Thanks for the info, Sinapus. Infodumps can be annoying, yes, but if they're relatively infrequent...

In any case, he's a reader and writer more than an artist and visual media person. Films are great, but books are better (especially if they both cover the same material). Goodwood will let you know if/when he's read the first two novels and what he thinks.

Oh crap, top-of-page FemShep required!

For me it makes perfect sense the Reapers would have contingency plans if the invasion through the Citadel Relay failed. And the Alpha Relay isn't really comparable to that. The Citadel Relay links directly to dark space (and I believe, like primary relays, nowhere else) and can be used to lock out the entire relay network for Reaper use only. The Reapers could have invaded the entire galaxy at once with the Alpha Relay, but still it's not as effective as cutting of the entire galactic civilization from each other.

I would consider it lots more stupid if the Reapers didn't already have other options in place for their recurring galactic extermination plans.

I'd be fine if they had a REAL Citadel Mk. II hidden somewhere else in the galaxy, the Citadel is nothing but a gigantic Primary relay that has a link point a really really long way away, but the Alpha relay is a retcon because it behaves in a way that no other relay anywhere can behave, and specifically defies the explanation of the way mass relays work that we see in the Codex. Primary relays link to one other Primary relay and nowhere else, and distance is no object. Secondary relays can link to any other relay (even a Primary) in a radius, but that radius is relatively short. Never are we given any indication that this is not a hard and fast rule. Now suddenly this Alpha relay can do both at once.

Chekhov's Gun was hauled out of storage and hung on the wall still wrapped in bubble-plastic for this one. I call shenanigans.

Harbinger: "Bad news folks, we can't activate the Citadel. Invasion's been cancelled."

Reapers: :crying:

Harbinger: "Told you we should have a Plan B. But no, you said it's gonna be fine. We don't need that. We're the Reapers, we're unstoppable. Now tell that to Sovereign. I bet that were his last words."

I think the reapers are coming in with FTL, so they would use the Alpha relay, which is on the outskirts of the galaxy, to spread out.

Why is that a retcon?

Goodwood also wishes to remind Sable that the Codex is written from an in-universe perspective.

"I will not include a self-destruct mechanism unless absolutely necessary. If it is necessary, it will not be a large red button labelled "Danger: Do Not Push". The big red button marked "Do Not Push" will instead trigger a spray of bullets on anyone stupid enough to disregard it. Similarly, the ON/OFF switch will not clearly be labelled as such."

Oh noes!  It's a TARP!

@Sable:
So, basically anything new brought to the series is retconned and stupid? Perhaps it's a bit silly that it's indistinguishable from the other relays, but other than I don't see much problems. Also, isn't the galactic codex basically written from the Mass Effect galactic communitys perspective? Though the races in Mass Effect know a thing or two about them and can use them, only the Reapers have a true understanding of the technology.

If I may interrupt for a moment, I want to point out that the Alpha Relay (whether it was fabulous writing, asspull writing, or retcon aside), is not FemShep.

This is (a) FemShep.

This is not FemShep.

Just so we don't meander too far off topic, here.  :o

Just wanted to say that I like fem shep and consider the voice acting to be far superior to da2 fem hawke voice acting. I think I finished two third of my games as fem shep, I just prefer looking at female backs for 40 hours than male backs.

Got some great images of Lia Shepard last night while trying a WIP texture to make the hair texture higher resolution and less greasy. I'm very pleased with the result, though it does need refinement.

For me only noticable bug was, one time sound dissapeared with big pop (like power is cut to the speakers). i thought that my sound system is a goner... :crying: restarted game and all was ok. phew

It's quite buggy.  The Witch Hunt
comparisons are apt at least in that respect.  Not only did I crash
twice, but my sniper zoom time dilation vanished after controlling the
security mech, something a lot of people seem to be experiencing.

Oh boy... i'm on second playthrough with Alix (Infiltrator) and still haven't used sniper rifle. Will see how it turns out, i guess....

OooOOh, this will be awesome if it gets rid of the new ropey-dreadlock look that hairstyle has.

I actually made a similar attempt myself, but failed, got bored, and forgot about it.

Do you plan on posting it when it's finished?
