but all things considered, femshep is my favorite VG character ever, and i can't imagine shepard being other than female.

That's exactly the same for me.

I've played manshep a couple of times. My first playthrough of Mass Effect was using the default male soldier, Who I also took through ME2 as a sentinal for my first Insanity run. I don't dislike the male version of Shepard, I'm just so used to Shepard being female, and hearing Jen Hale's voice for the dialogue, that anything different seems odd. Infact the last time I tried to do a playthrough with a male Shepard, I got to the Citadel and just stopped playing.

I have nothing against manshep or those that play using him. It's their game, and they can play it as they want. But for me, I can't see myself playing the games with a male Shepard again. The character of Shepard is a female in my head and always will be.

^^I have very similar situation. I like Meer's voice but the fact that the default Shep is not custom Shep (not that there's anything wrong with the default) and I can only seem to make pre-human males, I found myself playing femShep more. I've become attached to that character. It's like she's the Shepard.

It's funny, in KOTOR I managed just barely finish femRaven playthrough since for me Revan is male. In Mass Effect it's pretty much the opposite.

Heh... my list of examples wasn't meant to be definitive... Just the first ones I came up with off the top of my head. That said, I also prefer the female Jaden Korr in Jedi Academy. :)

I, for some reason, find Hales voice not as good as the male voice in that game. I can't really pinpoint why but I don't think that it was the best performance ever. Not even close, quite the opposite. I did only one female Jaden playthrough and gazillion male Jaden playthroughs and that was one reason. I think that she over acted some parts pretty badly. I also played Freelancer at that time and that was head and shoulders above JK:A when it comes to Hales acting.

I agree, it's not nearly as great as most of her other work, but I didn't find it particularly bad either. Though the male voice acting is much better, I kinda prefer to play as a Twi'lek female. There's just something about blue aliens...

Marge agrees.

Also I'm not talking about MaleShep voice. I don't play males, never will until game force me cuz of lack of option, so I don't have an opinion.
I feel very detached from male characters, they basically ruin half of the game experience for me (unless I know him very well, like Geralt, whom I know from the books, or I know nothing about him at all, and can build some traits by myself during the game progress - like Ashley Riot in Vagrant Story). You may say I'm tired of male leads in games. Strong women are my idols, as I'd like to be one.

You know, it's been so long since I've played it that I didn't even realize it was her voice. I haven't really been one to follow voice actor/actress names and know who is who. I don't even really recall the voice acting in Jedi Academy, beyond the usuals (Kyle, Luke, Lando) so I don't really recall whether or not I had any problems with femJaden's voice. I just felt, at the time, that a female character was a more compelling story (I usually went with a female ... whatever alien it is that's the same as the dancers in Jaba's Palace in RotJ).

[edit]
Noting Influ's post, is the alien I'm thinking of a Twi'lek? I love the Star Wars universe, but I don't know all of the alien names.

Does it suit her?

I think so.

I think so. Those aliens with the two tendrils on their heads are Twi'leks.

There's only one problem with the old armour. There's no suitable helmet for that. I can run around with the correct breather and visor but that isn't quite good enough. The new helmet causes some clipping issues (and textures don't quite match) and I'm a perfectionists so I've always ditched that plan to use old Onyx armour. :(

I love the old school armor, it's my armor of choice on Kate and I'd love to see it back again for ME3.

Hmmm...

*note to self: make sure you hack medium onyx armor before your next ME2 play through*

It does, indeed, look good. B)

(edit: referring to the armor portrayed in Influ's shots above; the heavy also looks nice, but not really my style)

[edit, the 2nd]
Even shifty looking cow digs Onyx medium. :D

Ah, excellent. Because my plan to stop the Reapers and get rich while doing it involved cloning shifty eyed cow, and that will save me the trouble. Excellent. It's always nice when a plan comes together.

Not very surprising, but Seth Green confirmed he's back in ME3 as Shep's favorite pilot. :wizard:

Somehow I'm not surprised at all. :D

By the way, is there a way to get heavy armour for adepts in ME1?

IIRC, GiveItem command equips the items automatically so you could use that. For example "GiveItem self 10 HumanH manf_kassa_armor_colossus" would equip shep with a Heavy Colossus X armor.

I'm not seeing it. On that note, a femshep that looks like Amanda Tapping would be awesum.
