Do not question the wisdom of things that are done simply because they look cool. :P

They don't make sense. Just go with it, or you will drive yourself crazy. ;)

[edit]
If you must try to justify it, you may consider doing what I do: pretend it never happened, and it is just artistic license being taken with a visual representation of how it felt to Shepard to have Harbinger take over all of the comm channels to talk to her. Or something like that.
:wizard:

Bah.  The Rule of Cool is NOT cool.

This a large part of why Dragon Age 2 sucks.

Isn't Object Rho a communications device, at least in part?

ME2 seemed to be a lot more "Rule of Cool" than ME1 did.

Another question: What would your FemShep take her LI out for dinner and get?

yeah, with all those "cool" outfits and little clear masks in space >_>

anyways - dinner, hmm

Leah - pizza, preferably in a place that also has good Gelatto
Simone - whatever serves both levo and dextro food, good wine is a bonus.
Jade - sushi, or dim sum
Jewel - doesn't have time for an LI, but she might go out for a beer when no one is looking
Johari  - would rather stay in and cook
Jill would ask Thane for his favorite restaurant instead

food. just - whatever. but massive amounts of food. two biotics eat a LOT.

coffee afterward. kyrie drinks the stuff black at any time of the day or night.

i agree. i made the mistake of trying to play starcraft right after beating ME2 on hardcore. i got to the introduction of the medic unit: "You Rang???!?" "Ooooh! Looks like someone needs triage???!???" "The doctor is IN!!?!??!" and did a major facepalm. i was playing with my hubby and a buddy and they were both like, "oh, i didn't even notice" i was like - "ugh..." after months of nothing but jennifer hale, you notice, you really do.

Lili would most likely cook something, because that way she can make whatever, plus she can cook both dextro and levo based food.

Kallen would take:
Miranda: out to a fancy restaraunt in the presidium, where they both would have to wear a fancy dress and order something expensive.
Jacob:She'd take Jacob out for maybe a burger and fries, nothing to special so they could people watch on the citadel wards.
Ash: something in between Miranda and Jacob, nothing too fancy or too casual just right.
Kaidan: She'd let him choose the place and wear something nice to impress the LT.
Garrus: she'd try her best to find a place that serves Dextro and human food so they could both enjoy a meal together.
Tali: same.
Jack: they'd most likely do the same as Jacob because she'd have to beat up Jack to get her in the fancy dress.
Thane: probably get take out and eat in the Captains Cabin.
Liara: make her Agents go get something for the teo of them and eat at the base on Hagalaz..

:( this is one of the things that makes femshep/garrus and maleshep/tali kind of bittersweet to me. i mean, they're with the person they love so it doesn't really matter, but it's still a little "Awww..." to me that they can't share a dessert.

or maybe that's because kyrie is an unrepentant foodie and coffee junkie that it would matter to her. (and ah, yeah, that's something i based on me :P)

Lili would gladly deal with an alergic reaction if she had to, of course she'd get scolded by Chakwas and Mordin, but she thinks it'd be worth it if she could share something with him. She's a romantic like that.
But, she'd get a little irritated when Garrus told her not to, though, even when she assured him she was/would be fine...still, she's oh so good at negotiating, sweet talking and just about eveything else, so she could get it to work out.
However, it 'tis one of those things she misses about Devu.

but... you could just have 2 plates of desert and you could feed dextro desert to garrus, while he feeds levo desert to Shepard. I think exposure would be so minor that it would barely matter. heck its going to be less of an exposure then during actual sex. but you can still have fun with it.

its what Simone would do anyways, though she'd probably turn it into a food fight >_>

"Ready for your... sponge bath?"

Still, they do have a couple really good homages for the Medic.  "Please state the nature of your medical emergency!" and, if you click on her repeatedly... "He's dead, Jim."

I...I never thought of that. Well, it's a good idea.
She might do that, maybe, only if Chakwas and Mordin made her. Them both being doctors, they'd watch out for her. And, she's already blown off some things Mordin told her.
Lili is just very...stubborn. If told not to do something, alot of the time, she'll argue with said person. That's why she got in trouble both on Mindoir and in the Millitary.

Too late!!!
Then again - it's no worse than Fnar, is it? At least this way we get to stick it to BioWare's marketing department and their "icon"

Speaking of which - one question for everyone: How would your femSheps react to hearing the various newsbroadcasts about her, like how Mindoir has now decided to use her likeness on their colonial seal?

Kylie: Whaaaaaa-?!
Riza: Uh... can I tell them no?

