I use Paint.net

Its free and its works great. Even I managed to create some half decent looking things with it! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]

I'll second Paint.Net.  I'm no artist, so I wouldn't use 90% of Photoshop's full functionality, but Paint.Net does everything that I need it to do, and it's free, so yay!

Yep, I just arrived on minute man about  25 mins ago, took a couple of snaps along the way.   Each screenshot is 2.8mb though for some reason. Better change the filetype I think

I still cant get used to using a mouse and keyboard though. I miss my controller.

Anyway quick frame grab and a quick play around with layers of Paint.nets inhouse functions works great by themselves.  With all the plug-ins you can really get creative.

ELE, stop playing Frankenstein and posting the results. It's disturbing. What even possessed you to put manshep's face texture on a female Shepard?

Actually scratch that, I don't think I want to know the answer. :P

Speaking of which - one question for everyone: How would your femSheps react to hearing the various  newsbroadcasts about her, like how Mindoir has now decided to use her likeness on their colonial seal

Hrist doesn't really pay any attention to it. She has no interest in being famous. She joined the Alliance to help people, not make a name for herself.

@Sable: Nice find. I tried getting a shot from that scene once, but the characters were out of focus when I moved the flycam closer to them.

I imagine that Delia Shepard was just fine with it, as she largely ignores the news. In fact, she is content to ignore media at large, really, she's usually too busy with other things.

...Busy up until she saw the pilot episode for a show Cerberus was making in an effort to recoup some of the money spent on Project Lazarus.

She then had to clarify, much to the disappointment of many young boys and girls, that:
-Being a Spectre is not synonymous with being a magical girl
-There isn't actually a transformation sequence
-The Normandy does not contain any unicorns
-No, not any ponies either
-No, not even in the secret compartment
-Wait , what secret compartment?
-She is indeed friends with a quarian and turian, just not the Talee and Garris who are totally original characters which in no way reflect the real life situation wink wink nudge nudge
-Assignments are not handed to her Charlie's Angels style from the Illusive Man
-and when they are, they're usually to kill things, not to solve things through peace and understanding or defeat monsters through the power of friendship
-Every assignment does not end with a cheerful moral
-She has not moonlighted as a rock star. Yet. Not even once
-She is not best friends and Spectre buddies with Blasto (sadly)

However, much was forgiven - barely - when she discovered the prototype action figures relating to the series. She confiscated them all, of course. It's just a nice coincidence that said action figures are the perfect scale to battle her space hamster.

Similar to the retirement question, previous to all the events of the suicide mission and Arrival, Myddine was actually interested in post-military political power, or maybe a politically powerful military post (Joint Chiefs type of thing), so she would have been pleased to be famous. Coming into ME3 though it's been pushed far out of her mind. I guess I'll see in ME3 if she wants the fame again after the Reapers are defeated. I'm excited to find out.

Oh, and another rec for Paint.Net. Does everything you want unless you're really doing some heavy duty work.

Kyrie does not like PR of any kind. As for the rest, her reaction to the "Rumors of Shepard's Return broadcast" is to be really irritated and hurt (see section 3).

I firmly believe Cerberus is behind many of the press releases and "leaks" in ME2 in an effort to keep Shepard caught up in their organization.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It's one of those little things that's nice to reflect on. Though I think Sole Survivor Shep would listen to the broadcast about Akuze, remember she was working for Cerberus...and run her fist into the nearest wall...

Lia has a similar reaction. She doesn't really want to be anyone's poster girl, especially not Mindoir's as that's a reminder of a time where she was helpless to do anything.

Hmm, you make a convincing case about Cerberus manipulating the press. It seems like them, doesn't it?

PS Great chapter ^_^

The one about the Shepard scholarship for underpriveliged children on Earth really moved her.  I RP that as something that Liara set up after the events of Redemption, since it was something that the two of them had talked about (albeit briefly) during their 'post Citadel attack' vacation together, when they visited Earth.

Other than that, Alice doesn't particularly care for all of the press.  It presents such a glossy, trivialized view of the events that actually took place, and she doesn't like or appreciate the infamy that it's given her.  People think they know her when they all they've seen are a few snippets of pre-washed, sanitized, and glorified moments of her exploits cut for film.

