that's an interesting question, though: do you think your femshep(s) fit hale's voice? did you aim for that, stumble into that, or just go..nah, but whatever, i like the way she looks anyhow.

Hale's voice fit's Hrist and Lenneth, perfectly most of the time. I don't know if I just lucked out with their personalities, and the way the dialogue is delivered, but it just fits with how they are. In fact the only line I can think of off the top of head that doesn't suit them, (and this is definitely true for Hrist) is the Jacob conversation line, (you all know which one I mean) but let's not go there again, shall we? =]

Silmeria is a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. She's my full on Paragon Shepard, to the point where she's a bit to nice for her own good, so there are a few lines that don't fit her personality. The best example is the car chase in LotSB. Those lines between Shepard and Liara just don't fit her at all as she would never talk like that.

But I think two out of three Shepards fitting the voice work pretty much flawlessly is a decent ratio.

@Crash: Welcome to the promised land. I give you a week before you cave and buy the DLC*. Taking screenshots is too much fun. :D

*Of course you could try harassing EA customer support in to adding your 360 bought DLC to the PC version. You have nothing to lose after all.

EDIT: Fixed typos...

@Sage and Akari: Loved seeing the evolution / comparison shots. Made me wonder, of course, if Rhea had changed much. I know she's a newbie compared with most of the FemSheps here, and, let's be frank, she's fairly generic. But I went back and counted, and she's already been through 6 "versions" that I could identify (mostly from looking at date ranges in my screenshot libs). Turns out she looks pretty much the same, but there are noticeable variations:

 Posted Image

v1: The original ME1 Rhea
v2: The ME2 import with only minor tweaks
v3: Changes to the jawline; nose out; forehead in, brow down. Looks like I fiddled with the mouth position too.
v4: More jawline changes; cheeks in; thinner lips; smaller ears
v5: Reverted back to several original settings; eyes out; fatter lips; finally got the jawline like I wanted it
6: The current Rhea: changed and enlarged the eyes (still not sure about that change); slight repositioning and resizing of the mouth; nose in a bit more.

There are things I like about all of the versions and I'll probably be tweaking settings for years. But that''s part of what makes this enjoyable. There's a mental image I have of Rhea Shepard that I still haven't quite translated into the ME CC.

Thats the plan :D

I know it can be done and I always get what I want!!  Just look at what I did with Play.com with the DA2 SE ordeal ^_^

oh wait shouldnt really say that should I scratch that! :P   Its quite a good strategy by Bioware though giving the game out for free and getting the money purely off DLC sales.  I can see it being quite successfull.

What did I just say marketting has done something right?!  :o

Ahh well better include some pics.  I havent got past the opening scene yet. But its often overlooked because we do it so many times! Makes for some epic snaps!!

Thanks, centauri. Funny you should say that - v3 is the version that has had the most play time. Maybe I need to go back to her and stop tweaking; I may end up succumbing to the Michael Jackson syndrome if I keep going!

I went through two versions of Amelia.   First Version turned out better then I hoped. So V2 all I changed was cheek gaunt, cheek bones and eye depth to any major degree. I did a couple of tweaks elsewhere

I almost went back to do a V3 to alter cheek bones and chin width. But then thought she was pretty much perfect anyway and I probably wouldnt change anything for the better.  I was quite happy to get my femshep right after only two tweaks.

I should point out though I must have spent 6 hours creating Amelia in V1 at least.  I also played about 7 hours with her in a rush play to see her appearance in differing cutscenes.

With that in mind she should look good and I stand proud with her! :)

Ahaha, yep seems you've got a very nice Shepard there. It must be the experience that makes her look so good. ;)

@SkaldFish

I don't think Rhea looks that generic personally. I think the limitations of the CC and the lack of options makes it quite difficult to make a really unique character, and people tend to think their Shepard looks similar to others that have similar features.

I tend to do the same thing with Hrist, who I don't think is is a particularly stand out Shepard compared to a lot of the ones posted here. But I see her all the time so I'm used to how she looks and anything you see repeatedly tends to become routine and normal.

As for tweaking faces. Hrist got tweaked about five or six times over the course of four months, and quite a few playthroughs, before I was happy with how she looked. It's safe to say though that her face code is well and truely locked down and won't be changing again.

Femsheps of every multiverse all are similar and could actually just be sisters!  Similarities are striking!
Or its just those limited options Akari says.  :innocent:

The games crying out for a more in depth CC. We had the same style now since ME1.  That was in 2007 and ME3 will be 2011.

Agreed re: the limitations of the CC.  Of course I think it's also the problem with screencaps.  We don't notice the subtle differences unless we're actually playing with the character.  But when I see another femShep with Alice's haircut, I feel a little sad, thinking that they're 'copies' of each other, even though there might not be any OTHER similarities besides the hair.

