YMIR for squadmate in ME3?

Samantha Carter?

Okay, time to sleep.

I'm not seeing it. On that note, a femshep that looks like Amanda Tapping would be awesum.

It feels like her face should be doable with the character creator, actually.

Many thanks to adneate whose tips finally let me figure out how to use ELE's texmods with Steam.

So I just thought I'd show ME1 Lia - still a Sentinel ^_^

Edit: Lol - freaked out Zaeed is awesome. As is cyborg-zombie Shep...can't believe that's all they did with her being cybernetic now, though <_<

I may or may not have just skipped my classes to read sagequeen's fic. ...Well, okay, I skipped class because I'm sick as a dog, but being pleasantly distracted was a great side benefit!

I come bearing only a meager sketch - I keep trying to draw Delia Shepard and she refuses to cooperate (or more likely I'm sincerely off my game). But I at least worked out her tattoos a little more...

Image IPB

Any critique is always welcome - I haven't quite figured out if 'semper fi' is a motto that Shepard would adopt within this universe... but in my mind, as a final reclaiming of her body back from Cerberus after ME2, she would go get at least a commemorative arm tattoo of the Omega 4 relay. On her back is a larger design of the SSV Normandy along with 3 playing cards - the Joker (self-explanatory), Ace of Hearts (for Garrus >>), and Five of Spades (symbolizing sacrifice, a tough decision, or a turning point). No tramp stamp. ...Yet. lol.

But to make this less of a boring hey-look-at-me post, might as well turn it into a question: does your FemShep have any tattoos? What are their significance to her? How'd she get them?

Femshep doesn't have time to pose for your drawing, she's too busy saving the universe.

I've never even thought about tattoos. So I guess Myddine doesn't have any. But now I'm thinking about retconning in some gang tattoos or something from her pre-Alliance days.

I like the tattoo designs you've got there. Dunno if Semper-fi is appropriate to her special forces background though.

Well, she does lift a multiton I-Beam in a cinematic after the suicide mission

that looks awesome, but wouldn't if be freaky if Miranda knew about the Tattoo's and put them on Femshep despite, as ELE put it in her fanfic about carolines, the fact that there's never been pics of topless femshep? Image IPB

Glad you like her.

To be honest, after my first Femshep, it gets harder to create a completely different Shepard. It took me almost a whole afternoon to get Velina out of drafts, this is the 10th verison I believe.

I don't see any of my FemSheps having tattoos, except possibly Mac. She may have had something she got pre-alliance while running with the Reds. Moira is an Earthborn, as well, but she's incredibly vain. She was more than happy to fork over the platinum for the machine to fix her scars (she would look horrendous otherwise).

I could see Holly getting a tattoo later on, maybe. Something to remember Thane by.

Hrist has/had a small 'J', (for James) tattooed on the inside of her right forearm. They met when she was eleven years old and she tried to steal a chocolate bar from his pocket. He cought her in the act and grabbed her arm to stop her getting away. Hence the location of the tattoo. Instead of hitting her though he simple gave her the chocolate bar and from then on they were inseparable.

Even though they weren't related she did and still does consider him her brother. She was devestated when he was killed a few years after they met, but She couldn't afford to get him a grave stone at the time, so she had a 'J' tattooed on her arm in his memory.

RE: Tats?  Sam wouldn't have any.  She watched one two many documentaries on it during her teenage years and has sworn off needles ever since.  The tattoos all the N7 graduates were getting?  She got a temporary one and avoids the topic.  After the Omega 4 relay, though?  She may reconsider.  That was a milestone.

As for Kat, I'm sure she used to have some from her time with the Reds.  She wouldn't trust me with that knowledge though.

No Tat's for Kallen. Like Aislinn's Moira she's kinda vain and think's she looks damn fine without them. That same vanity is the reason she cut her hair for the cyberbabe cut and despite her high threshold for pain, she hates it outside of battle so no needles for her.Image IPB

Getting that particular f-word from you about Shepard creation is like a badge of honor

Edit: Lia wouldn't have any tattoos. At least not anymore. She had one before Akuze - she and her best friends in the squad had gotten inked together during shoreleave, but after the thresher attack, it was too much of a bad memory, and the Alliance psychiatric evaluators "encouraged" her to get rid of it. So she did, even though you'll still find her running a hand over the scar at times.

Jenny's a spacer, and her mom would probably look at her all disapprovingly if she mentioned getting a tat (while surreptitiously rubbing her arm...She never wears anything sleeveless...

Sorry for my long post, but I couldn’t help chiming in!  *And sorry for thepost edit! -  was a weird format for a mo' there*

After hearing a bit about the Arrival DLC, I’m a bit worried about my femshep, since I know she isn’t going to take this well...

Given her backstory of leading the mission on Torfan, only to have some Elysium born soldiers lead by an officer who was a Skyllium Blitz  veteran and Cerberus sympathizer orchestrate a massacre of the surrendered Batarians, she's got a 'thing' about massacres.  It chaffed her in the aftermath that the human media made the murder of the renegade officer with a point blank warp to the face when he proudly declared that justice had been done seem a greater crime than the murder of injured and unarmed prisoners.

In a political move, the Navy courts ended up ruling in favor of it being a temporary biotic malfunction during a high stress mutiny situation, but that didn’t stop both alien and human conspiracy theorists from speculating that the officer was murdered in cold blood to take the blame and cover up 'The Butcher's' war crimes. After all, dead men (without a Cerberus budget) tell no tales.