Lili mainly ignored the news braocasts, but when Mindoir was brought up, she felt sorta honored. However, when she heard about Torfan and the people protesting, she sighed and just kept on walking.
She thinks most of them are a waste of time, unless it is something important, like Mindoir or Terra Nova, something like that, or about people she knows (like the one about the person who died on Virmire.)

UJ tries to ignore most of the press about her.  The one about Midoir was different.  She knew that it was mostly about attracting tourists and less about honoring her, still, her parents would have been proud.  Despite that she still wished they chose something else for their seal as she doesn't find herself particularly attractive.

The only news story that makes her fume is the very last one, after the Collectors are destroyed.
It's not an exact quote, but I think it's close.

Whatever former Commander Shepard has been up to it involves surrounding herself w/ criminals, killers, mercenaries and other dangerous elements. We at Galactic News hope that Commander Shepard would consent to an interview to explain where she’s been and what she's doing.

Although it is not unexpected, it is a pretty big slap in the face, condemning her before the facts are in evidence.

as state before Kallen has learned to mannipulate teh medi (got her degree in media relations before joining the Alliance) She actually responded to Galactic news a few times telling them that their reports were false or missing onformation and promised Emily Wong an exclusive interview so that people can stop making stuff up about her. She might even write an autobiography.Image IPB

I never understood the notion that Femshep's voice is that of a "butch lesbian". Her voice is exactly how I picture a trained battle hardened female military leader to be like.

I guess they expect her to sound like some uber girly valley girl or something.

I think some people just can't stand the notion of a female in charge and as a leader so they call her that to demean her.  I've always found her voice so sexy because I like a woman in charge.  Heh, both of my FemSheps are lezzies and I would actually consider Shai a butch but not the flannel wearing kind that is a part time lumberjack.  Heh, people and their stereotypes.

I'm a fan of the buzz cut. It gives the character a certain edge. It was Myddine's hair in ME1 and in my 1st playthrough of 2 last year. Then going through again this year I tried out the hair and it grew on me. (get it? grew on me? sorry).

I know we've all finished talking about Arrival, but I wanted to make something that showed Hrist's reaction to wiping an entire star system off the map along with 300,000 lives.

It's nothing overly fancy, but I think it does the job.

I love it!  It does the job perfect!    The setting is really powerfull being over the constantly changing environment of Hagalaz.  Adds a different context of the ever changing nature of the universe around us and if in the grand scheme of things it matters...  The answers to life...

And it just show again how terrible Arrival is at conveying any sort of emotio.....  Oh wait I said I would stop ranting about my opinion of arrival...  :P :innocent:

I wanted to add after my last post (but I had to go to work), that another reason I love playing FemShep is because she is very empowering. As a woman myself, it's always satisfying to be able to take on the role of a strong, independent and competent woman in charge. There are so many games out there with female characters that just leave me shaking my head at the screen.

I adore those moments in the game where it's acknowledged that FemShep is female, people try to demean her and she gets the opportunity to verbally own them.

"Call me 'Princess' again, and you'll be picking your teeth up off the floor."

"Show me yours tough guy, I bet mine's bigger."

EDIT:
Huh, my silly little sketch of Moira in my scrapbook on DA is getting faves.

Off to play with the bamboo tablet.. *poof*

Yeah, I don't mean to criticize Hale (whom I love as Shepard) but it did seem like a lot of her lines were delivered a little too dispassionately. Of course the writing is just as much at fault here, if not moreso. Still, Arrival gave us this stunning image:

How the heck does Harbinger project a hologram without any communications device?  All they need is a shuttle landing pad now?  Not even Sovereign could pull that trick off...

Do not question the wisdom of things that are done simply because they look cool. :P

They don't make sense. Just go with it, or you will drive yourself crazy. ;)

[edit]
If you must try to justify it, you may consider doing what I do: pretend it never happened, and it is just artistic license being taken with a visual representation of how it felt to Shepard to have Harbinger take over all of the comm channels to talk to her. Or something like that.