@centauri: Well, thanks for saying that. To Cap'n Crash's point, I don't even want to think about how many hours I've fiddled with CC settings, tried them out in the game, then gone back and tweaked again. So if that's the experience you mean, yes, there's been plenty of it.

@Captain: Thanks for the kind words. I can't believe you got to the current Amelia in two versions; she is awesome! Like I said above, I know what you mean about the hours of fiddling with settings. I think I go too far, but I wanted her to look as realistic as possible.

Confession: I often printed out the face from the CC, then measured and marked the feature proportions to check for correct relationships. (eyes centered horizontally on a line equidistant between top of head and chin, inner corners of eyes aligned vertically w/ outer edges of nose, corners of mouth aligned vertically with each pupil, etc.).  Unfortunately this does contribute to a somewhat generic look because few real faces have those perfect proportions. It's often the outliers that give faces character and make them memorable.

But am I a nerd or what? Posted Image

Anyway, it amazes me the variety of FemSheps that have been created given the limited options we have been given. I love every single one of them and can't wait to see more.

I only have one femshep to add to the graveyard. I think she had either the default Jane Shep face or some preset similar to it. I don't really remember, since that playthrough got scrapped mainly because it was on hold for way too long.

For different versions of the same shep, I have restarted the game numerous times on some of them if I was not happy with the face. I think Meredith and now Adria are my only characters I was quite satisfied with right away. I have never used the same face for multiple playthroughs however (not counting NG+ of course). I can't put my finger on why, but I just can't do it.

And the obligatory Adria pic. There's something about this pose that just has me confused. I have no idea why.

To be honest video game technology hasn't really progressed much since 2007. Games that looked good then still look good now and Crysis for the PC has yet to be visually topped. Even by it's own sequel. The entire Mass Effect trilogy will be on the same engine and run on the same hardware.

Argh. Sorry I missed that. Some days I'm just too damned serious. Posted Image Scratch the above answer and substitute this one:

Yes - plus v3 works out for an hour three times a week, practices Yoga, and washes her face twice a day with Dove soap ("it's one quarter cleansing cream").

If Kaiden were around, of course, there'd be even more "play hours" and she'd be completely stunning. Posted Image

No worries, tone is so hard to interpret through text. ^_^

She's the epitome of healthy living, it seems! Aside from the whole death thing and the getting shot at a lot. >.> Her skin really shows the effects of the Dove! I'm wondering how their soap will change in the next century or so. :P

 Your Shepard will need to chastise Kaiden in ME3 for being detrimental to her physical appearance!

True, but there are a great many settings "underneath" what is exposed via the CC sliders, and exposing them doesn't require any advance in technology. For example, we could be allowed to select a preset nose, then be given a whole subset of options to further modify our selection. These are settings that already exist in the configuration; they only need to be bubbled up into the user interface. You can see them in the Gibbed Editor's MorphFeature node:

nose_nostrilsnarrow
nose_tipNarrow
nose_BridgeThin
nose_BridgeIn
nose_topOut

To do this, though, (if BioWare wants to stick with using alphanumeric codes to simplify loading a new face) the single "face code" would need to be extended to a top-level code plus an optional set of "feature codes" that further modify some top-level preset selections.

Admittedly, you could do some bizarre things with this level of control, but if this were enabled for each feature, or even just for eyes, nose, and mouth, with additional presets for complexion and skin tone, the only remaining significant limitation would be hair mesh options.

Unfortuantely, this is one of those enhancements that would usually fall to the bottom of any priority list, the argument being that only a relatively small percentage of users would even see the added functionality.

What's kind of funny is the thought didn't occur to Moira, either. That is, until they went through a lot together during the Collector mission. They grew a great deal closer. As per usual Moira attitude, she was like "Hey, I do what I want...and I want that turian." XD OK, that was bad, but you get the idea.

Suddenly I want to see a motivational for that XD
Or maybe a photo-series or comic or...oh sorry, there I go again.

A photo-series or comic of Moira trying to get into Garrus' pants?
Or leading up to that horrible joke?

:D:D

I like seeing the evolution of all your FemSheps!  Very interesting.  Unfortunately, I don't have any old screenies of Holly.

As for Hale's voice, I think it sounds great coming out of my canon FemShep.  It fits her perfectly.  I don't think I've ever felt the voice didn't fit any of my current Sheps.  If it didn't, I would probably delete them and start over.

actually, once i got over the import from ME1 to ME2 and the inherent changes, i found my shep looks pretty consistent. what actually was harder was getting armor that implied the same "feel" as my old adept threads from ME1.