(Yes, I cribbed SHAMELESSLY from the AraL “Butcher of Komarr” Vorkosigan’s backstory from Lois McMaster Bujold’s book Cordelia’s Honor  [which I highly recommend for people who like to read about strong female characters, in space or otherwise!]  I had to figure out how my PARAgade (with a  capital PARA) came to be known as the butcher of Torfan, and given my Sheps’ response to Miranda when she brought it up, it
seemed to fit the character too well!)

If she thought being the butcher of TORFAN was bad enough…. Chakwas better break out the Ice brandy, I anticipate a lot more drinking for Jenny in Mass Effect 3!

These pictures brought to mind something that continually puzzles me about the character and the writing of femShep (and Liara as well), and that is the sheer number of femShep players that have their Shepard romance Liara. I would even place bets on the odds that a majority of femShep romances are Liara. What I find so intriguing about this is that it seems to be the case no matter the sex or orientation of the player; it’s the favored pairing for lesbians for obvious reasons, but it seems to be nearly as popular among straight female and male gamers.

I’ve asked it before but it was a looong time ago, so I’ll ask it again for people who are recently come to the thread. Why is your particular femShep fit so well with Liara, and additionally, why do you think so many other femSheps end up with her? What is it about femShep and Liara that “clicks” with so many people, regardless of their gender or orientation in real life? I can’t deny that it’s a fantastic pairing (my own Jessica is yet another LIaramancing femShep, after all), but why is it so fantastic? What is it that makes the Liara/femShep pairing so special?

I still haven't romanced Liara, but after playing a second time, I can see its appeal. The first time I didn't was because I don't like falling for obvious fanservice. s a female gamer, its not usually geared at me, and the fact that the romance just seemed so easy to 'turn on' made it not seem real (I hadn't been very nice to her first play through, and she still came on to me..)

However, once I looked at her more closely, I could see the appeal more. She's cute and sweet, and definitely has a crush on you, or is at least in awe of you. She's not the 'fan service' that I thought she was, and her voice actress gave her a real feeling of authenticity. Being useful in a team doesn't hurt either, and she was part of my Seren killing team first play through too, which helped warm me to her in the future.

Can i explain? I don't know. Just seems to fit perfectly in my mind. I like her character, her behavior, her nature and she just cares so much more for Shepard on a personal level than any other character (imo). In that regard, many other romance options just seem not that much interesting to me. And she is like some kind of anchor, she keeps my Shep from drifting away in all this crap while she's carrying the fate of the galaxy on her shoulders.

Tali goes in that direction in ME2, too. At least for me, i liked and appreciated her much more in ME2.

@ Harpalyce - Cool pic. What medium did you do that in?

@ Delerius_Jedi - Lia is very adorable. Very cool.

@ Sage - I've read some of your fic and it is wonderful, but I will get to Valhalla eventually.

Tattoos: I'd imagine UJ would have gotten a tattoo when she was a teenager on Mindoir. It would have been clearly viable and totally inappropriate, however. I imagine she had it removed after entering the Alliance.

I haven't played ME1 yet (though just going through LotSB, I can start to see it). But here goes -

If you want to put on your feminist literary analysis hat, I can see that in this romance, FemShep gets to stay in an accepted gender role as 'butch masculine lesbian'. After doing all of these "butch" things like, oh, stomping around saving the universe, some players are probably used to seeing her in that masculine role. So it's more comfortable for her to be 'the man' in a relationship (with Liara) instead of trying to reconcile her as feminine in a traditional relationship, as she isn't about to go to the kitchen and make any sandwiches any time soon*.

*or if she does, in my FemShep's case, they will be nutella and marshmallow fluff sandwiches, and she will gloat at Garrus because there is no nearby source of dextro marshmallow fluff.

But to take gender theory hat off for a moment, they are awfully cute together, and that's likely more to the point :P

@Jamie - it was just about 30 minutes in photoshop - I'm not too good at it, lol.

@Everyone - thanks for answering the question I tossed out there! :> It's so cool hearing about other people's FemSheps!

@Sable
Hard to say. She is an interesting and a very sweet character in my opinion, but it's more of a combination of things why my femsheps tend to end up with Liara. One being the other LI characters besides Garrus aren't really as interesting for me. I do have one femshep Garrusmancing, but I see him more as a best friend type character than a lover for my sheps. I always thought Kaidan was a bit boring and I like Ashley a bit more, so sadly the Lieutenant gets vaporized usually. Then there's Jacob who has less personality than the average rock. I'm sorry, I don't mean to upset his fans or anything, but I think his character is just awful. Thane is a fascinating character, but I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that he is near death that keeps me away. Samara, sadly, isn't a fullblown LI, but I do have one shep that tried to hook up with her.

As I said, I like Liara as a character so it's not all "best of the worst" kind of thing and she's not exclusively the LI for my femsheps. It also makes me feel closer to her how strongly she's attached to Shepard from the get-go.

Also she's pretty. And blue!

Well when I first romanced Liara witha femshep it was because I didn't realize that Ashley couldn't be romanced by femshep and got ninjamance (wasn't complaining, though, I went along with it once it was initiated) and I thought it was cute because of the melding process since Liara can basically know Shepard as well as Shepard. Although now I've changed said romance Liara is still one of the best romances in the game and with the addition of LoTSB she's one of two Femshep LI's that asks Shepard how she really feels about the Mission in ME2 (the other being Jacob Taylor). Although I can't exactly answer why Liara is so popular before LoTSB, afterwards, she's the freaking Shadow Broker. Bioware did a good job of making her the most appealing since she has to be in the game no matter what and she expresses interest in Shepard even though it can take away form Other love interests.
