put off by some of the voice acting, even Hale sounded strange and wooden in certain parts.

(Also found that Devi didn't look herself in most of the cutscenes. Maybe Arrival just had awkward lighting that's a tad reminiscent of Tuchanka. Did anyone else feel the same when looking for good screenshots?)

I noticed that when i sorted out my screenshots.. Sarah looked different in some of them. It's most likely affected by the lightning.

Finished Arrival yesterday. I enjoyed it, it got the adrenaline pumping but I think Jen would have a hard time dealing with the 'decision'. She keeps reminding herself that Terra Nova would have see MILLIONS lost for no good reason other than hatred of humans and it makes it slightly more bearable. That and best bud Miranda would probably check on her eventually, not that Shepard would admit to much, she too cries in private (or only in font of Kaidan). Still she needs to see the mission through to the end now, proper dwelling can come later and i could see her retiring; she won't sit behind a desk but staying a soldier in a time of peace would feel wrong to her.

I'll be happy for her to stand a trial in ME3 in her dress blues, especially if it is interrupted by the reapers.

I liked the rain and I have some cool screencaps but I'm at college at the moment...check out my productive film studies lesson; I shouldn't finish coursework so bloomin' early!

I'm thinking people here had way, way, WAY too high expectations of this DLC. Yes, it was short and the dialogue was seriously lacking in weight in some areas. Otherwise the story was all good and quite epic actually. The betrayal was obvious, but hey, that's what you get for messing around Reaper artifacts. The combat sections were very well designed and were actually challenging at times. I think gameplay wise this mission was by far the most fun.

Anyway catching up over the last two and half pages Im glad a few of you have spoken up with the emotional detachment of the DLC.   The renegades wernt happy with the paragon nature of LotSB and the paragons clearly arnt happy with Arrival.  Shows that Bioware still really needs to work on balance because it is vital to the gameplay experience.

I´m also a great Fan of Femshepard, and that´s why i won´t see any Film bout Mass Effect, cause Bioware will deny her Existence again, like in every Marketingfilm ever.

Okay, maybe I was a bit harsh with my post last night, after playing through for a second time. It's not a horrible piece of DLC, but it's no where near as good as LotSB or Overlord.

I think the debrief with Hackett is what kills it for me. Shepard may as well be a cardboard cut out for all the emotion she gets to show after being forced to wipe out an entire star system and over 3000,000 lives.

Then there's the whole; "You better show up to explain yourself." bit. So my character has to go crawling back to the people who ignored and abandoned her and explain why she did what she did? Because I'm sure they'll believe her! First you get railroaded in to working with Cerberus and now it seems it's all aboard the Mass Effect Express again, next stop Alliance HQ!

Also Mass Relays are suddenly destructible? So the shockwave and force of a star going supernova gives the Mu Relay a push, yet a rock with a few firecrackers attached to it can obliterate one? Yes I'm over simplifying, but it still seems ridiculous and yet another case of changing established lore to suit the story.

Gameplay wise it was decent enough, but the lack of any real space was a bit of a let down. The whole thing was far too cramped and corridor, room, corridor, with very little in the way of open areas that you could manoeuver about in. Playing solo was interesting, but the game loses most of it's stratagy when you don't have any squad mates with you to mix things up and give the AI another target to deal with.

Anyway enough rambling and complaining from me. It was a decent enough DLC, but as the last piece of the story before ME3, it was disappointing.

Better to die in one big blast than to be indoctrinated by the Reapers. Reapers would have annihilated them anyway. There just wasn't enough time to do anything else. Putting emotions and cry scenes in that would have been really, really weird. Shep did pretty much what I would have done. In situation like that you don't think, you just do something and pick the best option available.

Image IPB

By the way, did I miss something or does this now mean that the Reapers actually reached the relay right before it got destroyed? So the rest only have a little bit more time before the Reapers reach another relay? Also, how come that the blast didn't take some Reapers out if they were so close?