(why are these questions so incredibly fun to answer?!)

Delia would hunt around to find a place able to do dextro ice cream cake for Garrus, and then she would be sure to carefully inscribe with icing, "Sorry About Half Your Face, But Hey You're Getting Laid!"

When questioned about dinner plans, she would reply that in sufficient quantity, ice cream cake is dinner.

Colly would take Liara to the market to buy ingredients, then head back to SB base to cook a decent Asian food for her, foods she would cook:

Sesame chicken nuggets as appretizer,
Green papaya salad,
Steamed fresh fish (not from the presidium!),
Spicy honey garlic spare ribs.....

and

A lemon ginger favor home made ice cream!!

Yes, Colly is a good at cooking besides killing geths. :P

Velina is 'in process', she may probably end up with Kadian tho.......

Believe me, I do not disagree at all. I hate the "rule of cool". I wish every one who succumbed to it's siren song and follwed the temptation to put it into any kind of story were subjected to a few hours in a Cerberus test facility. As the test subjects.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. A lot of my early annoyances at ME2 and its differences from ME1 can be chalked up to this. [insert rant about squadmates and armor here]
;)

Another question: What would your FemShep take her LI out for dinner and get?

Hmmm... tough call.

Both of my femSheps at this time are romancing Liara. Assuming Liara is cool with "normal" food, and given the ideal choice, Artemis would cook. Not only would she cook, but it would be meat and it would be fresh. It would be fresh because she would have hunted it herself. If we are talking "taking out for dinner" then it would be an outdoors dinner, maybe at the camp of a Prothean dig site where Liara was poking around.

Artemis was not named because she was expected to grow up to be a hunter; but when she discovered the origin of her name, she chose to live up to it. (I don't have a full back-story developed for her yet, but you'd better believe it involves scout/sniper specialty during Alliance boot and/or N7).

Athene is a bit more refined. Not sure what or where the food would be, but it would somehow be classy. Even if it is in the dirtiest hole-in-the-wall dive of Omega, Athene will find a way to class it up a bit. And you'd better believe there will be wine involved.

Going out to eat:

That's an interesting question. I see Holly leaving it up to Thane, but I picture them going somewhere nice. Perhaps a quiet little place few people know about.

Moira isn't big on pretentious. For some reason I picture her and Garrus going to a lively bar. They can get drinks, decent food and have a good time.

I'd have to contemplate the others. :P

I adore those moments in the game where it's acknowledged that FemShep is female, people try to demean her and she gets the opportunity to verbally own them.

"Call me 'Princess' again, and you'll be picking your teeth up off the floor."

"Show me yours tough guy, I bet mine's bigger."

EDIT:
Huh, my silly little sketch of Moira in my scrapbook on DA is getting faves.

Off to play with the bamboo tablet.. *poof*

Conrad Verner says something to the effect that he's surprised she's giving him any attention cause a lot guys are after her hot self in ME1.

Femshep needs more moments like that. :P

Hmm, nifty question, never actually thought about that before.  I can't really speak for one of my femsheps (I still haven't finished her ME2 playthrough yet.)

But for my other one, Tessa...she'd probably try to cook something for Garrus.  Partly to prove that she can prepare more than just field rations, and partly because she'd think it was romantic.  Of course...she's not a very good cook, so it would probably end with Garrus having to save her by taking her to some place on the Citadel for actual food rather than something half-burnt and smoking.

I imagine it would be tough to cook for Garrus, since, you know, you wouldn't be able to taste the food and see if it would taste right for a Turian. Even if the reverse chirality of the molecules didn't make you sick and you only tasted it without ingesting, it's highly unlikely that what you would taste would be anything like what Garrus would taste, because your receptors aren't set up for the same kinds of molecules.
;)

(btw, someone refresh my memory: is the only difference the chirality of amino acids, or do they also have opposite chirality for sugars, thus affecting...well, pretty much everything else about their biology?)

Yes, I'm a biology nerd.

And I can be pedantic.

So, now I'll distract you all with a picture of Artemis and Liara gettin' down at Flux. B)

Pssh...so the question is...would her bad cooking have any effect at all on the quality of the food?  She'd have to find a taste tester.  As I recall, can't Quarians eat Turian food?  If that were the case...Tessa would constantly bug Tali to try different dishes.  Maybe have Mordin check the food first to make sure it's actually safe to eat, then have Tali taste it to see if it tastes good.

You mean, it hasn't already?

The novel Death Star by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry also had a bit of Lethal Chef in it (although it wasn't quite so deadly).
